Captcha MVC 2.5(Vyacheslav) Refresh Button not working - c#

in a project I'm working on I have to use Captcha MVC 2.5.
It generally works fine except the Refresh button which doesn't seem to do anything despite me following all the instructions in http://vvson.net/
Here is the complete code of the Partial View:
#model CaptchaMvc.Models.DefaultBuildInfoModel
<img id="#Model.ImageElementId" src="#Model.ImageUrl" style="border: 1px solid #ccc"/>
#Html.Hidden(Model.TokenElementId, Model.TokenValue)
<br/>
#{
string id = Guid.NewGuid().ToString("N");
string functionName = string.Format("______{0}________()", Guid.NewGuid().ToString("N"));
Model.RefreshButtonText = "Refresh";
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$('##id').show();
});
function #functionName {
$('##id').hide();
$.post("#Model.RefreshUrl", { #Model.TokenParameterName: $('##Model.TokenElementId').val() },
function() {
$('##id').show();
});
return false;
}
</script>
#Model.RefreshButtonText
}
#if (Model.IsRequired)
{
#Html.TextBox(Model.InputElementId, null, new { data_val = true, data_val_required = Model.RequiredMessage, style = "width:192px" })
}
else
{
#Html.TextBox(Model.InputElementId, null, new { style = "width:192px" })
}
#Html.ValidationMessage(Model.InputElementId)
I have also tried #Model.InputElementId in the href of the Refresh button (as in the "instructions") but it doesn't make any difference, plus it seems to me it's trying to refresh the textbox...
The guide in http://vvson.net/ does not help a lot as it is a bit vague so I'm relying on you guys here, hoping someone has used Captcha MVC and has a solution!
Edit:
Here is what the debugger outputs (using InputElementId)
$(function() {
$('#38d3e40f39354e5ab959a51ef9da2029').show();
});
function ______caf6b1a371bc474bb3c35f5f7705a4c8________() {
$('#38d3e40f39354e5ab959a51ef9da2029').hide();
$.post("/ourUI/de/DefaultCaptcha/Refresh", { t: $('#CaptchaDeText').val() },
function() {
$('#38d3e40f39354e5ab959a51ef9da2029').show();
debugger;
});
return false;

Jquery click doesn't work twice

I'm trying to write CRUD operations using ajax. Here some code:
These are my View classes:
//PhotoSummary
#model PhotoAlbum.WEB.Models.PhotoViewModel
<div class="well">
<h3>
<strong>#Model.Name</strong>
<span class="pull-right label label-primary">#Model.AverageRaiting.ToString("# stars")</span>
</h3>
<span class="lead">#Model.Description</span>
#Html.DialogFormLink("Update", Url.Action("UpdatePhoto", new {photoId = #Model.PhotoId}), "Update Photo", #Model.PhotoId.ToString(), Url.Action("Photo"))
</div>
//Main View
#model PhotoAlbum.WEB.Models.PhotoListViewModel
#{
ViewBag.Title = "My Photos";
}
#foreach (var p in #Model.Photos)
{
<div id=#p.PhotoId>
#Html.Action("Photo", new {photo = p})
</div>
}
The sript:
$('.dialogLink').on('click', function () {
var element = $(this);
var dialogTitle = element.attr('data-dialog-title');
var updateTargetId = '#' + element.attr('data-update-target-id');
var updateUrl = element.attr('data-update-url');
var dialogId = 'uniqueName-' + Math.floor(Math.random() * 1000)
var dialogDiv = "<div id='" + dialogId + "'></div>";
$(dialogDiv).load(this.href, function () {
$(this).dialog({
modal: true,
resizable: false,
title: dialogTitle,
close: function () { $(this).empty(); },
buttons: {
"Save": function () {
// Manually submit the form
var form = $('form', this);
$(form).submit();
},
"Cancel": function () { $(this).dialog('close'); }
}
});
$.validator.unobtrusive.parse(this);
wireUpForm(this, updateTargetId, updateUrl);
});
return false;
});});
function wireUpForm(dialog, updateTargetId, updateUrl) {
$('form', dialog).submit(function () {
if (!$(this).valid())
return false;
$.ajax({
url: this.action,
type: this.method,
data: $(this).serialize(),
success: function (result) {
if (result.success) {
$(dialog).dialog('close');
$(updateTargetId).load(updateUrl);
} else {
$(dialog).html(result);
$.validator.unobtrusive.parse(dialog);
wireUpForm(dialog, updateTargetId, updateUrl);
}
}
});
return false;
});
}
And here my Tag builder:
public static MvcHtmlString DialogFormLink(this HtmlHelper htmlHelper, string linkText, string dialogContentUrl,
string dialogTitle, string updateTargetId, string updateUrl)
{
TagBuilder builder = new TagBuilder("a");
builder.SetInnerText(linkText);
builder.Attributes.Add("href", dialogContentUrl);
builder.Attributes.Add("data-dialog-title", dialogTitle);
builder.Attributes.Add("data-update-target-id", updateTargetId);
builder.Attributes.Add("data-update-url", updateUrl);
builder.AddCssClass("dialogLink");
return new MvcHtmlString(builder.ToString());
}
So, I have major problem if the dialog was called twice without the calling page being refreshed:
it just redirects me to the action page.
The question is how to update #Html.Action without reloading the page?
Could anyone help me?
Your #foreach loop in the main view is generating a partial view for each Photo which in turn is creating a link with class="dialogLink".
Your script handles the click event of these links and replaces it with a new link with class="dialogLink". But the new link does not have a .click() handler so clicking on the new (replacement) link does not activate your script.
Instead you need to use event delegation to handle events for dynamically generated content using the .on() method (refer also here for more information on event delegation). Note also that your current use of $('.dialogLink').on('click', function () { is the equivalent of $('.dialogLink').click(function () { and is not using event delegation. It attaches a handler to elements that exist in the DOM at the time the page is loaded, not to elements that might be added in the future.
Change your html to
<div id="photos">
#foreach (var p in #Model.Photos)
{
<div class="photo">#Html.Action("Photo", new { photo = p })</div>
}
</div>
and then modify the script to
$('#photos').on('click', '.dialogLink', function() {
....
});
Side note: There is no real need to add an id=#p.PhotoId to the containing div element and you could use <div class="photo"> as per above, and then reference it by using var updateTargetId = $(this).closest('.photo'); and delete the builder.Attributes.Add("data-update-target-id", updateTargetId); line of code from your DialogFormLink() method

Why Jquery is not working for asp.net textbox's CssClass Property?

I am tying to validate the textboxes for achieving 'alphabets only' property in asp.net page with Jquery.
Here is the code
<script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.js"></script>
<script src="//code.jquery.com/ui/1.11.2/jquery-ui.js"></script>
.............codes.............
<script type="text/javascript">
$('.alph').keypress(function (e) {
var regex = new RegExp("^[a-zA-Z\s]+$");
var str = String.fromCharCode(!e.charCode ? e.which : e.charCode);
if (regex.test(str)) {
return true;
}
else {
e.preventDefault();
alert('Alphabets only');
return false;
}
});
</script>
.............codes.............
<asp:TextBox ID="txt_name" CssClass="alph" BorderColor="Gray" Font-Size="Large" Height="25" Width="250" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
This code didn't work and I am sure my computer is connected to the internet to reach code.jquery.com. Help me please.
try this script code after Document.ready block
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.alph').keypress(function (e) {
var regex = new RegExp("^[a-zA-Z\s]+$");
var str = String.fromCharCode(!e.charCode ? e.which : e.charCode);
if (regex.test(str)) {
return true;
}
else {
e.preventDefault();
alert('Alphabets only');
return false;
}
});
});
Before you can safely use jQuery you need to ensure that the page is in a state where it's ready to be manipulated. With jQuery, we accomplish this by putting our code in a function, and then passing that function to $(document).ready(). The function we pass can just be an anonymous function.
My mistake! Since I am new to Jquery I didn't know about 'doc.ready' I corrected the code as
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#<%=txt_name.ClientID %>').keypress(function (e) {
var regex = new RegExp("^[a-zA-Z\s]+$");
var str = String.fromCharCode(!e.charCode ? e.which : e.charCode);
if (regex.test(str)) {
return true;
}
else {
e.preventDefault();
alert('Alphabets only');
return false;
}
});
});
Code works perfect!

C# MVC4: Replace <div> when selection is made from a Html.DropDownList using jQuery

I need to be able to populate data into a <div> or some other sort of section from an object after the corresponding string has been selected from a drop down list (lazy loading).
When a chnage is made in the dropdownlist, I want the method in my controller to be called which will fill in <div id=result></div> with the output from the method.
Perhaps I am approaching this problem wrong.
I suspect the problem is in my JavaScript.
Here is my approach:
View:
<div>#Html.DropDownList("MyDDL") </div>
<br>
<div id="result"></div>
JavaScript:
<script type ="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#MyDDL").change(function () {
var strSelected = "";
$("#MyDDL option:selected").each(function () {
strSelected += $(this)[0].value;
});
var url = "HomeController/showInfo";
//I suspect this is not completely correct:
$.post(url, {str: strSelected},function (result) {
$("result").html(result);
});
});
});
</script>
Controller (Perhaps I shouldn't be using PartialViewResult):
public ActionResult Index()
{
List<string> myList = new List<string>();
List<SelectListItem> MyDDL = new List<SelectListItem>();
myList.Add("Tim");
myList.Add("Joe");
myList.Add("Jim");
//fill MyDDL with items from myList
MyDDL = myList
.Select(x => new SelectListItem { Text = x, Value = x })
.ToList();
ViewData["MyDDL"] = MyDDL;
return View();
}
[HttpPost]
public PartialViewResult showInfo(string str)
{
Person p = new Person(str); //name is passed to constructor
p.LoadInfo(); //database access in Person Model
ViewBag.Info = p.Info;
return PartialView("_result");
}
_result.cshtml:
<p>
#ViewBag.Info
</p>
Thanks You.
Change your script a little bit. Missing a # in the jQuery selecter for result div . Use the code given below
$.post(url, {str: strSelected},function (result) {
$("#result").html(result);
});
In my opinion if the javascript are in local don't need put $.post(url, {str: strSelected},function (result) {
You can use
//I suspect this is not completely correct:
$("#result").html(result);
try it
Did you try debugging p.LoadInfo() if it has any value? I also have some suggestions for your script:
Try adding keyup in your event so you can get the value in cases when the arrow keypad is used insted of clicking:
$("#MyDDL").on("change keyup", function () {
// you can get the dropdown value with this
var strSelected = $(this).val();
So I made the following changes and it worked:
View:
<div><%= Html.DropDownList("MyDDL") %> </div>
<br>
<span></span>
JavaScript:
<script type ="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#MyDDL").change(function () {
var strSelected = $("#MyDDL option:selected").text();
var url = "/Home/showInfo";
$.post(url, {str: strSelected},function (result) {
$("span").html(result);
});
});
});
_result.cshtml:
#ViewBag.Info
The Controller was left unchanged.

bing map does not load

Im doing a web application in C# and ASP.NET MVC4.
Im having a problem with loading a map on one of my view pages...
I have the map on my Details page and the you go from Index page to Details page.
This is some of my code:
<div id='myMap' style="position:relative; width:400px; height:400px;">
</div>
<div>
<input type="button" value="createWalkingRoute" onclick="createDirections();" />
</div>
<div id='directionsItinerary'> </div>
#section scripts{
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=7.0"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var map = null;
var directionsManager;
var directionsErrorEventObj;
var directionsUpdatedEventObj;
function getMap() {
map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById('myMap'), { credentials: 'mykey' });
}
function createDirectionsManager() {
var displayMessage;
if (!directionsManager) {
directionsManager = new Microsoft.Maps.Directions.DirectionsManager(map);
displayMessage = 'Directions Module loaded\n';
displayMessage += 'Directions Manager loaded';
}
alert(displayMessage);
directionsManager.resetDirections();
directionsErrorEventObj = Microsoft.Maps.Events.addHandler(directionsManager, 'directionsError', function (arg) { alert(arg.message) });
directionsUpdatedEventObj = Microsoft.Maps.Events.addHandler(directionsManager, 'directionsUpdated', function () { alert('Directions updated') });
}
function createWalkingRoute() {
if (!directionsManager) { createDirectionsManager(); }
directionsManager.resetDirections();
// Set Route Mode to walking
directionsManager.setRequestOptions({ routeMode: Microsoft.Maps.Directions.RouteMode.walking });
var seattleWaypoint = new Microsoft.Maps.Directions.Waypoint({ address: 'Seattle, WA' });
directionsManager.addWaypoint(seattleWaypoint);
var redmondWaypoint = new Microsoft.Maps.Directions.Waypoint({ address: 'Redmond, WA', location: new Microsoft.Maps.Location(47.678561, -122.130993) });
directionsManager.addWaypoint(redmondWaypoint);
// Set the element in which the itinerary will be rendered
directionsManager.setRenderOptions({ itineraryContainer: document.getElementById('directionsItinerary') });
alert('Calculating directions...');
directionsManager.calculateDirections();
}
function createDirections() {
if (!directionsManager) {
Microsoft.Maps.loadModule('Microsoft.Maps.Directions', { callback: createWalkingRoute });
}
else {
createWalkingRoute();
}
}
getMap();
</script>
}
When you go first go on the Details page the map doesn't load. However if the page is then refreshed, then the map loads after. So to me this is some sort of loading problem. But after trying for few hours Im absolutely stuck.
Can anyone help? thanks
put the getMap() call into some place where it will be called after the page is loaded, for example the body onload event. If you are using jquery, $(document).ready().

ASP.Net MVC Jquery UI Autocomplete - list not showing up when I debug

I have implemented an autocomplete in my app for zip codes. I am debugging in Firebug and I see in my console that the action is performing and I get a list of zip codes in the list of results, but the actual list is not displaying when I debug.
Here's the action in my Customers controller:
//the autocomplete request sends a parameter 'term' that contains the filter
public ActionResult FindZipCode(string term)
{
string[] zipCodes = customerRepository.FindFilteredZipCodes(term);
//return raw text, one result on each line
return Content(string.Join("\n", zipCodes));
}
Here's the markup (abbreviated)
<% using (Html.BeginForm("Create", "Customers")) {%>
<input type="text" value="" name="ZipCodeID" id="ZipCodeID" />
<% } %>
and here's the order I load my scripts:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-1.4.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery.ui.core.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery.ui.widget.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery.ui.position.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery.ui.autocomplete.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#ZipCodeID").autocomplete({ source: '<%= Url.Action("FindZipCode", "Customers") %>'});
});
</script>
Anything obvious that I'm missing? Like I say the script is grabbing the list of zip codes, they just won't display on my page when I test.
EDIT: I added an image that shows what I see in firebug - it appears that I get my zip codes back, but just won't display the dropdown.
I also updated my text box so that it's inside of the ui-widget div like so:
<div class="ui-widget">
<input type="text" name="ZipCodeID" id="ZipCodeID" />
</div>
and this is the script that I'm using:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#ZipCodeID").autocomplete('<%= Url.Action("FindZipCode", "Customers") %>');
});
</script>
I was able to get the autocomplete suggestions working using the following code:
Controller:
public JsonResult FindZipCode(string term)
{
VetClinicDataContext db = new VetClinicDataContext();
var zipCodes = from c in db.ZipCodes
where c.ZipCodeNum.ToString().StartsWith(term)
select new { value = c.ZipCodeID, label = c.ZipCodeNum};
return this.Json(zipCodes, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
Markup:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#ZipCodeID").autocomplete({
source: '<%= Url.Action("FindZipCode", "Customers") %>',
});
});
</script>
<div class="ui-widget"><input type="text" name="ZipCodeID" id="ZipCodeID" /></div>
I had huge problems with autocomplete few months ago when first setting it up. For instance, the simple default wireup like you do it never worked for me. I had to specify everything and also attach the result function to it.
This works 100% but it might not be suitable for you. But I hope it helps. Put both in document.ready() function.
$("#products").autocomplete('<%:Url.Action("GetProducts", "Product") %>', {
dataType: 'json',
parse: function (data) {
var rows = new Array(data.length), j;
for (j = 0; j < data.length; j++) {
rows[j] = { data: data[j], value: data[j].Title, result: data[j].Title };
}
return rows;
},
formatItem: function (row, y, n) {
return row.PrettyId + ' - ' + row.Title + ' (' + row.Price + ' €)';
},
width: 820,
minChars: 0,
max: 0,
delay: 50,
cacheLength: 10,
selectFirst: true,
selectOnly: true,
mustMatch: true,
resultsClass: "autocompleteResults"
});
$("#products").result(function (event, data, formatted) {
if (data) {
var item = $("#item_" + data.PrettyId),
edititem = $("#edititem_" + data.PrettyId),
currentQuantity;
// etc...
}
});
Try returning JSON from your controller action:
public ActionResult FindZipCode(string term)
{
string[] zipCodes = customerRepository.FindFilteredZipCodes(term);
return Json(new { suggestions = zipCodes }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
Also don't forget to include the default CSS or you might not see the suggestions div appear.
