Creating custom section Umbraco 4.11 - c#

I have recently upgraded to the newest Umbraco 4.11.1 and the old way to create custom sections doesn't seem to work any more. Which isn't a bad thing because that didn't really work well. However I can't seem to find any information at all on how to create one in the newer versions.
I found this blog post:
as from here on the entries for applications and application trees have now been moved to config files located in the config folder. Unsurprisingly, these are named applications.config and trees.config.
However I don't even have applications.config and trees.config.
And I can't find any other information about this.

Because you upgraded the site, you probably didn't copy any files from the config folder. I'd suggest copying the applications.config and trees.config from the zip you downloaded for the upgrade.

How to configure Telerik in ASP.NET?

I have been working with ASP.NET for a while, but I have never worked with such old applications (which were made more than 10 years ago). At this moment I have a problem with the Telerik license, because I'm trying to locate and configure the licenseKey but I can't find the location where the files needed to modify them are located.
I was checking the Web.config but the license key is not there, I was also looking for the LicenseFile.xml file as indicated in the documentation but I can't find this file in the project nor in the location of the C: disk.
Finally I did a global search in the project code and I can't find where the license can be configured.
Do any of you know where I can locate the license to be able to configure it? Please I need to make some adjustments on it. Thank you very much for your help

Getting a list of all dependencies from a .NET Standard project's csproj

Ever since I've been using the (relatively) new .NET Standard Library project type in Visual Studio, I've been having some problems getting a complete set of DLL files that are required by my project.
The problem is usually limited to 3rd-party libraries which I reference as NuGet packages. I've noticed that these don't get copied to the output folder of my project when I build it. This didn't use to be the case in classic project types.
While I can appreciate the de-cluttering effect that this change has brought for .NET Standard projects, I'm now faced with a problem. I sometimes absolutely need to be able to get the entire list of all files that my project depends on!
I have several different cases, where I might require this list for one reason or another, but the one I believe is most crucial for me, is when I want to gather these files from the csproj itself, right after it's built. In there, I have a custom MSBuild <Target> which should take all the files from the output dir and zip them together for distribution. The problem is, I'm missing all the files that come from NuGet dependencies, because they're not there!
How can I solve this in a general (i.e. not project-specific) way?

There's this deps.json file that contains basically all I'm after and then some. It's just a matter of extracting the relevant information and find the files in the local NuGet cache. But that would involve writing a specialized app and calling it from my target. Before I start writing one myself... Is there something like this already out there somewhere?
I followed this answer and it sort of works.
The suggested thing was to include the following into my csproj:
<CopyLocalLockFileAssemblies>true</CopyLocalLockFileAssemblies>
My main concern is that it also outputs some other DLLs from the framework (such as System.Memory.dll and System.Buffers.dll, among others), which I didn't expect. But maybe that's a good thing. They do seem to be dependencies, just not direct ones. I'll see how it plays out.
If it turns out ok, my only wish would be that this directive was more prominently displayed in project settings (as a simple checkbox, maybe?) so I wouldn't have to hunt the web to find it.

How to build different editions of an ASP.Net Webform by excluding some folders and files?

I hope it's not a duplicated question since I searched enough about it but I found nothing, maybe that's because I didn't know the appropriate words describing my situation.
The question:
Summary: Can Visual Studio build different editions of an ASP.Net Webform just by a simple wizard or something like that? Some Cs, Js Or Css files or some folders shouldn't be involved in the final output.
Detailed:
We have had a very large ASP.Net project containing lots of folders and involving lots of features, we have been offering the whole project to customers and we have been protecting it by License approach (which applies Private and Public keys mechanism).
Now the company considers to offer different editions of the application based on the customer type, so if the customer is a small business it will be offered an application with less features since he is going to pay less money.
Keep in mind that we don't want to offer customers the complete application and then based on the permission which are defined in a table in the database he can get access to just the features we tend, It's no that good, beacuse after he are given the limited edition license, he is able to change his permission by modifying the related table in databadse or if he dissemble the related Cs or dll files (I have read about obfuscation to make it safer)
They wouldn't gain anything even if they grant required permissions complately to themselves beacuse they don't have required files.
I had hared of an application which is used to manage -or better to say customize- the project build process, what is the best solution? would you enlighten me?
I would highly recomend you to look into build configurations in visual studio. There you can choose what project files to build and control the output.

I'm still looking for the best solution but for now, after searching a lot I found some solutions applying MsBuild, for instance to exclude some folders and some files from being published you can add following script in visual studio project file (.csproj):

<ExcludeFromPackageFolders Include="Scripts\large">
<FromTarget>Project</FromTarget>
</ExcludeFromPackageFolders>
<ExcludeFromPackageFiles Include="Scripts\mash.js.chirp.config"/>
<ExcludeFromPackageFiles Include="Content\mash.js.chirp.config"/>
</ItemGroup>
This will cause the following folder and files to be excluded:
Scripts\large
mash.js.chirp.config
You should add above script in .csproj xml config file exactly below the line which says:
<Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath32)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" />

Keep in mind that there is no visual studio project file in Web site so you can apply it in Web application but Website, Here is the source from MSDN.
Although here it's told that you can use MSBuild even if it's about Website, Take a look at this link so you'll learn how to create a project file for that purpose.

Where can I find ninject.web.mvc.dll?

I feel stupid for even asking this, but I can't find the file anywhere.
I've added Areas to my MVC 2 application. It caused some errors with Ninject, and after some research, I found the solution. Part of the solution is that I need new .dlls, ninject and ninject.web.mvc.
Everywhere I look, it says to go here (https://github.com/ninject/ninject.web.mvc) to get the .dlls. I've downloaded and searched through the download, and can't find it, it's not in there.
Where can I get it?
Grab the latest of everything from our build server on codebetter.com. Just look at the build artifacts from whichever MVC version you are using.
You need to build them. There are instructions on how to build them in the download package.
Once you download the source code from GitHub you need to build it.

Creating a single CRM plugin DLL to store in the CRM database

Since the suggested way of storing plugins in MS CRM is via the CRM database, I figured it's about time to do something about the method I'm currently using, which is storing the DLLs on the disk.
The trouble however is that I don't know how to embed all the other various bits that are needed by the DLL: the localization resource files (which are kept in another folder) and some referenced DLLs from the latest SDK (which had to be manually placed in the bin\assembly folder). At this point, I'm not even entirely sure this is possible.
So far I've tried to solve the localization problem by changing the build action on the resource files to "Content" or "Resource" and tested this solution (still keeping the location on-disk, but without the added localization folder). This didn't work: when I purposely generated a validation error in one of the plugins, I got the default language message (English) despite having a different language selected in the CRM.
I've faced a similar problem when trying to add some of the referenced DLL files (namely the new SDK DLLs: xrm.portal, xrm.portal.files and xrm.client). When I tried to store the plugin in the database (skipping for a moment the localization issue), I got a CRM error saying it cannot find the XRM.Client assembly or one of it's dependencies. I know I could use ILMerge to put the whole thing together, but I've got a gut feeling telling me this isn't really a good idea.
Any hints or suggestions on this issue would be great.
We always ILMerge our plugins and have had no issues with that. We don't merge in the SDK dlls, because those will already be GACed on the target server.
We don't really do localization inside our plugin dlls, though, so I think what you may have to do is, if your current resource manager is file based, to make it assembly based and just load up the necessary resources from that.
I have a set of helpers that are bundled in an external assembly that I use for most of my implementations. I will deploy this to the bin folder and leave it at that. I've never tried ILMerge myself, but it seems like an interesting concept.
Simply drop the DLLs in the folder CRMWeb\Bin
