Access Path Denied when iterating through C: drive

The problem is that when I'm inside folder for example in my desktop or it could be any other folder, my program is working smoothly, but once I try to iterate every file in every directory and subdirectories with "C:" drive as a path it throws me an error "Access path denied".
If i use a try/catch before iterating through folder it only shows me like 7 files and stop.
My code looks like that :

Normal applications can't access every folder in a machine. When they do, they get an Access Denied exception. You can avoid this by using the EnumerateFiles overload that accepts an EnumerationOptions parameter with IgnoreInaccessible set to true :

Ignore folder C# (System.UnauthorizedAccessException)

A quick question. I'm executing this code:
listBox1.Items.AddRange( Directory.GetDirectories("C:\\Users\\", "*" ,SearchOption.AllDirectories));
It list all directories and subdirectories in C:\Users\ (yes I know, it maybe blow up my pc)
Anyways, I am getting this error (System.UnauthorizedAccessException)
This error comes from the special folders "C:\Users\All Users\" and "C:\Users\USER\AppData\"
How can I ignore this folders to program keeping listing all dir and subd without Exceptions?

Unfortunately it's not possible to filter out all directories without the required permissions. You need to implement your own recursive function to deal with the problem by catching the UnauthorizedAccessException. Since there could be many exceptions the way is not very fast but reliable like explained in this question:
[...] permissions (even file existence) are volatile — they can change at any time [...]
Here is my possible solution:

Simply call the function like
List<string> allDirectories = new List<string>();

I'm trying to read a text file with File.ReadAllText and FileStream, but for some reason I get the System.UnauthorizedAccessException every time.

Why? I have permissions in that folder, so why do I get this exception?

Based on your code, you are either trying to read a Folder since you didn't specify a extension on your File Path here:
private string Inativos = #"C:\Users\Mathias Cruz\Desktop\helloWorld\helloWorld\Consultas";
It will definitely throw a UnauthorizedAccessException error. So make sure you have the exact file path together with its extension.

Because the path is a directory.
Please check your file address.
This method needs a file address.
Here is a sample code:
File.ReadAllText("C:\\yourfile.txt");

As detailed in this question, you need to change the value of the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\xmlfile\shell\open\command on the user's machine.
This could be achieved programatically by code such as (untested):

I think he is wanting a way to search the hard drive for all xml files, so that he can then manage them in some sort of tree for easy opening and closing.
You could do something similar to this...

I will get

You can use the Directory.GetFiles method to list all files in a folder:

Note that the SearchOption parameter can be used to control whether the search is recursive (SearchOption.AllDirectories) or not (SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly).
