Opening existing project in VS 2012 RC - c#

I have a project which is build in VS 2012RC, But when i zipped the project and transfer it to my machine, extracted it and try to open solution file(.sln) in my machine which also consist of VS 2012RC, it fires a pop up that
"This edition of Visual Studio only supports Windows Metro style apps".
So, What do i need to do to open the project in my machine, Please let me know if am missing something, Thanks in advance.

Visual Studio 2012 has many editions. To me you are using VS Express edition, which only supports Metro app development. Like #leppie suggested, you might install VS Ultimate edition, which can open all sorts of projects.

Class Library and Console Application project templates not available on Visual Studio 2015 Express

We're growing the team but won't buy more Visual Studio Ultimate licences, so some people will have to work in VS Express edition.
We're testing it, but our projects aren't working on Express. We have projects of type Class Library - compiles into dll - and Console Application. In VS Express, when I try to create new solution/project, all I have is asp.net web application. I believe the installation I did doesn't have support for these templates, and therefore is unable to load those projects.
Is there a way to fix it? Maybe use another Express setup or install those templates separately?
Visual Studio Community will be work for you. You can download it from here: https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/community/
I installed Visual Studio 2015 Express for Desktop and those project templates became available.

How create installer with Visual Studio Express 2013? [duplicate]

I already have a project which is ready to build. Currently, I am using visual studio 2013.
But, I don't know how to create an MSI setup in visual studio 2013, but for visual studio 2010 there are plenty of tutorials out there discussing how to create a setup in visual studio 2010.
Does this mean I need to install visual studio 2010 in order to create an application setup for my project?
What is the easiest way to create an application setup in visual studio 2013?
Microsoft has listened to the cry for supporting installers (MSI) in Visual Studio and release the Visual Studio Installer Projects Extension. You can now create installers in VS2013, download the extension here from the visualstudiogallery.
visual-studio-installer-projects-extension
As of Visual Studio 2012, Microsoft no longer provides the built-in deployment package. If you wish to use this package, you will need to use VS2010.
In 2013 you have several options:
InstallShield
WiX
Roll your own
In my projects I create my own installers from scratch, which, since I do not use Windows Installer, have the advantage of being super fast, even on old machines.
Visual Studio 2013 now supports setup projects. Microsoft have shipped a Visual Studio extension to produce setup projects.
Visual Studio Installer Projects Extension
Microsoft recommends to use the "InstallShield Limited Edition for Visual Studio" as replacement for the discontinued "Deployment and Setup Project" - but it is not so nice and nobody else recommends to use it. But for simple setups, and if it is not a problem to relay on commercial third party products, you can use it.
The alternative is to use Windows Installer XML (WiX), but you have to do many things manually that did the Setup-Project by itself.
Microsoft also release the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Installer Projects Extension This is the same extension as the 2013 version but for Visual Studio 2015
Apart from Install Shield and WiX, there is Inno Setup. Although I haven't tried it myself I have heard good things about it.
I will tell , how i solved almost similar problem. I developed a application using VS 2013 and tried to create wizard for it failed to do. Later i installed premium VS and tried and failed.
at last i used "ClickOnce" and it worked fine.
So i believe here also , "CLICKONCE" would help you.

Console template in Visual studio 2013 not there?

So today I downloaded visual studio 2013 express twice (the download was canceled the first time) And when I opened it, it told me to get a windows 8 licence, and I did... The thing is, when I want to start a new project, the only template available are store app... Here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/7mpUNZn.png
I am aware back in visual studio 2010, there was an option for console application and I wonder where it is... Maybe I am being stupid, but I do need help! I do not want to create windows 8 application :/.
Any help would be great!
You have most likely downloaded VISUAL STUDIO 2013 EXPRESS FOR WINDOWS (STORE).
You need the edition for Windows Desktop, located here. See all links and editions in Scott Hanselman's recent blog post.
AFAIK, the version that you require to create a console application is
"Express 2013 for Windows Desktop"
There are 3 versions of Visual Studio Express.
all three versions are found here:
http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-express-vs.aspx
"Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013 with Update 4 for Windows Desktop" is the current version; one can choose between "install now" and a .iso image.

How to downgrade a Visual Studio 2013 project to a Visual Studio 2008 project?

Is there anyway of downgrading a Visual Studio 2013 project to a Visual Studio 2008 project ? I need to run some C# programs created in VS 2013 with VS 2008.
See this answer. But I really wouldn't recommend this, even if it does work, which to be honest is not guaranteed.
Better to either create a new VS2008 solution and just Add Existing...manually bringing in all the source files, or better yet, just sign up for VS Team Services, grab VSExpress 2013, and you don't have to worry about conversion.

WP7 XNA+Silverlight Templates missing

I got an issue with Visual Studio, Silverlight 5 Beta SDK and XNA.
I did a fresh install of all Visual Studio components I need to create the application I have in mind:
Visual C# 2010 Express
XNA Game Studio 4.0
Visual Web Developer 2010 Express
Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone
Visual Studio 2010 SP1
Silverlight 5 Beta Tools
However, when I start VS 2010 Express for Windows Phone and go to create a new project these are the templates I have:
Missing Templates
But there are a few templates missing.
How can I make appear the following templates:
Full list of templates
So what am I missing in this? I believe I installed everything and still nothing appears.
Is it because I'm using the express edition of visual studio? it doesn't make much sense though.
You installed that SDK correctly (uninstalled a previous installed SDK version correctly too)?
You could try and reset your vs2010 settings. This sometimes helps to restore missing project templates. You can do so like this:
Go to Tools / Import Export Settings
Choose to "Reset all Settings"
Restart Visual Studio
No guarantees but that helped me once before, so it is probably worth a try.
Just for others to know, you must have Visual Studio 2010 service pack 1(download link) before that.
