According to the answer here I want to write multiple files stream to one stream as following:
4 byte reserved for length number of each stream
each stream content write after it's length number(after 4 byte)
at the end stream will be something like this
Stream = File1 len + File1 stream content + File2 len + File2 stream content + ....
Example code:

multiple file byte will be serialized to one stream and in client side it will be deserialized to a class of byte array.

Since System.IO.Compression seems to be out of reach for now if I want to use both dotnet core + net461, I've tried with SharpCompress.
The "read zip" part was easy, but I am having trouble finding out how to write to a zip stream.
The wiki of the project is a bit outdated. This is the only example that I've found that applies to writing to streams. I've tried to follow it and adapt it to my needs, but I am stuck at the exception it throws:

2 things:
You forgot to reset the MemoryStream after writing to it so it can be read.
You don't need to manually use the DeflateStream. You've told the ZipWriter what compression to use. If it worked, you would have double compressed the bytes which would be garbage really.
I have files (from 3rd parties) that are being FTP'd to a directory on our server. I download them and process them even 'x' minutes. Works great.
Now, some of the files are .zip files. Which means I can't process them. I need to unzip them first.
FTP has no concept of zip/unzipping - so I'll need to grab the zip file, unzip it, then process it.
Looking at the MSDN zip api, there seems to be no way i can unzip to a memory stream?
So is the only way to do this...
Unzip to a file (what directory? need some -very- temp location ...)
Read the file contents
Delete file.
NOTE: The contents of the file are small - say 4k <-> 1000k.

Normally you should avoid copying it into another stream - just use it "as is", however, if you absolutely need it in a MemoryStream, you could do:

I'm using GZipStream to compress a string, and I've modified two different examples to see what works. The first code snippet, which is a heavily modified version of the example in the documentation, simply returns an empty string.

Why is the first code snippet not successful while the other one is? Even though they're slightly different, I don't know why the minor changes in the second snippet allow it to work. The sample string I'm using is SELECT * FROM foods f WHERE f.name = 'chicken';

The explanation for a part of the problem comes from this question. Although I fixed the problem by changing the code to what I included in this answer, these lines (in my original code):
foreach (byte b in compressedByteArray)
compressedStringBuilder.Append((char)b);
are problematic, because as dlev aptly phrased it:
You are interpreting each byte as its own character, when in fact that is not the case. Instead, you need the line:
string decoded = Encoding.Unicode.GetString(compressedByteArray);
The basic problem is that you are converting to a byte array based on an encoding, but then ignoring that encoding when you retrieve the bytes.
Therefore, the problem is solved, and the new code I'm using is much more succinct than my original code.
You need to move the code below outside the second using statement:

Update
Seems that GZipStream closes and disposes it's underlying stream when it is disposed (not the way I would have designed the class). I've updated the sample above and tested it.
I am attempting to create a new FileStream object from a byte array. I'm sure that made no sense at all so I will try to explain in further detail below.
Tasks I am completing:
1) Reading the source file which was previously compressed
2) Decompressing the data using GZipStream
3) copying the decompressed data into a byte array.
What I would like to change:
1) I would like to be able to use File.ReadAllBytes to read the decompressed data.
2) I would then like to create a new filestream object usingg this byte array.
In short, I want to do this entire operating using byte arrays. One of the parameters for GZipStream is a stream of some sort, so I figured I was stuck using a filestream. But, if some method exists where I can create a new instance of a FileStream from a byte array - then I should be fine.

It sounds like you need to use a MemoryStream.
Since you don't know how many bytes you'll be reading from the GZipStream, you can't really allocate an array for it. You need to read it all into a byte array and then use a MemoryStream to decompress.
