In my WPF application I need to draw some dynamic line chart, that receives data from a background process and can be updated at runtime. I need also that graph is not static but moves while data arrives from other process.
I've read about OxyPlot and DynamicDataDisplay but the first does not work for me (see Unable to load system.core when including oxyplot in WPF window XAML) and the second has no documentation to explain how to use it.
Anybody knows another library?
Telerik, DevExpress and Xceed all have WPF charting libraries tho' they are all paid for annual licenses.
In terms of open source, you've basically got OxyPlot or the WPF Toolkit Charting 4.0 (where there is a properly ported to .NET 4.0 and including Stacked chart series) at http://dlaa.me/blog/post/9910837

I want to create a simple windows form application which looks like Microsoft Word. I am using RichTextBox control right now. I did not find any way to make it have multiple pages, as Microsoft Word does. I just need a control (I guess it is RichTextbox) that can have multiple pages. I have tried RichTextBox but it was completely useless. Is there any other control or does Microsoft Word have any API to interact with through C# code? Is there any control to use?
This is the closest solution that I can suggest, but it is not exactly what you are asking for.
Basically, you can use some of the Microsoft office objects and classes, but it is not just a plug and play interface and requires some work on your end.
You may like this one too (again not a simple rich text control)

My challenge is to create a WPF application which allows the user to add / place a set of controls (gauges, charts, etc.) dynamically on a canvas at runtime and save the view (control coordinates etc.) they have designed. Those controls will display real time information from connected machines.
I'd like to know if there are any commercial or open source solutions available for this scenario. I am also grateful for any hints on where to start.
This is pretty simple stuff. If you use a Canvas and bind it to a list of items (x, y, rotation, z order, data source etc), then use ItemTemplates to style the individual control styles, then serialize the whole lot for saving/loading.
Edit: this post might give you some pointers Is it possible to bind a Canvas's Children property in XAML?
You could also try the SharpDevelop WPF Designer https://github.com/icsharpcode/WpfDesigner

I did a business app on the Windows Phone 8 platform (XAML, C#),
and used the microsoft.phone.toolkit to make an awesome calendar.
Now I need to rewrite the app for the Surface (winrt) and there is no easy way to this as far as I have searched, I got one perfectly fine calendar, Here, but I can't edit it to look like the rest of my metro app, so I would like any advice or links to classes I can use to get a calendar into my app? I don't have the time to create my own from scratch... But will do it if I can get a very good tutorial on where to start with it.
Actually, both of you guys point to exact same project I wrote sometime ago. If you want to change the look of the calendar, just create your own style that replaces the one that ships with nuget. The link from above does show a style that ships with it. You can either edit that one or (better) create your own and inject it through a resource dictionary. if you download project from CodePlex, it should show you how to replace default styles.
Thanks.

I want my WPF app to look like WinRT apps:
Are there any ready-made styles or controls available for WPF that lets us achieve this?
Take a look at MahApps.Metro
Apps like Github for Windows use / are based on it.
Another nice library for Metroesque-styling of WPF apps is Modern UI for WPF. Can be installed via NuGet or as a project template.

I am looking for a .net control that allows for the editing of images. The following features would be desirable:
Crop
Zoom
Pen
Line
Brush
Circle
Polygon
Full undo / redo
Measure Tool
Layers(not critical)
This control can either be Winforms or WPF, but would need to be extensible.
I am happy for it to be a commecial control or open source. If source code is also available C# is desired.
I ended up finding that an "Image annotation" control satisfied all of my needs.
I went with VintaSoftAnnotation.NET Plug-in
In my research I found others:
leadtools
atalasoft dotimage
accusoft imagegear
This would help :
