Windows phone 8 Button style - c#

I want to create a new style to my Buttons with Blend:
<Style x:Key="ButtonStyle1" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilySemiBold}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMedium}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="10,5,10,6"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Button">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneButtonBasePressedForegroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<ImageBrush ImageSource="favouritesBWIcon#2x.png" Stretch="Uniform"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{x:Null}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{x:Null}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="FocusStates"/>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" CornerRadius="0" Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}">
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Border>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
As you can see <VisualState x:Name="Pressed"> i want that the brush background will be the original image with a little opacity, that it will be to all the buttons that i want.

Only change your VisualState "Pressed":
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="0.4"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>

How to using XAML to access named control in template

I want to access named control in a template.
Like deep custom RadioButton, and add a TextBlock which name "tb_text"
Can I use XAML for this RadioButton to change tb_text.text?
Most of the articles I found are about code-behind not XAML.
Example:
<RadioButton Height="81" Width="617" Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle1}">
<RadioButton.tb_text>
[SOMETEXT WORD]
</RadioButton.tb_text>
</RadioButton>
Style:
<Style x:Key="RadioButtonStyle1" TargetType="RadioButton">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlForegroundBaseHighBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="8,6,0,0"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Left"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Left"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Top"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{ThemeResource ContentControlThemeFontFamily}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{ThemeResource ControlContentThemeFontSize}"/>
<Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="120"/>
<Setter Property="UseSystemFocusVisuals" Value="True"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="RadioButton">
<Grid Name="gv1" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="PointerOver">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Stroke" Storyboard.TargetName="OuterEllipse">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlHighlightBaseHighBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Stroke" Storyboard.TargetName="CheckOuterEllipse">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlHighlightAccentBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Fill" Storyboard.TargetName="CheckOuterEllipse">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlHighlightTransparentBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Fill" Storyboard.TargetName="CheckGlyph">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlHighlightAltBaseHighBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CheckStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Checked">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="gv1">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<ImageBrush Stretch="Fill" ImageSource="Assets/img/btn_blue_fill.png"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Unchecked">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="gv1">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<ImageBrush Stretch="Fill" ImageSource="Assets/img/btn_blue_line.png"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Indeterminate"/>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<TextBlock Name="tb_text" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="24" Foreground="#00BBD5" Text="text"/>
<ContentPresenter x:Name="ContentPresenter" AutomationProperties.AccessibilityView="Raw" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" ContentTransitions="{TemplateBinding ContentTransitions}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Grid.Column="0" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" TextWrapping="Wrap" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
I need using XAML assign value to tb_text which inside the template, not c#.
How to do it in UWP:
First you need to create class with attached property:
public class Class1
{
public static readonly DependencyProperty tbtextProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached(
"tbtext", typeof(String), typeof(Class1), new PropertyMetadata(string.Empty));
public static void Settbtext(UIElement element, String value)
{
element.SetValue(tbtextProperty, value);
}
public static String Gettbtext(UIElement element)
{
return (String)element.GetValue(tbtextProperty);
}
}
And after it you should add to setters in your style:
<Setter Property="local:Class1.tbtext" Value="some text"></Setter>
Now edit your TextBlock inside template:
<TextBlock x:Name="tb_text" Grid.Column="1" Text="{TemplateBinding local:Class1.tbtext}"></TextBlock>
Here it is. Now you can use:
<RadioButton Height="81" Width="617" Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle1}">
<local:Class1.tbtext>
SOMETEXT WORD
</local:Class1.tbtext>
</RadioButton>

VisualStateManager in Windows Phone 8

I'm trying to change the appearance of the button when the mouse pointer over it using VisualStateManager. But it does not work. Help, please!
XAML
<Button x:Name="button" Background="AntiqueWhite" Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" MouseEnter="button_MouseEnter" MouseLeave="button_MouseLeave">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="ColorState">
<VisualState x:Name="MouseEnter">
<Storyboard Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background">
<ColorAnimation To="Aquamarine" Duration="0:1:30"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseLeave"/>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
</Button>
ะก#
private void button_MouseEnter(object sender, System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs e)
{
bool bol = VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, MouseEnter.Name, true);
}
private void button_MouseLeave(object sender, System.Windows.Input.MouseEventArgs e)
{
bool bol = VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, MouseLeave.Name, true);
}
Your VistualStateManager is not correct. As far as I know there is no "MouseEnter" but there is a MouseOver
Here's the complete ControlTemplate for a <Button>. I comment out the default behavior for the MouseOver State and coded in your Color Change Animation. All you have to do is set any Button's Style to this "Chubs_ButtonStyle" and it will highlight to Aquamarine. Hopes this helps.
<phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
<Style x:Key="Chubs_ButtonStyle" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilySemiBold}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMedium}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="10,5,10,6"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Button">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal">

</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver">

</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Transparent"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" CornerRadius="0" Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}">
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Border>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
</phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
Apply the style to a button like so
<Button x:Name="button" Background="AntiqueWhite" Grid.Column="0" Width="100" Height="100" Style="{StaticResource Chubs_ButtonStyle}"/>

Transparent textbox when textbox GotFocussed Windows Phone 8.1?

I need to have transparent textbox, in my WindowsPhone 8.1 Runtime application.
I made Background="Transparent" to the textbox, so it is transparent when it is loaded.
But on focus, background color changed to white. I write the following code, to make it transparent. But it doesn't run.!
<TextBox Background="Transparent" GotFocus="titleBox_GotFocus" />
C#
private void titleBox_GotFocus(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
titleBox.Background = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Transparent);
}
The problem is that when you the TextBox gets focused, the StoryBoard is changing the Background to ThemeResource - the TExtBox by default is designed to do that. Of course you can change it - as you are targetting WP8.1 Runtime, you will have to play with VisualStaes of your TextBox. To say more, you will have to change Focused state:
<VisualState x:Name="Focused">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="BorderElement">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource TextSelectionHighlightColorThemeBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<DoubleAnimation Duration="0" To="0" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" Storyboard.TargetName="PlaceholderTextContentPresenter"/>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="BackgroundElement">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Transparent"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
In the code above, I've changed the third animation, so now it sets Transparent to Background.
The complete Style (taken from Blend) can look like this:
<Page.Resources>
<Style x:Key="TransparentStyle" TargetType="TextBox">
<Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="{ThemeResource TextControlThemeMinWidth}"/>
<Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="{ThemeResource TextControlThemeMinHeight}"/>

And you use it like this:
<TextBox Background="Transparent" GotFocus="titleBox_GotFocus" Style="{StaticResource TransparentStyle}"/>

Windows Phone 8 Button text animation - C# / XAML

I'm trying to animate the text inside a Button object so it would look like this Android boot text.
Does anyone know how or if it's even possible to do this on Windows Phone?
Thanks for your time.
I think this is the very solution you were searching for, I might be wrong but according to my studies and experience this is what I have made for you.
First of all edit a button control, in that I have created the story board and animated the content, then I used control story board action behavior to call that story board on Loaded trigger.
Here is the XAML of my edited Button including the story board I created.
<Style x:Key="animatedText" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilySemiBold}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMedium}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="10,5,10,6"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Button">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<Grid.Resources>
<Storyboard x:Name="Storyboard1" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Opacity)" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="0"/>
<EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.3" Value="1"/>
<EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:0.7" Value="0"/>
<EasingDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="0:0:1" Value="1"/>
</DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</Grid.Resources>
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneButtonBasePressedForegroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneAccentBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Transparent"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<i:Interaction.Triggers>
<i:EventTrigger>
<eim:ControlStoryboardAction Storyboard="{StaticResource Storyboard1}"/>
</i:EventTrigger>
</i:Interaction.Triggers>
<Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" CornerRadius="0" Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}">
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Border>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
Hope this is your solution.
Happy Coding!

ToggleButton does not fill the area(windows phone)

When I create ToggleButton it does not fill all area in grid. I think it's because the pressing area is more than viewable area of the button. How can I make these areas equal?
<Grid Grid.Column="0">
<ToggleButton x:Name="ToggleHorizontal"
IsChecked="False"/>
</Grid>
By default toggle button (not only but it too) has touch area around visible border with thickness of 12 px (PhoneTouchTargetOverhang constant, see MSDN). You can see this by editing the style of toggle button in the Blend.
So you can set value of margin in your XAML to -12:
<Grid Grid.Column="0">
<ToggleButton x:Name="ToggleHorizontal" Margin="-12"
IsChecked="False"/>
</Grid>
Or you can change this constant to 0 in toggle-button style.
Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}"
to
Margin="0"
Hope I correctly understood your question and my answer will be helpful
UPD: I think it's easier to set Margin value directly to your toggle button, but if you wish...
Add this to your resource section in page and don't forget to set style to your toggle button:
<phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
<Style x:Key="PhoneButtonBase" TargetType="ButtonBase">
