Change Item value inside a ListBox - c#

I have the following ListBox, in a Windows Store App project
<ListBox x:Name="ContractIndicators" Grid.Row="2" ItemsSource="{Binding Indicators, ElementName=pageRoot}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedIndicator, ElementName=pageRoot, Mode=TwoWay}"
ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ItemStyle}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource ItemTemplate}" />
That uses this style
<Style x:Key="ItemStyle" TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Setter Property="Height" Value="60" />
<Setter Property="Width" Value="60" />
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Grid Background="{TemplateBinding Background}">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="SelectionStates" >
<VisualState x:Name="Unselected" />
<VisualState x:Name="Selected">
<Storyboard>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="fillColor" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Rectangle.Fill).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0" To="{StaticResource AccentColor}" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="SelectedUnfocused">
<Storyboard>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="fillColor" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Rectangle.Fill).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0" To="{StaticResource AccentColor}" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="SelectedPressed">
<Storyboard>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="fillColor" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Rectangle.Fill).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0" To="{StaticResource AccentColor}" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="SelectedPointerOver">
<Storyboard>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="fillColor" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Rectangle.Fill).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0" To="{StaticResource AccentColor}" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<Rectangle x:Name="fillColor" IsHitTestVisible="False" Fill="Transparent" Margin="5"
Width="{Binding Width, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}"
Height="{Binding Height, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}" />
<ContentPresenter Content="{Binding}" />
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
The ListBox has a biding to
private ObservableCollection<object> indicators = new ObservableCollection<object>();
and this is the type of items the collection contains
public class Indicator
{
public string Image { get; set; }
public Indicator(string image)
{
Image = image;
}
}
what i want is to change the Image field inside the selected item in the ListBox
how can i get this done?
This is what my ListBox Shows, what i want is to have that Green icon, depending on what item is selected
if i clicked item 4 , that item would pass to Green color
wich would mean that the Image field in my Indicator Object that is inside the ListBox at that Index would be updated

How to create vertical menu styling treeview control

I am new to WPF and am struggling to put the pieces of information together. I am trying to create a two level vertical menu like the one here. I have achieved my desired look by overriding the control template of tree view items.
Here is my code.
<BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="BooleanToVisibility" />
<Style x:Key="MenuText" TargetType="TextBlock" BasedOn="{StaticResource BaseTextBlockStyle}">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#FFA7B1C2"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalAlignment" Value="Center"/>

<TreeViewItem Tag="" Header="Customers" Template="{StaticResource MenuItemNormal}" />
<TreeViewItem Tag="" Header="Setup" Template="{StaticResource MenuItemNormal}" />
</TreeView>
The problem is that now I realize I should have probably overridden the data
template of the tree view item because I want to bind the tree view to a property on my view model. I cannot figure out if I use data template how do I remove the default ugly expander icon that comes with tree view items
Specifically I have 3 questions
Is overriding control template the right way to achieve what I am
trying to do?
How do I bind my tree view to a view model property
instead of hard coding the items?
How do I track the selected item in my view model?
Thank you in advance!

How to set style triggers to a Path binding parent state on UWP XAML

I'm developing a UWP app using c# and XAML; In the project I have a Resouce dictionary where several Path icons are, I want this icons to change the color when the parent control has the Pointer Over, I did make this on WPF app with Style data triggers:
<Style.Triggers>
<DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsPressed, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Button}, Mode=FindAncestor}}" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Fill" Value="White"/>
</DataTrigger>
</Style.Triggers>
But in UWP I know this works diferent but I can't figure it out I firstly tried creating a Path Style:
<Style TargetType="Path">
<Setter Property="VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups">
<Setter.Value>
<VisualStateGroup>
<VisualState x:Name="PointerOver">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Fill" Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="#F2B71E"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<PointerUpThemeAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
I know this is not correct because it need's to bind the parent state not this actual state, but not just that, this give me the error:
The property "VisualStateGroups" does not have an accessible setter.
So I opted for setting it up inside the path this way:
<Path x:Key="printIcon" Width="44" Height="43" Canvas.Left="16" Canvas.Top="17" Stretch="Fill" Data="F1 M 25,27L 25,17L 51,17L 51,27L 47,27L 47,21L 29,21L 29,27L 25,27 Z M 16,28L 60,28L 60,51L 51,51L 51,60L 25,60L 25,51L 16,51L 16,28 Z M 55,46L 55,33L 21,33L 21,46L 55,46 Z M 25,44L 25,39L 51,39L 51,44L 25,44 Z ">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup>
<VisualState x:Name="PointerOver">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Fill" Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="#F2B71E"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<PointerUpThemeAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
</Path>
But now I'm dealing with
The name "PointerOver" is already defined in this scope.
And this don't fix the binding with the parent state
So I think I'm lost, how can I achieve changing the fill color or the path by the state of the parent?
You could do something like this...
"path" is stored as a string resource for reuse, then use the visual states of the UI control that already exist.
<Page.Resources>
<x:String x:Key="Icon_Printer">F1 M 25,27L 25,17L 51,17L 51,27L 47,27L 47,21L 29,21L 29,27L 25,27 Z M 16,28L 60,28L 60,51L 51,51L 51,60L 25,60L 25,51L 16,51L 16,28 Z M 55,46L 55,33L 21,33L 21,46L 55,46 Z M 25,44L 25,39L 51,39L 51,44L 25,44 Z</x:String>
<Color x:Key="Color_Base">#FFF2B71E</Color>
<Color x:Key="Color_Hover">#FFFFFFFF</Color>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="Brush_Base" Color="{StaticResource Color_Base}" />
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="Brush_Hover" Color="{StaticResource Color_Hover}" />
<Style x:Key="PrinterButtonStyle" TargetType="Button" >
<Setter Property="Template">

How to add GroupName to ControlTemplate for RadioButton

I have a Style defined for a RadioButton which includes a ControlTemplate made up of BulletDecorator, VisualStateManager and Triggers. I currently have my GroupName defined on the RadioButton in the XAML code.
The selection of a radio button when running the code is not mutually exclusive.
I have read other posts saying that the problem is a second RadioButton defined in the ControlTemplate. I do not have a second RadioButton defined.
Here is a picture of buttons selected which should be mutually exclusive:
Here is my style:
<Style x:Key="RadioButtonStyle" TargetType="RadioButton">
<Setter Property="SnapsToDevicePixels" Value="true"/>
<Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="true"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/>
<Setter Property="Height" Value="15"/>
<Setter Property="Margin" Value="5"/>
<Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{x:Null}"/>
<Setter Property="Template">

Here is the XAML:
<RadioButton Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Content="Normal" Foreground="WhiteSmoke" Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle}" GroupName="gpHeadingMode" Margin="0,0,0,0"/>
<RadioButton Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" Content="Weather Vane" Foreground="WhiteSmoke" Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle}" GroupName="gpHeadingMode" Margin="0,0,0,0"/>
Tried this as a work around (in XAML):
<RadioButton Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" x:Name="Normal" Content="Normal" Foreground="WhiteSmoke" GroupName="gpHeadingMode1"
Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle}"
IsChecked="{Binding HeadingModeChecked, ElementName=HeadingDialog, Converter={StaticResource RbCheckedConverter}, ConverterParameter=Normal, FallbackValue=False}"
Click="RbHeadingMode_Click"/>
<RadioButton Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" x:Name="WeatherVane" Content="Weather Vane" Foreground="WhiteSmoke" GroupName="gpHeadingMode2"
Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle}"
IsChecked="{Binding HeadingModeChecked, ElementName=HeadingDialog, Converter={StaticResource RbCheckedConverter}, ConverterParameter=WeatherVane, FallbackValue=False}"
Click="RbHeadingMode_Click"/>
In RbHeadingMode_Click, the dependency object HeadingModeChecked is set with the value of RadioButton.Name. If I remove the "Style" the converter fires and does the job of toggling the IsClicked value.
Unfortunately, with the Style, the converter does not fire.
Now the question becomes, how can I bind the IsChecked property in XAML to the Style?
Note: Actually, the converter does fire with Style specified but the change to IsChecked in XAML has no effect on the RadioButton.
Had to remove the following code from the Style and it works:
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CheckStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Checked">
<Storyboard>
<DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="CheckMark" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" To="1" Duration="0:0:0.3"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="UnChecked">
<Storyboard>
<DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="CheckMark" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" To="0" Duration="0:0:0.3"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Indeterminate">
<Storyboard>
<DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="CheckMark" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" To="1" Duration="0:0:0.3"/>
<ColorAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="CheckMain" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Ellipse.Fill).(SolidColorBrush.Color)" To="Gray" Duration="0:0:0.3"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
Note: Not only does the converter work on the IsChecked property but now I can remove that converter and just use Groupname to achieve mutual exclusion on the radiobuttons!

ExtendedVisualStateManager.GoToElementState returns false in Silverlight

I have a custom control whose Animation I want to control. I attempt to update this using VisualStateManager.GoToState but it always returns false in Silverlight and the animation never starts. This works perfectly in WPF though with the same XAML.
The Silverlight code
//to start
retval = ExtendedVisualStateManager.GoToElementState(this.canvasParent, "WorkingState", true);
The WPF code
retval = VisualStateManager.GoToElementState(this.canvasParent, "WorkingState", true);
XAML (common):
<Style TargetType="local:WaitSpinner">
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="local:WaitSpinner">
<Viewbox Visibility="{TemplateBinding Visibility}">
<Canvas RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" x:Name="CanvasParent" Width="120" Height="120">
<!-- other awesomeness -->
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="Working">
<VisualState x:Name="WorkingState">
<Storyboard>
<DoubleAnimation
Storyboard.TargetName="SpinnerRotate"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Angle"
From="0" To="360" Duration="0:0:01.3"

</Storyboard>

<VisualState x:Name="Stop"/>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
</Canvas>
</Viewbox>

C# Silverlight - Zoom into Horizontal Listbox Image Items

I have the following listbox below which binds to a database table of image URL's. When the application is running, it is possible to click on each individual image, and witness a light blue selection box appear on the image (you can tell when each individual image is selected as its clicked). What I would like to be able to do is perform a zoom upon clicking each image. Does anyone know of a way in which I could do this by amending the code I am currently using below!? (The reason for this is that I need to display the images in a horizontal listbox, which is what this code does.)
<ListBox x:Name="list1" HorizontalAlignment="Left" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" Width="400" d:LayoutOverrides="HorizontalAlignment">
<ListBox.ItemsPanel>
<ItemsPanelTemplate>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"/>
</ItemsPanelTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemsPanel>
<ListBox.ItemTemplate>
<DataTemplate >
<Image Width="100" Height="100" Stretch="Fill" Source="{Binding LowResUrl}"/>
</DataTemplate>
</ListBox.ItemTemplate>
</ListBox>
You can use this snippet you are currently using ItemTemplate there is one more template GeneratedItemContainer(ItemContainerStyle)
<Style x:Key="ListBoxItemStyleContainerWide" TargetType="ListBoxItem">

You can access the ListBoxItem control's visualStateManager by overriding the ControlTemplate. In Expression Blend select a ListBoxItem and "Edit a copy" of the Template. This will copy the old ListBoxItem control's style and control template to givey ou a nice starting place to modify what happens on key events that this ListBox control is setup to handle.
After doing this you can apply animations within the visual state manager on a wide variety of events (Hover, Selection, disabled, etc).
If you are data binding your ItemsSource property and don't have literal ListBoxItems to generate a ListBoxItem Style to start from, just create a new ListBox and add a ListBoxItem to it to generate the Style+ControlTemplate from. Once you generate the style, you can change your nice data bound ListBox Item's control template by specifying the newly created resource on your data bound ListBox control's ItemContainerStyle property.
