I guess you have a list which you use to bind in the DropDownList.
Look for the SelectionChanged event, when the event is fired you can use the SelectedIndex to use in your list and get the value you want.

I have a table called Vendor that has two columns: VendorNum & VendorName.
Is there a way to create a list or a listbox or a listview that when a button is clicked, this vendor list will pop up. Then the selected popup list's row will pass the selected VendorNum into a textbox that's in the parent page..
I only know GridView has the select row option, but is it a proper way to put the gridview into a Listbox so the list can be scrolled up/down all within a fixed box?
You might want to take a look at the ListBox.SelectValue and/or ListBox.SelectedItem properties
I have a textbox named textbox1 and a dropdownlist. Dropdownlist contains the list of branches and i want that when i select a branch from dropdown i want to get the respective branch code to be generated in a textbox from the Database or from c# coding. How will it be possible ?
Am I missing something, is it more complex that just putting an event handler on the dropdown so that when it's value changes it calls your method that can do whatever it needs to do to generate the string for the textbox?
Skipping passed the "database" portion of your question (and assuming your data isn't bound to the DropDownList)..
One way in ASP.NET, to accomplish this, I believe, is to have your code print DropDownList.SelectedValue's value in the textbox during an event.
Here is a link showing how to bind an event to DropDownList in jQuery
i had two combobox(Catogery, product) in my grid.
what i want to do is.
if i select category it will display some data set value based on category,
and if i select product it will bind some values in that datagrid cells.like price quantity..
i don't have idea about how to write event for combo box selected index change event which is inside the grid.
Handle the CellEndEdit event on the DataGridView. You'll have to test that the sender is the correct DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, read the value, and use that to bind the other DataGridViewComboBoxColumn to the appropriate data source.
I'm not sure about that, because I don't have visual studio at the moment. But there must be an event called RowCellValueChanged event, write your code in this event, hand row index with EventArgs e and set your values to row which you have an index of row.
In my project i have used four number of dropdownlists in a single form.
when im selecting an item from the 1st dropdownlist, the dropdownlist2 has to display the items that matches the selected item from dropdowmlist1.
Please clear my doubt.,
Use the SelectedIndexChanged-event on the first dropdownlist. Everytime the user selects a different item in the dropdownlist, this event is fired. In the method body you can now react to the change and filter the items of the second dropdownlist to match the selected item of the first dropdownlist. You can either do that manually in a loop or use LINQ (Enumerable.Select).
first of all its called a combobox.
Implement the OnSelectedItemChanged event from the combobox to fill the 2nd combobox

If we select the dropdown list Item then I want to display the Item Particulars in the Gridview Please Help me
On the SelectedIndexChanged of the dropdown rebind your GridView off of the selected value
Add a dropdownlist control, a button control, a grid view and an sqldatasource.
Configure the datasource first in sqldatasource.
I would recommend write a storeprodure to fetch data into the gridview (sqldatasource).
Bound the parameter to "controls" and select the dropdownlist. Now your DDL is bound to the gridivew. In his table click on advance properties and change property convertemptystringto null = false. (there property is something similar).
If you want a button to update the grid view, do this. Add the default event control to the button, put no code in it.
If you want to change the grid view content based on select directly then choose autopost on selected changed in properties of the DDL.
If everything is fine, this should populate your grid view based on contents in DropDownlist
