After some googling I saw that ContextMenuService is hiding out in the toolkit, and that is a seperate download.
So I went over to http://silverlight.codeplex.com/releases/view/78435 and dowloaded it. Expecting too much (and a little magic maybe) I still cant use <toolkit:ContextMenuService.ContextMenu> tag :-(.
What do I need to do (from the scratch, did I even donwload the right file?) to get this baby up and running, really want ContextMenus for my lists! :D

I would suggest downloading the Silvierlight for Windows Phone Toolkit Source & Samples - Nov 2011.zip and get the samples windows phone app working. That will show you some really good sample code .. then I'm sure you'll see what you are missing.
You need to download the Silverlight for Windows Phone Toolkit not the one for regular Silverlight.
Also, I'll strongly recommend you use NuGet instead of manually downloading it.

I want to do some things, which I feel are very simple, but I cannot do. I have looked at numerous websites and StackOverflow questions. One question has helped me a bit by pointing me in the right direction, but I feel I need more than just that.
Here is what I want to do (basically):
I would like to make a UWP app that can be managed by another app.
By "managed" I mean:
Should be able to install the app.
Should be able to uninstall the app.
Should be able to check for updates and update the app.
It should also be able to launch the app.
Optional requirements:
While launching the app, I would like to have it set the page of a panel to a certain page. Also fine with it clicking on the navbar and change the panel's page
This would be an example of my app would be like (the one with the panel/nav): Question
I would also like an installer (something like a .exe file or .msi file) for the installing app. Not the .appinstaller that visual studio 19 produces. Something like Inno Setup produces.
Is any of this possible?
If so, please give me some sample code/instructions/links. I would be very thankful for any advice/points in the right direction as well!
If not, please suggest what other language/framework I should use to accomplish these tasks (Is "tasks" the right word?). I don't mind learning anything and have unlimited time. Don't care about the learning curve either. (If I need C++, I will do it. ONLY IF I NEED IT!!!)

As the Rob Caplan said, PackManager class doesn’t support uwp app, it is suitable for desktop app. So maybe you need to create a wpf app and use Desktop bridge to package it into uwp app so that you could use this api. In addition, you could find the sample here about installing appx package, its parent directory Windows-classic-samples/Samples/ also contains other samples you need, such as PackageManagerRemovePackage, etc, please check it.

I also tried looking at solution properties, project properties, visual studio preferences, Visual Studio extensions, change XAML xmlns definitions but I have no clue why this is not possible, and I think it should be standard simple functionality.
When you create a new Xamarin.Forms project that includes
, you would suspect that there is not only a way to see your XAML design on Android and iOS but also for any Windows platform you are targeting, such as W10 Desktop but also other Windows platforms that UWP supports and that supposedly Xamarin. Forms do support according to the website from Microsoft. You can easily build your project for these platforms, no problem. But I want to see what I am doing before I compile my work.
When opening your XAML design, instead of a simple Android / iOS and Windows tab in the design panel, Windows is nowhere to be found.
How am I supposed to see how my Windows screen is going to look without an option to see this? In WPF and plain UWP, this works fine, but somehow for Xamarin it only shows Android/IOS, but apparently, Xamarin has full support for Windows (desktop).
I am looking for multi-platform support to create a windows desktop application that is easily portable to iOS and Android. I thought Xamarin could do that, but if I am not able to see what I am doing on Windows in terms of layout, how am I supposed to develop a solid UI for the platform?
I am probably missing some kind of checkbox somewhere (I am hoping), but I cannot find any information about this. Yes, I tried to google. And Stack overflow. And Xamarin documentation from Microsoft. And watch YouTube videos about Xamarin for 20 minutes that supposed to explain the Xamarin multi-platform support. And after 20 minutes I find they only specifically explain iOS/Android but nothing about Windows. So yeah, getting pretty tired of searching and hope someone can be kind enough to help me out.
This is a limitation of Xamarin.Forms. Although it uses XAML, it has a custom XAML dialect which is not compatible with WPF/UWP, so the built-in UWP designer cannot handle it directly and it will require a custom designer implementation.
But if you want a first-class Windows development experience compatible with Android, iOS and even WebAssembly, try looking into the Uno Platform. This is a UWP bridge with full XAML compatibility with UWP XAML, so your app will look exactly the same on all platforms and provides full templating and styling support. In addition, Uno Platform provides bridge for many non-UI APIs as well, including things like Clipboard, Accelerometer and so on. In the end you will be able to just write a Windows app which will work everywhere with minimal changes.
You can use XAML adaptive triggers to make sure the app works well on each screen size and scales great from desktop to mobile.
If you want desktop version of you app just add UWP or WPF blank project to your solution.

I've been attempting to bring some of my XNA games to the web with Silversprite. However, whenever I run these apps they appear as a white screen.
I am wondering if anyone has any idea on how this might be fixed.
I have followed the tutorials exactly (except replacing the XNA apps they used with my own). Nothing is working.

My requirement is to take a photo. The application will be used on some legacy windows XP and Vista machines, but going forward Windows 7 and greater will be required. So what might the best approach be with the broad install base? Just reading WIA looked like the way to go but looks like some changes were made so it works a little different now (I don't know for sure). I understand that some people have done combos.
Might need to crop photo, but that is really about it.

I think the best thing is to use the WIA. I know a third party toolkit that could help you doing your requirements which is leadtools. You can check this Tutorial
I would always try to pick up something already on the web and tweak it to my own needs... some open source project or an example where the mainly portion of my app is already made.
on Codeplex you can find a nice library to work with webcams and it's simply called
WebCam Library for WinForm and WPF with C# and VB.NET
Give that a try, maybe you can even help the project, by contributing your own findings, and everyone is a winner... isn't Open Source a great idea?!
I am trying to put a Flash ActiveX control into a Windows Form but I am running into a problem: a lack of documentation. The best I have found is a site called "F-IN-BOX" that has some documentation but much of the API is still a black box. For example, some property will take an integer or a string and provide no clue about what it wants. Another exanple is the FlashVersion() function that inexplicably returns 655361 on version 10.
Incidentally I'm having the same problem with Apple's Quicktime OCX. I've searched both sites and Google and I'm starting to wonder if either of these companies provide documentation for any of their products. Does anybody know where I can find documentation for either of them, even if it's the unofficial variety?

Adobe help take a look at this sample. It's very simple and nice to use.
You should stick with ExternalInterfaceProxy all time because it simplifies communication 100x times.
