Postgresql Npgsql.PostgresException in c# - c#

I have a problem with cmd.ExecuteReader() i get a Npgsql.PostgresException
public void connectDB()
{
try
{
server = "localhost";
database = "DoveVer3";
uid = "admin";
password = "admin";
string connectionString;
connectionString = "Host=" + server + ";Username =" + uid + ";" + "PASSWORD=" + password + ";DATABASE=" + database;
connection.ConnectionString = connectionString;
connection.Open();
}
catch (Exception e)
{
MessageBox.Show(e.Message);
}
}
I get the Exeption in the code below:
public void AddDoveToDB(Dove dove)
{
//add new dove record to tableDB
connectDB();
cmd = new NpgsqlCommand();
cmd.Connection = connection;
cmd.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM " + DoveTableDB + " WHERE `" + DoveIdColumnDoveTable + "` = '" + dove.GetDoveId() + "'";
NpgsqlDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); //// <<<<< HERE
if (rdr.Read() != true)
{
rdr.Close();
cmd.Parameters.Clear();
cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO " + DoveTableDB + "(" + DoveIdColumnDoveTable + "," + DoveIdFatherColumnDoveTable + "," + DoveIdMotherColumnDoveTable + "," + DoveEyesColorColumnDoveTable + "," + DoveFeatherColorDoveTable + "," + DoveImageNameColumnDoveTable + "," + DoveSexColumnDoveTable +") VALUES ('" + dove.GetDoveId() + "','" + dove.GetDoveFatherId() + "','" + dove.GetDoveMotherId() + "','" + dove.GetEyesColor() + "','" + dove.GetFeathersColor()+ "','" + dove.GetImageName() + "','" + dove.GetSex()+ "')";
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
connection.Close();
}
My database is called DoveVer3 and my schema DoveSchema here is my table code:
Name: DoveTable; Type: TABLE; Schema: DoveSchema; Owner: admin
--
CREATE TABLE "DoveTable" (
"doveId" character varying(20)[] NOT NULL,
"doveFather" character varying(20)[],
"doveMother" character varying,
"doveEyesColor" character varying(20)[],
"doveFeathersColor" character varying(20)[],
"doveSex" smallint DEFAULT 3 NOT NULL,
"imageName" character varying(30)
);
ALTER TABLE "DoveTable" OWNER TO admin;
The Exceptions Base messege:
relation "dovetable" don't exist; Statemants: {SELECT * FROM DoveTable
WHERE doveId = 'Test'}

By default all identifiers passed to PostgreSQL will be considered lower-case. Based on your creation script you used a quoted-identifer when defining your table so the following is required when using the name of your table.
SELECT * FROM "DoveTable"
Notice that it is wrapped in double quotes and the 'D' and 'T' are both capitalized. When using quoted-identifiers you must always write them out exactly the way you defined them.

Incorrect Syntax error when inserting values into SQL database from Windows form

I want to connect a Windows Form app with SQL Server and insert values from the app textboxes to a database. When the button is clicked, I receive an error:
Incorrect syntax near the keyword "Group".
What is the problem? How can I insert this data?
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
try
{
string myconnection = #"Data Source=(localdb)\MSSQLLocalDB;Initial Catalog=StudBase;Integrated Security=True";
string Query = "Insert Into StudentInfo (StudentID, Name,Surname,Group,Course,City,Sector,Average rating) values('" +this.textBox1.Text+"','" + this.textBox2.Text + "','" + this.textBox4.Text + "','" + this.textBox6.Text + "','" + this.textBox8.Text + "','" + this.textBox3.Text + "','" + this.textBox5.Text + "','" + this.textBox3.Text + "');";
SqlConnection Myconn = new SqlConnection(myconnection);
SqlCommand Mycom = new SqlCommand(Query, Myconn);
SqlDataReader Reader1;
Myconn.Open();
Reader1 = Mycom.ExecuteReader();
MessageBox.Show("Save data");
while (Reader1.Read())
{
}
Myconn.Close();
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
}
}
Use this for your query statement -
string Query = "Insert Into StudentInfo (StudentID,[Name],Surname,[Group],Course,City,Sector,[Average rating]) values('" +this.textBox1.Text+"','" + this.textBox2.Text + "','" + this.textBox4.Text + "','" + this.textBox6.Text + "','" + this.textBox8.Text + "','" + this.textBox3.Text + "','" + this.textBox5.Text + "','" + this.textBox3.Text + "');";
Use [] for reserved keywords in SQL. Also the last column Average rating was not covered with [], as this column name has space then it should be quoted in [].

how to save imported excel in datagridview to database C#

how to save imported data from excel in datagridview to database in C#
I have saved records and exported to excel sheet, it exported along with data ID, now I have re-imported back to datagridview from excel. now I want to save data to database.
Important to know:
Database name "Records.sdf" using SQL Compact 3.5
DataGridViewName is RecordsDataGridView.
I'm using following code but it's not working.
public void SaveData()
{
// Save the data.
SqlCeConnection conn =
new SqlCeConnection(
#"Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Records.sdf;Persist Security Info=False");
SqlCeCommand com;
string str;
conn.Open();
for (int index = 0; index < RecordsDataGridView.Rows.Count - 1; index++)
{
str = #"Insert Into OutgoingChequeRecords(ID,BankName,Date,AccountNo, Chequebook, ChequeNo, Payee, Amount, Remarks) Values(" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[0].Value.ToString() + ", '" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[1].Value.ToString() + "'," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[2].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[3].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[4].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[5].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[6].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[7].Value.ToString() + "," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[8].Value.ToString() + ")";
com = new SqlCeCommand(str, conn);
com.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
conn.Close();
}
ERROR RECEIVING
Column Name not Valid, column name = Cash
Try this query string
str = #"Insert Into OutgoingChequeRecords(ID,BankName,Date,AccountNo, Chequebook, ChequeNo, Payee, Amount, Remarks) Values(" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[0].Value.ToString() + ",'"+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[1].Value.ToString() + "'," + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[2].Value.ToString() + ",'" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[3].Value.ToString() + "','" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[4].Value.ToString() + "','" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[5].Value.ToString() + "','" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[6].Value.ToString() + "','" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[7].Value.ToString() + "','" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[8].Value.ToString() + "')";
You should pass varchar field enclosed with single quote.
var str = #"Insert Into OutgoingChequeRecords(ID,BankName,Date,AccountNo, Chequebook, ChequeNo, Payee, Amount, Remarks) Values("
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[0].Value.ToString() + ", '"
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[1].Value.ToString() + "',"
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[2].Value.ToString() + ","
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[3].Value.ToString() + ","
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[4].Value.ToString() + ","
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[5].Value.ToString() + ","
+ "'" + RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[6].Value.ToString() + "'" + ","
+ RecordsDataGridView.Rows[index].Cells[7].Value.ToString() + ","
+ "'" + dataGridView1.Rows[index].Cells[8].Value.ToString() + "'" + ")";
There are a few ways to do this.
Here is one method.
private void save_btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
sAdapter.Update(sTable);
dataGridView1.ReadOnly = true;
save_btn.Enabled = false;
new_btn.Enabled = true;
delete_btn.Enabled = true;
}
http://csharp.net-informations.com/datagridview/csharp-datagridview-database-operations.htm
You can do this as well.
string StrQuery;
try
{
using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(ConnString))
{
using (SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand())
{
comm.Connection = conn;
conn.Open();
for(int i=0; i< dataGridView1.Rows.Count;i++)
{
StrQuery= #"INSERT INTO tableName VALUES ("
+ dataGridView1.Rows[i].Cells["ColumnName"].Text+", "
+ dataGridView1.Rows[i].Cells["ColumnName"].Text+");";
comm.CommandText = StrQuery;
comm.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
}
}
}
Something like this will work too.
private void buttonSave_Click_1(object sender, EventArgs e) // save to invoice
{
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(MyConnectionString);
string SqlCmdText = "INSERT INTO invoice (p_code, p_name, p_category, p_price) " +
VALUES (#code, #name, #category, #price)";
SqlCommand sc = new SqlCommand(SqlCmdText, con);
con.Open();
foreach (DataRow row in MyTable.Rows)
{
sc.Parameters.Clear();
sc.Parameters.AddWithValue("#code", row["p_code"]);
sc.Parameters.AddWithValue("#name", row["p_name"]);
sc.Parameters.AddWithValue("#category", row["p_category"]);
sc.Parameters.AddWithValue("#price", row["p_price"]);
sc.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
con.Close();
}

Insert nullable int in c# using mysql

I have a table in mysql for users. Sometime user has a boss and sometime it don't.
So boss data type in nullable int(it is a foreign key, that's why nullable INT).
I was using following code and it was causing problem when boss value is null, producing following error "Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'boss_id' at row 1"
string query = " INSERT INTO " + databasename + ".system_user (" +
"`boss_id`, " +
"`name`, " +
"`user_name`, " +
"`password_2`, " +
"`designation`," +
"`digital_signature`," +
"`functional_role`," +
"`group_2`) " +
"VALUES ('" +
systemuser.Boss + "', '" +
systemuser.Name + "','" +
systemuser.UserName + "', '" +
systemuser.Password + "', '" +
systemuser.Designation + "', '" +
systemuser.DigitalSignature + "', '" +
systemuser.FunctionalRole + "', '" +
systemuser.Group + "');";
MySqlConnection conDataBase = new MySqlConnection(myconnection);
MySqlCommand cmdDataBase = new MySqlCommand(query, conDataBase);
MySqlDataReader myreader;
try
{
conDataBase.Open();
myreader = cmdDataBase.ExecuteReader();
conDataBase.Close();
return true;
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
conDataBase.Close();
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
return false;
}
So, i changed the code for string query as follow:
string query = "";
if(systemuser.Boss!=null)
{
query = " INSERT INTO " + databasename + ".system_user (" +
"`boss_id`, " +
"`name`, " +
"`user_name`, " +
"`password_2`, " +
"`designation`," +
"`digital_signature`," +
"`functional_role`," +
"`group_2`) " +
"VALUES ('" +
systemuser.Boss + "', '" +
systemuser.Name + "','" +
systemuser.UserName + "', '" +
systemuser.Password + "', '" +
systemuser.Designation + "', '" +
systemuser.DigitalSignature + "', '" +
systemuser.FunctionalRole + "', '" +
systemuser.Group + "');";
}
else
{
query = " INSERT INTO " + databasename + ".system_user (" +
"`name`, " +
"`user_name`, " +
"`password_2`, " +
"`designation`," +
"`digital_signature`," +
"`functional_role`," +
"`group_2`) " +
"VALUES ('" +
systemuser.Name + "','" +
systemuser.UserName + "', '" +
systemuser.Password + "', '" +
systemuser.Designation + "', '" +
systemuser.DigitalSignature + "', '" +
systemuser.FunctionalRole + "', '" +
systemuser.Group + "');";
}
It worked because, Mysql by default put null at the skipped values.
Now according to my scenario, I have to update boss_id from int to null and sometime from null to int. But my query always skip if value is null. Can you please help me in changing the insert statement in such a way that it would insert null value in boos(if its null) and don't just skip it.
Firstly, you should use parameters, it gives you a clean code and avoid injection.
You can use parameters like this:
string query = string.Format("INSERT INTO {0}.system_user (`boss_id`, `name`, `user_name`, `password_2`, `designation`, `digital_signature`, `functional_role`, `group_2`)" +
"VALUES (#boss_id, #name, #user_name, #password_2, #designation, #digital_signature, #functional_role, #group_2)", databasename);
MySqlConnection conDataBase = new MySqlConnection(myconnection);
MySqlCommand cmdDataBase = new MySqlCommand(query, conDataBase);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#boss_id", systemuser.Boss ?? (object)DBNull.Value);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#name", systemuser.Name);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#user_name", systemuser.UserName);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#password_2", systemuser.Password);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#designation", systemuser.Designation);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#digital_signature", systemuser.DigitalSignature);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#functional_role", systemuser.FunctionalRole);
cmdDataBase.Parameters.AddWithValue("#group_2", systemuser.Group);
Note "#boss_id", systemuser.Boss ?? (object)DBNull.Value, this is because you can not use null directly in the parameters.
UPDATE:
If you want to update or delete you can use parameters too:
You can write your queries like this:
string query = string.Format("UPDATE {0}.system_user SET `name` = #name WHERE `boss_id` = #boss_id", databasename);
or
string query = string.Format("DELETE FROM {0}.system_user WHERE `boss_id` = #boss_id", databasename);
For datetime columns you can see this question. It has very good answers.
You are encapsulating the value of Systemuser.Boss in single quotes, doesn't this indicate that you are trying to insert a string into an integer column?
string query = #"INSERT INTO {0}.system_user (
`boss_id`,
`name`,
`user_name`,
`password_2`,
`designation`,
`digital_signature`,
`functional_role`,
`group_2`)
VALUES
{1},
'{2}',
'{3}',
'{4}',
'{5}',
'{6}',
'{7}',
'{8}')
";
string formattedQuery = string.Format(query,
databasename, // {0}
Systemuser.Boss, // {1}
Systemuser.Name, // {2}
etc, etc);
EDIT: missed a part where you said 'when it was null'... you need to use:
(Systemuser.Boss ?? "NULL")

Insert record(s) DB from Form

I have an Access DB connected to my form with that code ( C# ) :
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection conn = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection();
conn.ConnectionString = #"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data source= Z:\Tempesta\Area Progetto\Area_Progetto_20_02_2014\Area_Progetto_DATA_MAGAZINE\Data_Magazine\Data_Magazine\DB\DataMG.mdb";
try
{
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand cmd = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand();
cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.Text;
cmd.CommandText = "INSERT into Prodotti ([Codice],[Descrizione],[Marchio],[Deposito],[Note],[NumeroProdotti],[PrzListinoBase_Aq],[PrzListinoBase_Ve],[Categoria],[Posizione],[Disponibilita],[QtaVenduta],[QtaAcquistata]) VALUES ('" + this.Codice.Text + "','" + this.Descr.Text + "','" + this.Marchio.Text + "','" + this.Deposito.Text + "'," + this.Note.Text + "," + this.NumProd.Text + "," + this.PrzListAcq.Text + "," + this.PrzListVen.Text + ",'" + this.Categ.Text + "','" + this.Posiz.Text + "'," + this.Disp.Text + "," + this.QtaVen.Text + "," + this.QtaAcq.Text + ")";
cmd.Connection = conn;
conn.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close();
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString());
// MessageBox.Show("Connessione Fallita!");
conn.Close();
}
finally
{
conn.Close();
}
The error I get when i click the buttton is this one :
Any ideas?
You are missing single quotations in Insert Statement where you are assigning values to columns. Your code is vulnerable so should avoid this here is a useful link.
Are Parameters really enough to prevent Sql injections?
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection conn = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection();
conn.ConnectionString = #"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data source= Z:\Tempesta\Area Progetto\Area_Progetto_20_02_2014\Area_Progetto_DATA_MAGAZINE\Data_Magazine\Data_Magazine\DB \DataMG.mdb";
try
{
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand cmd = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand();
cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.Text;
cmd.CommandText = "INSERT into Prodotti (Codice,Descrizione,Marchio,Deposito,Note,NumeroProdotti,PrzListinoBase_Aq,PrzListinoBase_Ve,Categoria,Posizione,Disponibilita,QtaVenduta,QtaAcquistata) VALUES('" + this.Codice.Text + "','" + this.Descr.Text + "','" + this.Marchio.Text + "','" + this.Deposito.Text + "','" + this.Note.Text + "','" + this.NumProd.Text + "','" + this.PrzListAcq.Text + "','" + this.PrzListVen.Text + "','" + this.Categ.Text + "','" + this.Posiz.Text + "','" + this.Disp.Text + "','" + this.QtaVen.Text + "','" + this.QtaAcq.Text + "')";
conn.Open();
cmd.Connection = conn;
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close();
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString());
// MessageBox.Show("Connessione Fallita!");
conn.Close();
}
finally
{
conn.Close();
}
I don't know italian (is that even the language? :) ) but from the look of it it could very well be a culture settings problem. If, for example, one of your fields is numeric then the database might expect a different decimal separator than the one in use in your UI.
Also your actual design seems very vulnerable to SQL Injection Attacks.
For these reasons, my suggestion is that you use the command's Parameters collection to set your values rather than trying to pass in a concatenated string.
I don't read the language you are posting the error from, however, it looks like a syntax error somewhere in your SqlCommand.
First thing I would suggest is wrapping your connection and command in using blocks to make sure they get disposed of correctly.
Then ALWAYS user parametarized SQL Commands to avoid SQL Injection:
using (var conn = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(#"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data source= Z:\Tempesta\Area Progetto\Area_Progetto_20_02_2014\Area_Progetto_DATA_MAGAZINE\Data_Magazine\Data_Magazine\DB\DataMG.mdb"))
using (var cmd = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand())
{
cmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO TableName (column1, column2, column3) VALUES (#Value1, #Value2, #Value3)";
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Value1", this.TextBox1.Text);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Value2", this.TextBox2.Text);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Value3", this.TextBox3.Text);
conn.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
Generally speaking, using parameters eliminates syntax errors because it makes the command much easier to read in it's string representation.
I think you may be missing single quotes around some of your text qualifiers in your INSERT statement.
"INSERT into Prodotti ([Codice],[Descrizione],[Marchio],[Deposito],[Note],[NumeroProdotti],[PrzListinoBase_Aq],[PrzListinoBase_Ve],[Categoria],[Posizione],[Disponibilita],[QtaVenduta],[QtaAcquistata]) VALUES ('" + this.Codice.Text + "','" + this.Descr.Text + "','" + this.Marchio.Text + "','" + this.Deposito.Text + "'," + this.Note.Text + "," + this.NumProd.Text + "," + this.PrzListAcq.Text + "," + this.PrzListVen.Text + ",'" + this.Categ.Text + "','" + this.Posiz.Text + "'," + this.Disp.Text + "," + this.QtaVen.Text + "," + this.QtaAcq.Text + ")";
Consider using a parameterized query rather than building your query string by hand. Not only is it safer, but it can help to weed out these kinds of errors which can be tedious to debug.
eg.
String StrSQL = "INSERT INTO tblLog ([Part_Number],[Quantity],[Date],[LOC_Warehouse],[LOC_Row],[LOC_Section],[LOC_Level],[LOC_Bin],[Stock_Added],[Stock_Removed],[Quarantine_Set],[Quarantine_Removed])"
+ "VALUES(#Part_Number, #Quantity, #Date, #Warehouse, #Row, #Section, #Level, #Bin, #Stock_Added, #Stock_Removed, #Quarantine_Set, #Quarantine_Removed)";
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(WHITS.Properties.Settings.Default.LocalConnStr);
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(StrSQL, conn);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Part_Number", Part_Number);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Quantity", Quantity);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#Date", DateTime.Now);
//More Parameters... Skipped for brevity.
conn.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close();
Open your connection earlier. Also, use "using". Here's how I would do it:
try
{
string connectionString = #"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data source= Z:\Tempesta\Area Progetto\Area_Progetto_20_02_2014\Area_Progetto_DATA_MAGAZINE\Data_Magazine\Data_Magazine\DB\DataMG.mdb";
using (System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection conn = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionString))
{
conn.Open();
string insertQuery = "INSERT into Prodotti ([Codice],[Descrizione],[Marchio],[Deposito],[Note],[NumeroProdotti],[PrzListinoBase_Aq],[PrzListinoBase_Ve],[Categoria],[Posizione],[Disponibilita],[QtaVenduta],[QtaAcquistata]) VALUES ('" + this.Codice.Text + "','" + this.Descr.Text + "','" + this.Marchio.Text + "','" + this.Deposito.Text + "'," + this.Note.Text + "," + this.NumProd.Text + "," + this.PrzListAcq.Text + "," + this.PrzListVen.Text + ",'" + this.Categ.Text + "','" + this.Posiz.Text + "'," + this.Disp.Text + "," + this.QtaVen.Text + "," + this.QtaAcq.Text + ")";
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand cmd = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand(insertQuery, conn);
cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.Text;
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close();
}
}
Edit: My bad... the code I was referencing was filling a DataAdapter, which doesn't require a call to connection.Open(). Regular querying does. My apologies... I have edited my suggestion.

Why my query return null

I want to ask why query return null and not update what i want. Sorry I'm still new with asp.net and c#
myquery = "UPDATE kenderaan SET buatan = " + "'" + carmake + "'" + "," +
"model = " + "'" + carmodel + "'" + "," +
"no_enjin = " + "'" + carenjin + "'" + "," +
"cc = " + carcc + "," +
"seatCapacity = " + carseat + "," +
"tahunBuatan = " + caryear + " WHERE no_kenderaan = " + "'" + carid + "'" + "," +
"AND ic = " + "'" + cusid + "'";
connection = new DbConnection();
connection.Update(myquery);
restructure your code into this, use Connection object, Command Object, using statement.
string myquery = "UPDATE kenderaan SET buatan = #carmake ," +
" model = #carmodel ," +
" no_enjin = #carenjin ," +
" cc = #carcc ," +
" seatCapacity = #carseat ," +
" tahunBuatan = #caryear " +
"WHERE no_kenderaan = #carid " +
" AND ic = #cusid ";
using (MySqlConnection _conn = new MySqlConnection("connectionStringHere"))
{
using (MySqlCommand _comm = new MySqlCommand())
{
_comm.Connection = _conn;
_comm.CommandText = myquery;
_comm.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carmake",carmake);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carmodel",carmodel);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carenjin",carenjin);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carcc",carcc);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carseat",carseat);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#caryear",caryear);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carid",carid);
_comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("#cusid",cusid);
try
{
_conn.Open();
_comm.ExecuteNonQuery();
MessageBox.Show("Updated!");
}
catch (MySqlException e)
{
MessageBox.Show(e.ToString()); // as mentioned on the comment
}
}
}
Reasons why you need to parameterized your query:
avoids SQL Injection
makes your code more readable
etc.. :D
Sources
AddWithValue
Add (recommended and leaving you this as an assignment :D)
Create a DbCommand to execute the Update statement by using ExecuteNonQuery() method. If you are using SQL Server then you can use this piece of code snippet:
using System.Data.SqlClient;
string query = "UPDATE kenderaan SET buatan = #carmake" +
", model = #carmodel" +
", no_enjin = #carenjin" +
", cc = #carcc" +
", seatCapacity = #carseat" +
", tahunBuatan = #caryear" +
" WHERE no_kenderaan = #carid AND ic = #cusid";
using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("<connection string>"))
{
using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(query, conn))
{
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carmake", carmake);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carmodel", carmodel);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carenjin", carenjin);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carcc", carcc);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carseat", carseat);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#caryear", caryear);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#carid", carid);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("#cusid", cusid);
conn.Open();
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
}
}
Try this code in place of your code:
and make sure that varchar parameters are compare to string values.
string myquery = "UPDATE kenderaan SET buatan = '" + carmake + "',model = '"+
carmodel + "',no_enjin = '" +carenjin + "',cc = " + carcc + ",seatCapacity = " +
carseat + ",tahunBuatan = " + caryear +
" WHERE no_kenderaan = '" + carid + "' AND ic = '" + cusid + "'";
connection = new DbConnection();
connection.Update(myquery);
UPDATED: Apologize, I had just corrected your query with your where condition I just removed comma which you used to separate two condition.
To avoid SQL Injection Attacks, Use one of these :
1) Parameters with Stored Procedures
2) Use Parameters with Dynamic SQL
3) Constrain Input
