I am using the new async await features to upgrade from backgroundworker in C#. In the following code I am trying to replicate the execution of multiple tasks with ContinueWith method.

My question is when I comment t1.wait and t2.wait Tasks are not blocking UI. However when I uncomment t1.wait and t2.wait UI blocks until thread is completed. The desired behavior is to catch errors in try/catch block without blocking UI. What Am I missing?
If this is running within a UI event handler, you can add the async modifer to the method signature and change t1.Wait() to await t1. This will return control to the UI thread, and when the Thread.Sleep has completed, the continuation will execute and any exceptions will be caught.
When you use Task.Wait(), you are basically saying "wait here my task to complete". That's why you are blocking the thread. A good way to handle exception in tasks is using the Task.ContinueWith overload and pass OnlyOnFaulted as TaskContinuationOption which would look like:

If you're going to use the Task-based Asynchronous Pattern, then you should use the recommended guidelines. I have an MSDN article describing many of them.
In particular:
Use Task.Run instead of the Task constructor with Task.Start.
Use await instead of ContinueWith.
Do not use AttachedToParent.
If you apply these changes, your code will then look like this:

I've created a method (DoAsync) that does some asynchronous work and can be cancelled at any time.
As you can see Task.Run gets a cancellation token. For this reason I created continuation task with continuationOptions = TaskContinuationOptions.OnlyOnCanceled.
As a result I expected continuation task to be called only when cancellation is requested and in other cases - ignored.
But in my implementation task returned by ContinueWith throws an exception when its antecedent task is not being cancelled:
DoAsync started
DoAsync Run
Inside try-catch block
System.AggregateException...
A task was canceled.
I can fix this by adding another ContinueWith as in the example below:

But can I handle the cancellation using single ContinueWith properly?
The remarks for ContinueWith specifically state:
If the continuation criteria specified through the continuationOptions parameter are not met, the continuation task will be canceled instead of scheduled.
Since the criteria you specified for the antecedent weren't met, (namely, it wasn't cancelled) the continuation was set to be cancelled. You awaited the cancelled task, which therefore result in DoAsync faulting with an operation cancelled exception.
I do not know how I should properly propagate an exception from a Task to the thread that created this task:

The easiest way for you to propagate an exception from a Task executed on the thread-pool is to turn it to actually return a Task which you can await on:

await will make sure to unwrap the exception out of the Task, allowing you to apply a try-catch on it.
Side Note - Don't use the Task constructor, instead use Task.Run to return a "hot task" (one which has already started). There's no point in creating a Task which you're actively blocking on using Thread.Sleep later on, either execute it synchronously or use async-await to asynchronously wait on the task.

What is the problem?
Your Task.Run call creates the task and then returns immediately. It doesn't ever throw. But the task it creates may fail or be canceled later on.
You have several solutions here:
Use await:
await Task.Run(...)
Attach a continuation depending on the failure/cancellation case:
var task = Task.Run(...);
task.ContinueWith(t => ..., TaskContinuationOptions.OnlyOnCanceled);
task.ContinueWith(t => ..., TaskContinuationOptions.OnlyOnFaulted);
Attach a single continuation on failure:
Task.Run(...).ContinueWith(t => ..., TaskContinuationOptions.NotOnRanToCompletion);
The solution you can/should use depends on the surrounding code.
You need to new the token

Cancellation in Managed Threads
If a parallel Task throws an exception it'll return execution and will have it's Exception property (as an AggregateException, you should check for its InnerException) set (and either its IsCanceled or IsFaulted property set to true). Some minimal sample code from a project of mine which escalates the exception to the main thread:

If you use a CancellationTokenSource it should be easy to enhance this to check for IsCanceled (instead of IsFaulted)
You can also use Task.Wait() instead of the while loop... in my project and in that precise case it seemed more appropiate to use the while loop, but you need to wait for the Task to end in one way or another.
If you use Task.Run() you can use a .ContinueWith(Task) which will have the original task passed in (where you can check for IsFaulted or IsCanceled), or have it run only on faulted execution, at your will.
I want to make Task.WaitAll() to break out if any of the running tasks throws an exception, so that I don't have to wait for 60 seconds to finish. How do I achieve such behavior? If WaitAll() cannot achieve that, is there any other c# feature or workaround?

Note it only tracks faulted tasks (those which threw). If you need to track cancelled tasks as well, make this change:

Updated, waiting on the task proxies is redundant here, as pointed out by #svick in the comments. He proposes an improved version: https://gist.github.com/svick/9992598.
One way of doing that is to use CancellationTokenSource. You create cancellationtokensource, and pass it as an argument to Task.WaitAll. The idea is to wrap your task in try/catch block, and in case of exception, call cancel on cancellationtokensource.

Parallel class can do the job for you. You can use Parallel.For, ForEach or Invoke.

If one of these tasks throws an exception then no other task will be executed excepting those whose execution was already started. For, ForEach and Invoke are waiting for all tasks to complete before to resume control to the calling code. You can have even a finer grain control if you use ParallelLoopState.IsExceptional. Parallel.Invoke is more suited for your case.
I wanted to suggest a slight modification to Noseratio's excellent answer above. In my case I needed to preserve the original exception thrown, and in a surrounding try/catch distinguish between cancelled and exception states.

Is it possible to catch when any Task terminates due exception and log? I've added CurrentDomain_UnhandledException handling but this doesn't help.
I create tasks using Task.Factory.StartNew() as usual. When somewhere inside such task exception occurs it crashes silently (but it supposed to work forever, i'm also using LongRunning option). So I want to be notified about such behavior.
Ideallly I want to set some option somewhere to be notified when any Task crashes due exception.
If it is not possible then likely I should add something to each Task I create? Of course I can just add big try{} finally{} block inside each Task, but probably there are better solutions?

For tasks that you create yourself, it's reasonably simple: create your own methods which call Task.Factory.StartNew(), but then also call Task.ContinueWith(loggingDelegate, TaskContinuationOptions.OnlyOnFaulted before returning the task.
The problem is that that won't add a fault handler for tasks created by other bits of infrastructure - including by async methods in C# 5. It still might be useful to you though.
You can also use TaskScheduler.UnobservedTaskException, but as per the name that will only be called for exceptions which aren't already observed by something else. (Again, that may be fine for you...)
You can use an extension method that performs an operation when an exception has ocurred.
This happens when the Task gets Faulted. So if it has another tasks to continue with, the next one can check if the previous task was faulted and Log the exception.
I usually use this methods:

You can create a OnlyOnFaulted continuation on your Task which observes the exception and logs/reports the problem.

The above code will run the task on the UI thread because of TaskScheduler.FromCurrentSynchronizationContext(). This may be necessary if you are using winforms and need to notify the user.
