How to make grid view footer controls visible if grid view is empty

I have a grid view control in my page that indexes all the Lecture Contents. I have added a Text Box control and a Link Button. But for the Lectures that have no Content yet, the Grid View does not appear.
Have tried many references, as a result the footer has appeared but I am not able to insert data using the Controls in the footer.
My main objective is to make the Controls behave same in both scenarios.

Grid contains the different row type like header row , data row and footer row. You need to get content from the data row only then please check the row type first if it is a data row then try to get cell values. GridViewRow.RowType Property

How to modify this checkbox inside the GridView?

I have the following database design:
Employee Table: Username, Name, JobTitle, BadgeNo, IsActive, DivisionCode
Divisions Table: SapCode, DivisionShortcut
And I have a GridView that I am using it to add, delete and update/edit the employees information. This information is employee Username, Name, BadgeNo, JobTitle, IsActive and the DivisionShortcut. IsActive is a flag that indicates if the employee is available or in an assignment. I made it as a checkbox and the column should show two values; Active and Inactive. In the Edit mode, the Checkbox will be displayed. If it is checked, then it means the employee is avaiable, otherwise it is inactive.
I wrote the code and everything works fine, but now I am facing two problems and I don't know how to make them work with my code.
The GridView shows True or False instead of Active and Inactive and
I don't know why.
In the Edit mode, the checkbox will be displayed and the values (Active or Inactive) will be displayed besides to it and it shouldn't be displayed. I just want the checkbox to be displayed.
So how to modify them?

You have to add an Row_DataBound Event of your grid view, in which you select the IsActive column and replaced its text by Active and InActive. To prove that my code is working,I created a gridview with a single column

It is returning "true" or "false" as it is expecting a boolean data type from IsActive. If you want to change that out put, I suspect you need to amend this conditionally on the ItemDataBound event of the grid.

e.Row.findcontrol() returns null after databind but all databound fields work properly

I am trying to get a gridview to populate text from the database call to my Label as shown
The Results have been tested and are returning the correct names

In above written code only EDIT event is being fired & that is only once after that UPDATE,CANCEL no event is being fired. What am i doing wrong?All I want to do is change the GridRow Color on the basis of the value entered in QTY field.

I figured out the problem. The event was not firing because of the same IDs that i had given to the Label in each row. Hope this helpful to someone.

Not sure about your use of IsPostBackEventControlRegistered - I havent seen it used before but it seems that probably you are wiping out your update event by DataBind() every time in Page_Load().
Page_Load is fired every time the page loads which is then changing what the page is doing by resetting the grid.
Try wrapping the control in:
if(!IsPostBack)
{
// bind
}
so that it only does this on the first page load.
