ComboBox-> adding this little triangle on the right - c#

When using standard ComboBox in xaml in WindowsPhone application you get ComboBox which does not look like an old style ComboBox i.e. it does not have this little triangle on the right.
Can anyone point me to example, or give me a hint or solution:
How do we add this little triangle to ComboBox control.
All I need is to make ComboBox look like:

The x:name="DropDownGlyph" is what you are looking for. It looks like the symbol you want to display is &#57361. If it isn't showing up it could be a styling somewhere else you are using that is overriding the default.

UWP changing the Tick color on a Sider control

I am in the process of learning to use UWP ( Universal Windows Platform). I am struggling to figure out how change the color of the Tick marks on a Slider control. The generic control does not have a property for this. Searches via Google, come up with 'SliderTickBarFill' but they do not explain how to acquire such a property. I fear this may mean installing 3rd party custom controls - however, this is also mentioned on the Microsoft site ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/uwp/api/windows.ui.xaml.controls.slider?view=winrt-19041 ). I would greatly appreciate help to execute what I believe should be a very simple thing, but which is driving me to distraction. ( maybe I can't see the wood for the trees ? ).

If several sliders are used, and I wanted different tick colors for each one ( due to different backgrounds ), is it possible to change them on an individual basis
For your requirement, the better way is custom Slider, and add dependency property for Tick, and you could change it dynamically.

You can put the styles in the App.xaml to make it accessible globally. You can add the style within the App.xaml like this:

My TextBox vanishes when I add a VisualState

I try to use Visual States in a Windows Phone 8 application (C#-XAML). The screen is dark. Here is the style I defined in App.xaml:

TextBox vanishes because you override its ControlTemplate and doesn't provide any content host.
Copy the default template of TextBox from MSDN and change the StoryBoard as per your needs.
Anyhow this is ControlTemplate which you can use. It also change border brush to green on focus. Hope this is what you want:

Strange Cross inside TextBox

Have a problem with TextBox. If I set property TextWrap like NoWrap, I see a cross inside my TextBox. Can I delete or hide this cross?
UPD: Solution for my problem :
Set TextWrap like Wrap
I use FontSize 72px, and I set Height for my TextBox 72px.
And it will look like your TextBox without multiline and cross inside.

The cross is the DeleteButton that is built into the default template which if you look at it in that link and go to the bottom of the default template you'll see the DeleteButton Button at the bottom of the template. You can remove it there or the way I showed in the last post. :)
To get to the template (quickest way) is right-click your TextBox and choose "Edit Template" and then either edit a copy (which will put the template in your window.resources) and define it explicitly or edit the original template.
PS- You might add the image you had in your last post to this one for the viewers at home.

Disabling hover options for sliders in metro apps

I'm writing a simple metro app in C# which uses sliders. The problem is that sliders change the foreground color, when the pointer is over it. How can I disable it? This is very annoying, because it destroys my visual concept of the application.

You need to customize the Slider's style. Below given is default style. You just need to comment out PointerOver visual state. This solution is for Win8 apps. Let me of you want for 8.1 or 8.
