I want to click on button that has the following html:
Bid
The problem is that the only attribute I can use is onclick, because there are more buttons on the site that use the same name as href, title and class, if I use any of these the click will be on more than one button, and I just want to click on this specific button.
if this button had an id, the code would be:
HtmlElementCollection elementButton = webBrowser1.Document.GetElementsById("Id");
elementButton.InvokeMember("click");
However, this button has no id. How to click on this button using the onclick parameter?

I am testing a website using Watin in the page there is dropdown menu button like if I find that button and click it clicks the entire button and selects the first Option in the menu but I want to click the V of the button to show the dropdown menu(div) and select the option from it the code I had tried to click the button
ff.Button(Find.By("aria-describedby", "x-auto-456")).FireEvent("onmouseover");
ff.Button(Find.By("aria-describedby", "x-auto-456")).FireEvent(" Onmousedown");
ff.Button(Find.By("aria-describedby", "x-auto-456")).Click();
the Button HTML
<button class="x-btn-text" style="position: relative; width: 16px;" type="button" tabindex="0" aria-describedby="x-auto-456">
Edit:
I had tried to find the co-ordinates of the Image in the button and then click it with the below code but its slightly not working kindly any one point me how to click the button and show the div Instead of selecting a option automatically,
NameValueCollection eventProps = new NameValueCollection();
eventProps.Add("clientY", "240");
eventProps.Add("clientX", "240");
ff.Button(Find.By("aria-describedby", "x-auto-456")).FireEvent("onClick",eventProps);
You are not finding the button correctly:
Button button = ff.Button(Find.ByClass("x-auto-457"));
You need to find the button by its class name. Be aware that will find the first <button> or <input type="button|submit|reset"> element with that class name. If you still aren't getting the correct button, check to see how many buttons on the page have x-auto-457 for a class attribute value.
I have a lot of buttons in my web page and that too are javascript buttons. All those buttons have same TagName, but different id. But I cant use ID since I cant predict which button has to be clicked.
Selenium will search for a content (Question here) and if could find the content, then it must click on the respective button. How can it be achieved?
Any comments would be really helpful and appreciated..
This will find a button based on the displayed text on the button and click it.
var loggout = driver.FindElement(By.LinkText("Logg ut"));
loggout.Click();
Or you can change it to;
By.Id()
By.CssSelector()
By.Name()
...
I am trying to right click on a LinkButton and open it in a new tab or seperate window page displays nothing. I found some solution for the use of Hyperlink button as it has property to set target to "_blank" but LinkButton has not any target attribue.
I want to use LinkButton instead of hyperlink button, its just because i can't set command arguement or command name on hyperlink button and can't fire an event on it.
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkHeadingHindi" Text='<%#Patrika.Common.ConvertNews(Eval("strMainHeadingHin").ToString())%>' CommandArgument='<%#Eval("intNewsId") %>' runat="server"></asp:LinkButton>
It would be great if anybody has a solution and let me know in case of any concern.
Thanks !!
Based on the accepted answer to this question, if you want to perform a POST (such as a LinkButton does) but have the result open in a new window, you need to add target="_blank" to the form on the page, not the link itself.
Obviously you don't want to do this when you initially render the page, as everything that caused a postback would open in a new window.
Instead, try adding the following attribute to your LinkButton:
OnClientClick="$('form').attr('target', 'blank')"
This will dynamically set the form attribute just before the form is posted back by a click to the link.
Note that this doesn't give the right-click functionality you want, but it does work to open in a new window on a left-click.
If you don't have access to JQuery, you'll need to do something like
protected void Page_PreRender(object se, EventArgs e)
{
this.Page.Form.ID = "someUniqueID"; // unless your form already has an ID
yourLinkButton.OnClientClick =
"document.getElementById('" +
this.Page.Form.ClientID +
"').setAttribute('target', '_blank')";
}
From the docs
Use the LinkButton control to create a hyperlink-style button on the Web page. The LinkButton control has the same appearance as a HyperLink control, but has the same functionality as a Button control. If you want to link to another Web page when the control is clicked, consider using the HyperLink control.
As this isn't actually performing a link in the standard sense, there's no Target property on the control (the HyperLink control does have a Target) - it's attempting to perform a PostBack to the server from a text link.
Depending on what you are trying to do you could either:
1) Use a HyperLink control, and set the Target property
2) Provide a method to the OnClientClick property
that opens a new window to the correct place.
3) In your code that handles the PostBack add some JavaScript to fire on PageLoad that will open a new window correct place.
If you like when click the link button,then open new window,
please see this
insert base tag like this
<head>
<base target="_blank" />
</head>
If you want to pass some information to the page using hyperlink, pass it in the url using QueryString.
<asp:HyperLink id="hyperlink1"
NavigateUrl="~/MyPage.aspx?intNewsId=10"
Text="ClickMe"
Target="_blank"
runat="server"/>
You can't have it both ways, you'll have to choose between:
1) the linkbutton executing some code in the current page
2) a hyperlink opening another page in a new window
I guess you want to have the linkbutton executing some code in the new page, but that's impossible.
or if u like use . anger tag
Just render an anchor with href set to appropriate url and set the target attribute to _blank it will open the url into new window
<a href="urlOfThePage" target="_blank" >Click me</a>
I am using masterpage in my solution. In that masterpage there is a imagebutton named "Save" using as the saving option for all my pages, which is set as Defaultbutton in masterpage. The problem is that, in one of my page i have a textchanged event which i want to work when pressing "Enter" key. But when i press "Enter" key "Save" function works after the textchanged event. I dont want to happen "Save" function on "Enter" key press. I don't want there to be any default button on my page
You can set the button's UseSubmitBehavior = "false"
similar question is here Canceling the default submit button in ASP.NET
I think you have to prevent enter key while you are work in text-box
just put this function in ur page.
just add onkeydown event to ur text-box
<input type='text' onkeydown="return (event.keyCode!=13);" />
another one
this function need jquery
$('input').keypress(function(event) {
if (event.keyCode == 13) {
event.preventDefault();
}
});
I have a ModalPopupExtender inside an UpdatePanel which opens an input form. The problem is when I click the "Edit" button (which is also inside the UpdatePanel) I want to fill the form with existing values using server side code. But it OnClick method of the button doesn't seem to work.
My question is: How can I make the serverside code run first, than show the edit form?
You need to show the ModalPopupExtender from server side.
First, link the ModalPopupExtender's TargetControlID to a dummy hiddenfield or a button with style="display:none" instead of the "Edit" button. I know it's sound stupid, but it's a know workaround.
Then make sure the asp.net the "Edit" button is set as a asyncpostbacktrigger if children as trigger is set to false.
Also set CausesValidation="false" to avoid the postback to be blocked by unrelated validators on the page.
Finally, At the end of "Edit" button's click event, call ModalPopupExtender.Show() to display the pop up.
