I have the following problem, but I can't reproduce the solution because I can't find Build Action property in my resource properties.
Why? Where is that?

ASP.NET web sites do not build.
This is one of the best reasons not to use web sites. Most examples will assume web applications. Use web application projects instead of web sites.

This might be too much to ask. (Why on earth would I want to depart from IIS after all?)
What I'm looking for is a pretty good embeddable HTTP server. I've looked around, and I'm not yet sold on Kayak. But I haven't found many others.
Can anyone recommend a reliable, embeddable HTTP Server written in C#? Preferably one that implements the Python WSGI spec, that would be awesome.

I presume that it is something like MVC4 + LINQ (or maybe NHibernate?)
I'm taking a dive into the .NET world (again) and would like to go with the best. Any tips and opinions?
There isn't an exact equivalent. You could use a combination of ASP.NET MVC + Entity Framework (NHibernate) if you want.

I was wondering whether a wcf service would be allowed to be hosted on http://Bigrock.in or http://bigrock.com windhows shared hosting or with godaddy's shared windows hosting.
Anyone have any experience with the above and also what are possible the limitation's on these hosts ?
If it isn't allowed there, can someone suggest some hosting plans where I can host wcf service? (for normal usage, nothing heavy)
Yes it is allowed at Bigrock. Send us an email on sales[at]bigrock[dot]com and we will help you with any details you need.

I'm looking for lightweight framework to build my custom website. Originally I'd love to get a platform that implements user registration, login, logout and probably account management at some point.
The thing is I don't want to have any "extras" there and I don't want to develop sign-up/login part again...
What options do I have? I was looking at mojoPortal, but there's a lot of restrictions and features I'll never use.
Any suggestions?
PS.
.net 2.0/3.5
asp.net mvc out of the box has the membership provider built in that allows sign up and login.
if you also need a bit of CMS like stuff, maybe try Actya

Does anyone know the best opensource for .NET controls?
With Dev Express, Telerik, they so cool, but they are commercial version.
You can already find quite a lot of interesting stuff on Codeplex. And of course there's no stopping yourself to create your own custom controls for your application. Take a look at these tutorials: Developing Custom ASP.NET Server Controls..
How about Mono’s re-implementation of Windows Forms?
