Automate fetching of group id in Yammer - c#

How do you get the group id in Yammer?
I am able to post a message in all of the company as well as to a specific group but i am not able to get the group id of a particular group using Yammer APIs
Find below the code for posting in a particular group where group_id is a string variable whose value I enter manually and want to automate this process.
private void Post(string address)
{
System.Uri targetUri = new System.Uri(https://www.yammer.com/api/v1/messages.json?body=HelloTest&group_id=[some_number]&access_token=" + token);
HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(targetUri);
request.Method = "POST";
request.BeginGetResponse(new AsyncCallback(ReadWebRequestCallback), request);
}
// STEP4 STEP4 STEP4
private void ReadWebRequestCallback(IAsyncResult callbackResult)
{
HttpWebRequest myRequest = (HttpWebRequest)callbackResult.AsyncState;
HttpWebResponse myResponse = (HttpWebResponse)myRequest.EndGetResponse(callbackResult);
string results;
using (StreamReader httpwebStreamReader = new StreamReader(myResponse.GetResponseStream()))
{
results = httpwebStreamReader.ReadToEnd();
//TextBlockResults.Text = results; //-- on another thread!
SkyDriveContent test = new SkyDriveContent();
test.Name = results;
str_results = results;
}
myResponse.Close();
}
I saw the documentation but did not find any way to get the list of groups a user is a part of?
Any help would be appreciated!

You should be able to get the list of groups that a user belongs to by making a GET request to https://www.yammer.com/api/v1/groups.json?mine=1. It looks like you are using HttpWebRequest for your client code. If you haven't done so I'd suggest checking out RestSharp as it'll cut down on the amount of code you have to write.

Xamarin.Android: How Can I Pass WebView Login Creds Into HttpWebRequest?

I am trying to pass login creds from a WebView into an HttpWebRequest but not having any luck getting an authenticated response. I am able to successfully make the request, but the response is acting like I haven't logged in. My app has 5 WebViews contained within Fragment s and I'm logged in on all of them. I've tried using the CookieSyncManager but it's deprecated and .Sync() didn't work. I've tried a lot of different ways of passing the cookies into the HttpRequest with no success and many hours spent.
One would think this is a simple request; user has logged in within the app; they should be authenticated for all requests. Here's the closest that I've gotten, but the response string is still not the same as through my authenticated WebView :
This attempt parses each Cookie into a string and adds it
public string _cookieString { get; set; }
private class ExtWebViewClient : WebViewClient
{
TheFragment5 _fm5 = new TheFragment5();
public override void OnPageFinished(WebView view, string url)
{
var cookieHeader = Android.Webkit.CookieManager.Instance.GetCookie(url);
var cookiePairs = cookieHeader.Split('&');
_fm5._cookieString = "";
foreach (var cookiePair in cookiePairs)
{
var cookiePieces = cookiePair.Split('=');
if (cookiePieces[0].Contains(":"))
cookiePieces[0] = cookiePieces[0].Substring(0, cookiePieces[0].IndexOf(":"));
cookies.Add(new Cookie
{
Name = cookiePieces[0],
Value = cookiePieces[1]
});
}
foreach (Cookie c in cookies)
{
if (_fm5._cookieString == "")
{
_fm5._cookieString = c.ToString();
}
else
{
_fm5._cookieString += c.ToString();
}
}
}
}
I've also tried just doing:
_fm5._cookieString = cookieHeader.ToString();
but neither of those attempts is working when I add the cookie string into my HttpRequest :
public async void GetNotificationText(string url)
{
//var _cmhc = _cookieMan.HasCookies;
await Task.Run(() =>
{
_notificationHttpRequestInProgress = true;
try
{
var _ctxxx = Android.App.Application.Context;
//URL _url2 = new URL("https://bitchute.com/notifications/");
//HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection)_url2.OpenConnection();
//conn.ReadTimeout = 10000 /* milliseconds */;
//conn.ConnectTimeout = 15000 /* milliseconds */;
////conn.SetRequestProperty("Cookie", cookies);
//conn.Connect();
HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
Uri uri = new Uri(url);
var _req = request;
var _uriii = uri;
var _cookiesss = _fm5._cookieString;
_cookieCon.SetCookies(uri, _cookiesss);
request.CookieContainer = _cookieCon;
//request.CookieContainer.SetCookies(uri, _cookiesss);
request.AutomaticDecompression = DecompressionMethods.GZip;
using (HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse())
using (Stream stream = response.GetResponseStream())
using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(stream))
{
_notificationRawText = reader.ReadToEnd();
Console.WriteLine(_notificationRawText);
_rawNoteText = _notificationRawText;
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
}
_notificationHttpRequestInProgress = false;
});
}
This returns, but not the authenticated webtext request; I get the same response any user would get on a browser having never logged in. If I were to browse out to this same url on any WebView in my app, I'd get a completely different response.
You will also notice some commented out code that was another failed attempt at adding the cookies into a connection. I had also tried using HttpURLConnection.SetRequestProperty("Cookie", cookies);
where cookies was a CookieCollection and that didn't work either. The code is mostly commented out and layered because I've been trying this for days.
Does anyone know how I can pass WebView cookies into an HttpRequest using Xamarin.Android?
I am putting this code below in Fragment5 of my app; you can see and compile the full context here:
https://github.com/hexag0d/BitChute_Mobile_Android_BottomNav/blob/NotificationAdder/Fragments/TheFragment5.cs
I'm not sure exactly why the above example didn't work; maybe if you're better at .NET than I am, you could figure it out. However, I was able to successfully pass WebView creds into an HttpClient by following these steps, which are returning an authenticated response. This may not be the most elegant way of doing it, but you can always refine my answer, or post a better one.
What I had to do was set the HttpClient.DefaultRequestHeaders using the .Add() method like this: _client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Add("Cookie", TheFragment5._cookieHeader);
I got the CookieHeader (which is just a string btw) like this:
//instantiate a string that will house our cookie header
public static string _cookieHeader;
//you might want to make it private to prevent abuse
//but this example is just for demonstration
//the thing is we need a string to house our headers in scope of both the WebView and the HttpClient
//extend the WebViewClient
private class ExtWebViewClient : WebViewClient
{
public override void OnPageFinished(WebView view, string url)
{
//I get the cookies when the page finishes loading because
//then we know the cookie has our login cred header
//also, most of the previous examples got the cookies OnPageFinished
TheFragment5._cookieHeader = Android.Webkit.CookieManager.Instance.GetCookie(url);
}
}
Then we need another method for the HttpClient and HttpClientHandler ... mine scans a webpage for notification text.
public async void GetNotificationText(string url)
{
await Task.Run(() =>
{
/* this line is pretty important,
we need to instantiate an HttpClientHandler
then set it's UseCookies property to false
so that it doesn't override our cookies
*/
HttpClientHandler handler = new HttpClientHandler() { UseCookies = false };
try
{
Uri _notificationURI = new Uri("https://bitchute.com/notifications/");
//instantiate HttpClient using the handler
using (HttpClient _client = new HttpClient(handler))
{
//this line is where the magic happens;
//we set the DefaultRequestHeaders with the cookieheader we got from WebViewClient.OnPageFinished
_client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Add("Cookie", TheFragment5._cookieHeader);
//do a GetAsync request with our cookied up client
var getRequest = _client.GetAsync("https://bitchute.com/notifications/").Result;
//resultContent is the authenticated html string response from the server, ready to be parsed =]
var resultContent = getRequest.Content.ReadAsStringAsync().Result;
/*
I was writing to console to check the
response.. for me, I am now getting
the authenticated notification html
page
*/
Console.WriteLine(resultContent);
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
}
}
}
Hope this helps you, posting for future reference, especially for people using Xamarin.Android.

Logging into Jenkins Programmatically in C#

I have jobs in Jenkins that i cannot access unless i log in first using a my username and password.
For example if i try to access "localhost:xxx/job/some_job_1" i will get a 404 Error unless i log in first. And i say this because i have tried the following using WebRequest class:
string formParams = "j_username=bobbyLee&j_password=SecretPassword25&from=%2F&json=%7B%22j_username%22%3A+%bobbyLee%22%2C+%22j_password%22%3A+%22SecretPassword%25%22%2C+%22remember_me%22%3A+false%2C+%22from%22%3A+%22%2F%22%7D&Submit=log+in";
// ***this is the exact string that is sent when i log in normally, obtained using Fiddler***
string formUrl = "http://serverName:PortNum/j_acegi_security_check";
// ***I have also tried http://serverName:PortNum/login***
string cookieHeader;
WebRequest req = WebRequest.Create(formUrl);
req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
req.Method = "POST";
byte[] bytes = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(formParams);
req.ContentLength = bytes.Length;
using (Stream os = req.GetRequestStream())
{
os.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length);
}
WebResponse resp = req.GetResponse();
cookieHeader = resp.Headers["Set-cookie"];
string pageSource;
string getUrl = "http://serverName:portNum/job/some_job/";
WebRequest getRequest = WebRequest.Create(getUrl);
getRequest.Headers.Add("Cookie", cookieHeader);
WebResponse getResponse = getRequest.GetResponse();
using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(getResponse.GetResponseStream()))
{
pageSource = sr.ReadToEnd();
}
The response that i get back from the POST request is "HTML OK", and cookieHeader is not null. But when i then try to make a GET request to get what i want, i get a 404 error when attempting to access the job "http://serverName:portNum/job/some_job/", as if i didn't log in successfully.
So what is the correct way to log into Jenkins from c#, and get the HTML source code of the jobs that only appears after logging in?
The RESTAPI is your best friend here.
It is an incredibly rich source of information. I have written a system that will show an entire program of work on a page with full deployment traceability.
I am going to assume you have some security in place in your Jenkins instance which means requests need to be authenticated.
I use the following class for this:
using System;
using System.Net;
using System.Text;
namespace Core.REST
{
public class HttpAdapter
{
private const string ApiToken = "3abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz12345"; // you will need to change this to the real value
private const string UserName = "restapi";
public string Get(string url)
{
try
{
const string credentials = UserName + ":" + ApiToken;
var authorization = Convert.ToBase64String(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(credentials));
using (var wc = new WebClient())
{
wc.Headers[HttpRequestHeader.Authorization] = "Basic " + authorization;
var htmlResult = wc.DownloadString(string.Format(url));
return htmlResult;
}
}
catch (WebException e)
{
Console.WriteLine("Could not retrieve REST API response");
throw e;
}
}
}
}
restapi is a dedicated user I created. I think I gave it admin access just so I didn't have to worry about it. I was admin but all the other developers and testers in the 3 crews had highly controlled and limited access to only what they needed and nothing more. It is also better practice to have a dedicated users for functions like this.
I constructed my c# classes to consume (deserialise) data from any page that supports the api/json suffix.

Insert photo ERROR: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden

I need your help!.
Im trying to insert a new photo into a Picasa Album using Oauth 2.0 and a simple HttpRequest process. The result is that I cant insert a new photo into my Picasa web album after following the instructions listed on: https://developers.google.com/picasa-web/docs/2.0/developers_guide_protocol#Auth
I also have to say that I tried using the .Net library that they provide with the same results.
The implementation that I'm using now is the following:
public static string PostImage(
string streamImageConvertedToString)
{
string url = string.Format("https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/api/user/{0}/albumid/{1}", "username#gmail.com", "idAlbum");
HttpWebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(url) as HttpWebRequest;
request.ContentType = "image/jpeg";
request.ContentLength = Encoding.UTF8.GetByteCount(data);
request.Method = "POST";
request.Headers.Add("GData-Version", "2");
request.Headers.Add("Slug", "cute_baby_kitten.jpg");
request.Headers.Add("Authorization", "Bearer " + GetToken());
if (data != null)
{
using (StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(request.GetRequestStream()))
{
writer.Write(data);
}
}
HttpWebResponse response = request.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse;
string result = string.Empty;
using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()))
{
result = reader.ReadToEnd();
}
return result;
}
private static string GetToken() {
const string ServiceAccountEmail = "someid#developer.gserviceaccount.com";
var servicio = new PicasaService(null);
var certificate = new X509Certificate2(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("/key2.p12"), "notasecret", X509KeyStorageFlags.Exportable);
var serviceAccountCredentialInitializer =
new ServiceAccountCredential.Initializer(ServiceAccountEmail)
{
Scopes = new[] { "https://picasaweb.google.com/data/" }
}.FromCertificate(certificate);
var credential = new ServiceAccountCredential(serviceAccountCredentialInitializer);
if (!credential.RequestAccessTokenAsync(System.Threading.CancellationToken.None).Result)
throw new InvalidOperationException("Access token request failed.");
return credential.Token.AccessToken;
}
Any help is welcome!!
(403) Forbidden
Means that you are trying to use a method insert which requires authorization to do.
you are connecting to service account someid#developer.gserviceaccount.com which should give you access to someid#developer.gserviceaccount.com pictures then.
you appear to be trying to access username#gmail.com unless you have given someid#developer.gserviceaccount.com access to insert pictures on behalf of username#gmail.com (Which I am not even sure is possible) you are not going to have permission to do this.
Remember a service account is a sudo user it has its own drive account, calendar account ... it does not have access to a random users data unless that user has given them access like they would any other user.
Note: Google .net client library does not support gdata APIs. Picasa is a gdata library I like how are trying to merge the two I am have to test this.
You're best (imho) approach would be to forget libraries and forget service accounts. Get a refresh token for the google user account you're trying to insert to, and use the raw HTTP REST API to invoke Picasa.

read/get http post data by shopify on url

I have created a webhook
Order payment and given URL http://example.com/shopifydata.htm
Now I want to get all the data posted by shopify on order payment in C#
I have following code
HttpWebRequest myRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://example.com/shopifydata.htm");
myRequest.Method = "Get";
//if needs credential you can use myRequest.Credentials
using (HttpWebResponse myResponse = (HttpWebResponse)myRequest.GetResponse())
{
StreamReader mysr = new StreamReader(myResponse.GetResponseStream(), Encoding.GetEncoding("GB2312"));
//get the string content you can see what it is
string responseResult = mysr.ReadToEnd();
}
But I am not able to get anything
Where as when I use http://requestb.in/ I am able to get data. But can't get success on my site page
Please advise
Thanks

Simulating a full post request

I am trying to simulate a post request using WebClient; However, When logging in using Firefox and debugging the request with firebug i find that after the POST request it automatically do some GET requests while using my code only do the POST request
MY CODE
//Handler is an overridden WebClient Class
private async Task<byte[]> Post(string uri, string[] data)
{
var postData = new NameValueCollection();
foreach (var info in data.Select(var => var.Split('=')))
{
postData.Add(info[0], info[1]);
}
return await Handler.UploadValuesTaskAsync(new Uri(uri), postData);
}
I know this isn't what you are asking for, AND its in VB, but hopefully it can help to point you in the right direction. It is what I use to make post requests on one of our websites. It works for simulating the POST data, hopefully you can incorporate some of that into what you are doing.
Dim postData As String = String.Format("RedirectLocation=RequestMethod=&username={0}&password={1}", _username, _password)
Dim _loginRequest As HttpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create(loginurl)
With _loginRequest
.Method = "POST"
.ContentLength = postData.Length
.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"
.KeepAlive = True
.AllowAutoRedirect = False
.CookieContainer = New CookieContainer
Using writer As New StreamWriter(.GetRequestStream)
writer.Write(postData)
End Using
.Timeout = tsTimeOut.TotalMilliseconds
_loginResponse = .GetResponse()
End With
