I wonder why it gives me an exception of invalid parameter when i request the details of a file which is a video and want to get its resolution. I use:
var f = service.Files.Get(id);
f.Fields = "VideoMediaMetadata.Height";
var result = f.Execute();
I tried many different ways: "VideoMediaMetadata" without ".Height", "VideoMediaMetadata(height, width)", "VideoMediaMetadata/Height" etc. but nothing worked. When i do this for example:
f.Fields = "id, name, size";
It works fine.
Appreciate the help
It gives off an invalid parameter because GET was expecting a VideoMediaMetadata object resource but you instead tried to access the int values. I suggest passing VideoMediaMetadata as your parameter first and execute the request. After that, parse the response body for the 'height' and 'width' int property.
So using your code above:
f.Fields = "VideoMediaMetadata";

I have added a custom environment variable and I'm unable to get it to return in the ExpandEnvironmentVariables.
These 2 calls work fine:
string s = Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("TEST", EnvironmentVariableTarget.Machine);
// s = "D:\Temp2"
string path = Environment.ExpandEnvironmentVariables(#"%windir%\Temp1");
// path = "C:\Windows\Temp1"
However, this call returns the same input string:
var path = Environment.ExpandEnvironmentVariables(#"%TEST%\Temp1");
// path = "%TEST%\\Temp1"
I expect to get D:\Temp2\Temp1
What am I missing to correctly get the custom EnvironmentVariable in this last call?
Hans and Evk were correct in their comments. Since no one wanted to add an answer I'll close this question out.
For whatever reason ExpandEnvironmentVariables will not get any keys which were added after an application started. I also tested this with a running Windows Service. It was only after I restarted the service that new keys were found and populated.
This behavior is not documented in the Microsoft Documentation.
I am trying to set up a DirSync control. Previously I have [successfully] used the methods found in the System.DirectoryServices.Protocols, but I found that the results it returned were only partial objects - I wasn't able to have it return the homeDrive attribute from a user even if I defined it in the SearchRequest's Attributes property.
Thus, I'm attempting to set up DirSync following some of the documentation and examples using System.DirectoryServices instead. I was successful in connecting to my test server (only accessible by IP), and I was successful in targeting just one OU and searching for a user, as such:
byte[] cookie = null;
root = new DirectoryEntry(
"LDAP://[MyIPHere]/OU=test ou,DC=company,DC=com", "username", "password");
//Section A - Use this section for a regular search
DirectorySearcher src = new DirectorySearcher(root);
src.SearchScope = SearchScope.Subtree;
src.Filter = "(&(objectClass=user)(sAMAccountName=myuserhere)";
//Section B - Use this section for a DirSync
//src.DirectorySynchronization = new DirectorySynchronization(
DirectorySynchronizationOptions.IncrementalValues, cookie);
//src.Filter = "(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user))";
//Execute the code whichever section is used
SearchResultCollection result = src.FindAll();
int count = result.Count;
Console.WriteLine(count.ToString());
foreach (SearchResult res in result)
{
//do things
}
However, when I try to use section B instead of section A, I get an error on the line where I'm setting the int count. (I have tried passing no parameters to the constructor of src.DirectorySynchronization as in the example, same result):
COMException was unhandled
Access is denied.
I only get the error when I try to access the properties of the result object, or try to iterate. If I set a breakpoint on the int count line and look at the result object, I see the following in the value column of the result's Count:
'result.Count' threw an exception of type
'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException'
I have ensured that my account has the Replicating Directory Changes security access both for the specified OU and the test domain at large (and all other security access possible). I have also tried using a separate domain admin account.
I have the same issue if I try running this on our production domain, passing no credentials when constructing the DirectoryEntry object.
Considering that I can successfully retrieve other search results, what is it about this DirectorySynchronization that is causing the access issues, and why isn't it happening when I call src.FindAll()?
(I'm open to other options, but I'd like to avoid the USNChanged tracking method for now due to it returning the full objects back, and requiring additional coding on my end.)
The base of a DirSync search must be the root of a directory partition, i.e "DC=company,DC=com" in your case.
See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677626(v=vs.85).aspx
"Base of the search" in the table.
Some more good C# example for DirSync:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc188700.aspx#S1
See section "Finding Your Way with DirectorySearcher".
If you want to track changes only on a OU/container, yes, you will have to use USNChange.
Update: I downloaded Ramone project, added it to my project and then ran the application again with debugger. The error is shown below:
public MediaTypeWriterRegistration GetWriter(Type t, MediaType mediaType)
{
...
CodecEntry entry = SelectWriters(t, mediaType).FirstOrDefault(); => this line throws error
...
}
Error occurs in CodecManager.cs. I am trying to figure out why it does not recognize json-patch media type. Could it be because writer is not being registered correctly? I am looking into it. If you figure out the problem, please let me know. Since you are the author of the library, it will be easier for you to figure out the issue. I will have to go through all the code files and methods to find the issue. Thanks!
I was excited to know that Ramone library supports json-patch operations but when I tried it, I got following error:
415- Unsupported Media Type
This is the same error that I get when I use RestSharp. I thought may be RestSharp does not support json-patch and errors out so I decided to try Ramone lib but I still get same error. Endpoint has no issues because when I try same command using Postman, it works but when I try it programmatically in C#, it throws unsupported media type error. Here is my code:
var authenticator = new TokenProvider("gfdsfdsfdsafdsafsadfsdrj5o97jgvegh", "sadfdsafdsafdsfgfdhgfhehrerhgJ");
JsonPatchDocument patch = new JsonPatchDocument<MetaData>();
patch.Add("/Resident2", "Boyle");
//patch.Replace("/Resident", "Boyle");
RSession = RamoneConfiguration.NewSession(new Uri("https://api.box.com"));
RSession.DefaultRequestMediaType = MediaType.ApplicationJson;
RSession.DefaultResponseMediaType = MediaType.ApplicationJson;
Ramone.Request ramonerequest = RSession.Bind("/2.0/files/323433290812/metadata");
ramonerequest.Header("Authorization", "Bearer " + authenticator.GetAccessToken(code).AccessToken);
//var ramoneresponse = ramonerequest.Patch(patch); //results in error: 405 - Method Not Allowed
var ramoneresponse = ramonerequest.Put(patch); //results in error: 415 - Unsupported Media Type
var responsebody = ramoneresponse.Body
Endpoint information is available here: http://developers.box.com/metadata-api
I used json-patch section in the following article as a reference:
http://elfisk.dk/Ramone/Documentation/Ramone.pdf
By the way I tried Patch() method (as shown in above ref. article) but that resulted in "Method not allowed" so I used Put() method which seems to work but then errors out because of json-patch operation.
Any help, guidance, tips in resolving this problem will be highly appreciated. Thanks much in advance.

The Box documentation says you should use PUT (which is quite a bit funny). The server even tells you that it doesn't support the HTTP PATCH method (405 Method Not Allowed) - so PUT it must be.
Now, you tell Ramone to use JSON all the time (RSession.DefaultRequestMediaType = MediaType.ApplicationJson), so you end up PUT'ing a JSON document to Box - where you should be PUT'ing a JSON-Patch document.
Drop the "RSession.DefaultRequestMediaType = MediaType.ApplicationJson" statement and send the patch document as JSON-Patch with the use of: ramonerequest.ContentType("application/json-patch+json").Put(...).
Anyone here tried tweeting with an image using TweetSharp?
I tried the following:
Dictionary<string, Stream> imageDict = new Dictionary<string, Stream>();
imageDict.Add(imagePath, imageStream);
// I'm getting an error with the line below.
// It's saying I have some invalid arguments. :(
status = service.SendTweet(new SendTweetWithMediaOptions() { Status = readerMsg.Message, Images = imageDict });
But the last line is giving me an invalid argument error with no helpful reason why.
I tried looking at their GitHub page but the sample only illustrates how to post a simple text message.
See the first part of this pull request: TweetSharp Github
calling SendTweetWithMedia instead of SendTweet may be the case.
Also, the key in the dictionary, doesn't seems to be the image path (you're giving it a Stream anyway) example passes "test" to it.
--HTH
Have fun
service.SendTweet() accepts parameter of type SendTweetOptions, If you want to post images you can use
service.SendTweetWithMedia(new SendTweetWithMediaOptions
{
Status = "message",
Images = dictionary
}
);
I am currently working on an Webservice to retrieve a pdf Document from an Crystal Report. As lonmg as there are no parameter Values in the Report, the service works fine. As soon as I use parameters in a Query the Reports can't be shown anymore and I retrieve an error like 'missing parameter values'. But there is only one Parameter and I am pretty sure that I set the value of that parameter...
Here is the Code where I change/ add the value:
// param is a string like 'parametername:value'
string index = param.Split(':')[0];
string value = param.Split(':')[1];
// repDoc is the current Report
repDoc.ParameterFields[index].CurrentValues.Clear();
repDoc.ParameterFields[index].CurrentValues.AddValue(value);
// now i create the PDF as an HTTPresponse
repDoc.ExportToHttpResponse(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, response, false, "Report");
I really have no idea why it doesnt work...
Try to debug if param is really set?
I am sure != I checked it
I have found the mistake...
I did a repDoc.refresh() before I created the Report.. seems like the Parameter Values are dropped that way... after removing the Refresh everything works fine :)
thx for the help!!!
