xamarin studio for ios on windows? - c#

Yesterday at the xamarin webinar I asked if it was possible to install xamarin studio for IOS development on a windows machine and was given the answer that it was possible but developers usually went for visual studio. Today I've tried to find info about how to do this but can only find posts that it can only be done via Visual Studio. Most of the posts are a couple of months old though so which is the correct answer?

Unfortunately, I think your fears are true. Another post talks a little about this:
How to develop iOS app using Xamarin Studio on Windows?
The official Xamarin documentation also says pretty clearly that you need Visual Studio to do iOS development in Windows. On top of that, you also need a Mac on the network to compile the iOS project.

Using Mac build Host you can do but you'll need the networked mac
for developing and debugging too.
or else you can use Xamarin Live Player using which you can
debug, develop and deploy the app completely in windows without the
help of any Apple system but to sign and release the app to appstore
you will need Apple System though

You can access Xamarin Studio from a Windows machine by accessing a remote Mac from services such as MacinCloud.com. Although you are not running Xamarin Studio directly on your Windows machine, the ability to access a Mac server for development allows you to run Xamarin Studio, and other Mac-only tools easily.

Develop applications for Windows Compact

I have an Windows Embedded Compact v8.00 device installed with build 6247. FYI - This device is an Siemens HMI.
Now I'm looking for the right way to develop applications for this version of Windows. I started trying with Visual Studio 2008, so I build a very simple application with just a useless textbox. After copying the executable to the device I start tried to run the test applications but nothing happens.
After searching the web I found out it's better to install Visual Studio 2015 PRO with an application builder from Microsoft's website.
Is this the right way to do? What else does I need to know when developing applications for Windows Compact 2013?
To create applications for Windows Embedded Compact 2013 you need VS2013 or VS2015 professional with the Application Builder plugin and a valid SDK installed on your PC.
If you develop managed apps you also need to check in the .NET runtime is already part of the image or find a way to deploy and install it permanently on your device (the way to do this may change depending on the device configuration, registry type etc.)

Xamarin + Visual Studio donĀ“t recognize iPhone 6 S

I have to develop a demo app using Xamarin + Visual Studio Community 2015.
I am completely new with this technology.
I have connected using USB one iPhone 6S to my Windows 10.
My problem is that Visual Studio does not recognize iPhone device.
Can you help me? Perhaps this device is not suitable for this development?
Thanks in advance.
You are going wrong. In order to test your IOS app on any physical device, you need a mac machine which will be remotely connected. Before deploying your application to a device, you need to have an active subscription to Apple's Developer Program or use Free Provisioning. Go through this link for better understanding. In case if you want to test your IOS app you can have IOS simulator for windows. For installation details click here.
You can not deploy your app on ios app from windows machine connecting via USB cable.

How can I create an Accessory app using Visual Studio?

I've recently discovered that an "Accessory apps" section exists within the phone's settings, and I'd be interested in trying to create a Windows Phone version of the accessory's official app that's only available for Android devices.
My question is, what are the steps to develop such apps using Visual Studio? I've been looking for a template, but haven't found any so far.
As of today, unless you are an OEM who is granted special privilege by Microsoft, you cannot create an accessory app. Although the classes in Windows.Phone.Notification.Management are visible in Visual Studio, attempting to use any of them will result in an UnauthorizedAccessException.

Is it possible to develop iOS App on windows using (Xamarin and visual studio) without MAC

I have already developed android app using xamarin and now i want to do same for iOS. As per xamarin's official documentation, i need to have MAC machine to compile my C# code, but i dont have MAC. Is there any workaround or alternative so that i can build ios app using xamarin without need of MAC.
No. The underlying SDK and build tools, including the iOS simulator, are provided by Apple and will only run on OSX.
You can use Cloud Mac service Macincloud which supports Xamarin remote build from Visual Studio. You will not be able to build iOS Apps without a Mac so Macincloud is your best alternative.
As standard Xcode only runs on UNIX/OSX.
However it IS possible to run Mac OSX, in order to develop iOS apps, with software such as VMWare and Parallels - But I won't recommend it in any way.

How to develop cross platform mobile application using Visual Studio

May be this is a question when a programmer/developer thinks to start mobile application development. But he is habitual of a particular environment in which he is working from several years. So it would be more comfortable that he can develop mobile app in the same environment what he is using from years.
I am currently working in Asp.Net MVC with C#, Visual Studio 2013 and i like it most. I am working on a large MIS and want to make available my solution to all platforms. As we know mobile devices are the most powerful technology current days.
Please suggest some way that i can work in visual studio and can develop cross platform mobile application that can work on Android, MAC, Windows Mobile and Windows PC/Laptops
I know there is many tools are available, but i need an expert suggestion on this particular scenario. If you provide a solution then please describe how to enable it in visual studio or how to customize current solution for that.
To have .net apps running on mobile platforms other than microsoft, have a look at xamarin
This is the front office for the mono framework
I know it's probably old question but you can try Apache Cordova with Visual Studio.
