I have created an application that needs to run on a standalone machine that has and cannot have any internet connection.
Everything was going well until I tried to run the app in visual studio 2013. I have found that I need to be connected to the internet when I first run the app in the IDE. The issue is that it seems to need to load symbols from application extensions. I have used a few extensions, xceed WPF toolkit, BrainboxesIO, Log4net, SnmpSharpNet. After the app runs once it doesnt need to happen again until I reboot my machine. How can I prevent the need for internet connectivity, firstly whilst developing in the IDE.
I have tried to deploy my app. I can create a setup project. But as soon as I use the configuration manager to go to release, I lose reference to the same extensions. If I create a .msi in debug the app runs, but again needs the internet when it first runs. I can then disconnect and it runs provided I don't reboot, which is obviously not what I need.
Anyone have any idea what I'm not doing right?

Our company has a native iOS app that was built in Xamarin/Visual Studio. We originally uploaded it to the App Store a few years ago and have made a few changes to it over the years.
The app itself is very basic. It's basically just a web view that navigates to a Single Page Application. There is very little native app code in the project.
Every week or so I regular launch the native app on our company iPad. Instead of running a version pulled down from the App Store, I periodically rebuild and upload the app from a Mac Mini running Visual Studio and/or debug it directly from the Mac Mini through Visual Studio.
A few days ago I tried launching the native app and after opening it immediately closed. I tried rebooting the iPad but the app still minimizes/closes immediately after opening. If I double-tab the Home button on the iPad, I can see the app still running in the background, but any time I tap on it it immediately minimizes itself.
I tried Cleaning and Rebuilding the native app solution in Visual Studio and re-uploading it to the iPad and that didn't fix it. I updated Visual Studio (and all of its packages) on the Mac Mini, updated XCode, updated Mac OS, updated iOS on the iPad, and nothing resolved the issue.
When I attempt to debug the app from Visual Studio, it shows two error codes in the Output window: MT1043 and MT1007. The debugger always fails to attach to the app as well.
I've tried Googling the error codes and the problem itself and haven't found anything that has worked. I've tried generating a new Development Certificate and Provisioning Profile to use to sign the app when uploading it to the iPad but that didn't work either.
What's strange is that if I download the app off of the App Store it works just fine. The source code that I'm attempting to build/run right now is identical to what it was at the time it was deployed to the app store. What else is strange is that, if I spin up an iOS Emulator and upload/debug against that, the app works just fine.
I tried using a different iPad and it had the same issue. The app minimizes itself immediately after attempting to launch it.
Found the answer. Had to set the system certificate trust from "Always Trust" to "Use System Default". Same solution as provided here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/52506186/9704484
First of all, thank you everybody for all you do for the community, I have found so many answers on this forum.
I am working on a Large winforms project that connects to a WCF server.
I am using Visual Studio 2015 and .NET 4.0.
As of this morning, when I do a build on our Nant Build Server (Windows Server 2003), and update my test application I am getting a "Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program" once I click my Login button.
So the App Loads, the Main Form loads but this is thrown when I click Login.
However, if I build and debug the App locally, I am able to run the application just fine.
Unfortunately, I did not setup the Build server as I have come in after the Architects and am in charge of Maintenance and Updating.
The differences between the last build that worked and the current build are very minute.
I removed a PictureBox, renamed a Tab, Updated some DLLs that link to the Server after adding another Server Call.
I know the Server is working correctly because I am pointing to the same server when I am Debugging or running the Downloaded App.
Thank you so much, and I will be happy to provide you with any more information!
I am using visual studio 2010 on .net4.0 for my projects and I've found that each time I do a change in my project, I build and run but I cannot see my changes. I've found this happening once or twice mostly with my web service projects. I'm no pro with web services and am encountering this problem for the first time so would be grateful to anybody who can tell me what has gone wrong with my project and how to fix it.
Edit
My asmx file is where I have added an additional method but am not able to see it when I run F5
When you change the compiled code in a web service or site, you need to make sure you restart the web server hosting that service or site.
You are probably using the ASP.Net Development Server. Although Visual Studio starts this server for you, it does not restart it automatically when you rebuild. As a result, the server will still be referencing the previous version of the assembly that you changed.
In the Windows system tray you should see one or more icons depicting a web page with a purple gear overlapping it at the bottom-left.
There are three of them in this example:
You can stop the server by right-clicking its icon and selecting "Stop". (If you have more than one, you will learn to identify the one you need to stop by recognizing the port number shown in the tooltip when you hover the mouse over the icon.) Visual Studio will restart it when needed.
When you're making changes to a service or site, use this workflow:
Make code changes
Stop the ASP.Net Development Server
Rebuild the project containing the changes
Run
Client-side code vs. Server-side code
If you're changing client-side code (HTML or JavaScript), then you may need to force your web browser to refresh its cache. In Windows this is normally done by pressing CTRL+F5 in the browser (see refreshyourcache.com/en/cache for more info). If you're changing compiled code (C#), and restarting the server doesn't help, try restarting Visual Studio, then do Build -> Clean Solution, then Rebuild.
If you are facing issues in ASP.Net Development Server, I think you are better off creating a virtual directory in IIS and host your web service there. That way you should be able to make your changes, just build it (don't run it) and that should be available on your virtual directory and you just browse to webservice. Then you don't have to hit F5 again and again and don't have to worry about instances of ASP.NET dev server.
Following article contains good step-by-step instructions on how you do it on IIS 7.0. This article is about hosting a website - however, hosting a webservice is not different.

I have created a windows application using c# VS express 2012. The app works great in the VS environment. I have published the application using VS(ClickOnce) to the Desktop as an offline application, which does not check for updates. The app is not signed and security is disabled. The application seems to install fine when I run the setup.exe file. However, when I try to run the program from the start menu nothing happens. In the task manager, a process for the application appears for a few seconds then just goes away. The app window doesn't show and there aren't any indications of an error. If I navigate directly to the .exe of the app (%userprofile%\appdata\local\apps\2.0\%random id%......) and run it that way, it starts up and appears to function as designed. I've done some research and found that certain drivers and software (if installed) will cause this behavior (i.e. Kensington Mouse driver and Provencia software(?)). I've checked and I do not have either of these installed. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The reason I ask is that I must be doing it incorrectly as I am having a lot of problems and I feel like I am chasing my tail here.
Using the how-to here, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/zt39148a.aspx, and that works great.
So this windows service that I have built is a part of a solution that contains an ASP.NET MVC3 web UI, a class library business domain, and an installer for the windows service. Both the windows service and the MVC3 app reference the class library. I've marked only the Windows Service project as the "primary output" in the installer app.
Now, after a reboot, I can do build the installer and install the service and it runs great. However, after that first time, I have nothing but problems. In visual Studio, the uninstall option is grayed out, which is wrong, it should be active. I can uninstall in Windows but for some reason the process is still running. From there I cannot rebuild the installer project because the exe won't delete and is still running.
Where am I going wrong?
