I have to create an exe of an website created in asp.net using visual studio 2010.
I don't known whether exe of web application can be created or not, but I want that my application with database will be able to run on another system where visual studio will or will not be there. And my code should not to be visible to the users using that exe or running that project.
How can I achieve it?!
you can't make a exe for web application but you can do one thing to solve your problem
1)make a window project in this project make a code for run iis and open browser with your web application url and make your window application form hide
2) now make exe of your window application project
You cannot create an executable file in asp.net.
All you can do is create a website using visual studio. once done, publish your website. Deploy it to IIS or host it to a paid web hosting company so you can have your domain. Once done, other users can see your beautiful and elegant website.
You don't create exe of a web application. It is hosted on IIS. So first of all you have to publish your website and then you can host it. For more information you can refer to this one:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/20yh9f1b%28v=vs.100%29.aspx Or google for more articles.
Posting to an old thread, but I came across this situation and found the solution.
Following footsteps of Spring Boot and other containerized solutions, I believe now Microsoft also has added this feature.
My scenario: Created a basic REST based Web application and built it.
This created Debug and Release folder within \bin within the root directory of Web application.
It also creates an exe file.
You just need the necessary runtime dependencies (like .NetCore 3.1 etc in my case) to run this exe.
I copied the entire Web application folder to a Windows Server 2016. There were some issues initially, however later when I added the required dependencies (dotnet folder which was present in my earlier machine), it worked like a charm.

I have a wpf desktop application (ERP) system
Application is using setup and deployment to create the .exe file
Now, i want to create a window service for my application to do some background check ups , synchronizations with my database etc.
I know how to create a service in.net and how manually to install it following the examples online.
My question is how i can install (or include let's say) this service within my .exe setup.
I don't want the user to be responsible to install the service.
Neither me to login every time someone pc to install the service
Not sure if i misunderstood the purpose of service but i found nothing online related to my question.
You can use Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Projects and include your service/main project at the same time

After successfully following this introduction to Web API 2 (although unable to "run" by pressing f5) I am really confused as to what is built and what is run when you create a WebAPI2 project. The only way I was able to test if it was working was by right clicking the project and clicking View -> View in Browser. I can't seem to find any .exe in the build folder (the app does build fine) to run.
What exactly is built and what is required to run a WebAPI2 projecT?
Your only output in a web project are a bunch of DLL's and maybe some static files that you could be using in your project (see this link about ASP.NET Web Project Folder Structure) . You don't have a .exe or an executable file in this case. Your built app requires a web server in order to execute, and when you are developing a project you have some options. Check this link about Web Servers in Visual Studio.
In order to run your project pressing F5, check if your ASP.NET Web Api project is configured as startup project. Check this link about how to configure it.
If you are still having any issue trying to run your web application in Visual Studio, please provide us with more information about your problem or errors, so we can provide you a better answer.
I've recently been working with ASP.NET again and decided to create a small ASP.NET project in a subfolder on one of my websites. I'm using Visual Studio 2013 and created the project using the ASP.NET Web Forms Application template. After creating the project, I left everything at the default, verified that it would build locally, published it to a folder on my system and then copied the published files via FTP to the subfolder on my site. When I tried to bring it up in my browser, it failed with the code ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. This told me that the host was seeing something there, otherwise it would have gone to my site's main 404 page. Chrome also refused to load the other pages within the deployed template. I did set the folder as an application in IIS after getting another error about forms authentication but that didn't have any effect.
I was able to successfully re-deploy an old ASP.NET site created with .NET 4.0 in VS2010. I was also able to deploy and load a project created in VS2013 / ASP.NET 4.5.1 with the ASP.NET Empty Web Application template.
I finally finally get the Web Forms template to work by doing the following -
Created a basic Default.aspx page with no master page.
Created a basic web.config file (copied from another new empty
project)
Commented out the following lines in the Application_Start function of Global.asax
BundleConfig.RegisterBundles(BundleTable.Bundles);
AuthConfig.RegisterOpenAuth();
RouteConfig.RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes);
At that point, the project ran on the host with no problem. I then restored the Default.aspx and Web.config files and the project again failed, even with the Global.asax lines still commented.
I also changed the SessionState mode to "Custom" as suggested in the web.config file and this made no difference.
My question at this point is this - Has anyone else deployed a .NET 4.5.1 Web Forms app designed from the VS2013 template to a shared hosting service and is there something that you have to do to get it to work?
I'm fairly satisfied at this point that I can use the empty web application template and build things from scratch but I'd like to know if anyone else has run into this and what they did.
Thanks.
ERR_CONNECTION_RESET sounds to me like you were having some kind of Internet connectivity troubles, or your server was having some sort of Internet connectivity trouble. If it's working fine now, probably nothing to worry about.
Has anyone else deployed a .NET 4.5.1 Web Forms app designed from the VS2013 template to a shared hosting service and is there something that you have to do to get it to work? Yes, lots of people have done that.
I developed a site in asp.net using C# as the language.
I have debugged it and no more errors can be found and can also view the page from a browser.
I would like to host this site and direct a client to it for demo purposes but am having a problem each time I publish my site. The publishing only does away with all my .aspx.cs files but I don't see any .exe file that I can install or send to my hosting provider.
I would like to know if this what I am experiencing is normal or there are settings I need to do in my visual studio 2013 ultimate edition for these tasks to be performed?
Kindly advise me on the way forward
ASP.NET applications (not "ASP.NET websites") are compiled into a .dll file in your bin folder, which is then deployed on to the server.
Your .aspx/.cshtml1 files reference compiled classes and types contained within this DLL, thus eliminating the need for source files.
There won't be any .exe files, you need to deploy your project to a web server, like IIS. Check out this link.
I created a web service in C#, using Visual Studio 2010 ( Framework .NET 3.5). In debug mode it works great, but now I must publish it on the internet, so that I can consume it in remote (the app that will consume the web service is an android app).
So the question is: how do I publish my web service on Internet so that I can consume it in remote?
Thanks in advance; this is a work for taking my degree!
A simple way: you switch to release mode, update your web.config for production, right click on your service project and from the menu select publish. Then you publish it to the local folder. This way it copies only the files needed. Then you copy the contents of the folder to your remote site using ftp, for example, your hosting provider should have given you the credentials.
for some hosters it is also possible to publish directly but I don't use this.
