I had windows application and I published it and I installed it in other pc and when I was installing in this error apeared(you cannot run application that require that assembly microsoft sql server.connection info 9.0.242.0 ......)
Random guess...
You need with either SQL Server native client or SQL Server SMO. or both
You say "published" so I'm guessing it's a ClickOnce deployment.
One gotcha of the automated ClickOnce deployment (at least, it was as of VS2008) is that it doesn't automatically pick up the dependencies of any projects you reference in the project you publish from - you have to add the references into your main project by hand, then they will be added to the manifest, and then deployed to client machines upon installation.
Hope this helps.

At the moment I have a Windows Service and App (Desktop Tray Win Form App with Stop/Start buttons to stop the service and a PING to check the 3rd party API it uses it working and obtain the current balance - It's a Betfair Betting app)
At the moment I am running this off my Win 7 64 bit Desktop but we are moving to a dedicated server Win 2012.
Both the Win Service/Form are in the same project and they reference a DLL which I made that has all the code inside (connects to the DB, 3rd party Betfair API, gets runner/winner info, renews session info etc).
The Windows Server does NOT have Visual Studio on it.
Can I just copy my DLL up to the server, put it in Windows/System32 and Regsvr register it and then copy the .EXE for my Form and Service up to the server?
Also without having the VS Toolset to register a Win Service on a machine what commands do I need to run to install the Windows Service on the Server.
These are 2 distinct solutions, one with the DLL code, one with the Service Project and Win Form Project.
I just want to know the best/quickest/easiest/proper way of getting it to work on the new server without having VS on it to register the service.
Can I just copy the code up to a folder (should it go in a specific folder on the server - the log files are piped out into it's own sub folder of /programdata) and run installutil [PATH TO EXE] to install the Service or is there something more I need to do.
As there are two solutions I can't (or don't know how to) create a deployment package with all the right links and references in across solutions.
However should it be more complicated than..
-Copy DLL to System32
-Regsvr my DLL
-Build the service/win form project on my computer then copy the .EXEs up somewhere
-Run installutil [PATH TO EXE] to register the service
-Double click the windows form to open it (should auto start on reboot and sit in desktop tray)
All in .NET 4.5, Was built in vs 2012, 64 bit, C#
Thanks for any help in advance
Creating a deployment package is the better option, but, because it's not a option for you, the regsvr32 and installutil option should do the job.
Hope it helps!
My project makes use of the Oracle.DataAccess.dll DLL and when I build and run my application it works fine on my PC, as I have added the reference in my project to it C:\Oracle\instantclient_11_2_dc\odp.net\bin\4\Oracle.DataAccess.dll
However when I run on another machine without this reference it fails installation with the following message.
How do I include the DLL file in my project so it is deployed with it as as requirement, and doesn't reference my local file system?
You have to install the Oracle client on the client machine if this is a client/server application. If it is web based application then it should be installed there.
I don't use the instant client as I end up wanting to edit the connections in the TNSNames.ora so I use the full or Administrator install.
The client version will usually connect back or forward two Oracle versions but life is easier if you use the version appropriate to your database version.
You'll want to install the Oracle Data Access Components from here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/dotnet/downloads/net-downloads-160392.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen on your dev machine AND any servers you plan on deploying to (or you can xcopy install per How can I deploy a .NET application that uses ODAC without installing the whole component to the user?). Also marked Q as duplicate to this one.
I have made a desktop app Setup that connects with remote Oracle 10g Database. When I install Setup on remote machine and run my application then I get following error:
system.data.oracleclient requires oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater
It works well on my Development machine.
It is a security issue, so to fix it simply do the following:
Go to the Oracle Client folder.
Right Click on the folder.
On security Tab, Add "Authenticated Users" and give this account Read & Execute permission.
Apply this security for all folders, Subfolders and Files (IMPORTANT).
Don't Forget to REBOOT your Machine; if you forgot to do this you will still face the same problem unless you restart your machine.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/fabdulwahab/archive/2011/11/13/system-data-oracleclient-requires-oracle-client-software-version-8-1-7-or-greater.aspx
The error message is pretty self-explanatory: your application needs the Oracle Client installed on the machine it's running on. Your development PC already has it. Make sure your target PC has it, too.
Edit: The System.Data.OracleClient namespace is deprecated. Make sure you use the driver native to your database system, that would be ODP.NET from Oracle.
Install Nuget for Oracle.ManagedDataAccess
Make sure you are using header for Oracle:
using Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client;
This Worked for me.
On your remote machine, System.Data.OracleClient need access to some of the oracle dll which are not part of .Net. Solutions:
Install Oracle Client , and add bin location to Path environment varaible of windows
OR
Copy
oraociicus10.dll (Basic-Lite version) or aociei10.dll (Basic version),
oci.dll, orannzsbb10.dll and oraocci10.dll from oracle client installable folder to bin folder of application so that application is able to find required dll
On your local machine most probably path to Oracle Client is already added in Path environment variable to there required dll are available to application but not on remote machine
If you have to use the older client, here is my experience.
We are running a 32bit server so the development machines run the 32bit client. We run the 11.1 install, 11.2 gets the error. Once you have installed the 11.2 version you have to manually delete the files Oracle.Web.dll and System.Data.OracleClient.dll from the %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727, reinstall 11.1, then register the dlls with gacutil.exe.
This fixed the issue with my systems.
Go to C:\app\insolution\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN and find oci.dll. Right click on it -->Properties -->Under Security tab, click on Edit -->Then Click on Add Button --> Here add two new users with names IUSR and IIS_IUSRS and give them full controls. That's it.
After installation of Oracle Client 11.02.04, reboot the server and make sure USERS(Local Computer) is added with Full Control on Root folder for eg WWW
Tested, it worked.
This posting is about mostly desktops and this oracle message. I want to talk about server class machines running a dtexec that are throwing this error message. In one case it meant that an installed oracle client instance on a server machine was no longer there, and it had been there for a long time. On the client side we found recently 1/2023 that certain versions of the oracle client 32 bit don't run on a laptop with AMD chips. Downgrading to a lower version of the oracle client 19.x fixed the problem.
I develop a web application on Microsoft .Net 4 and Entity Framework 5. When I upload the project on my web farm it doesn't work. I believe that Entity Framework is not installed on my web farm. So I contacted my host to support this particular issue.
They said:
Send us a download and installation instructions, with any
requirements to install Entity Framework.
Except we utilize a link from directly within Visual Studio through Nuget.
How do you load the proper deployment information onto a server, since you can't directly deploy with Nuget since they don't have Visual Studio installed?
Server Information:
Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit
Nuget link I used to install Entity Framework.
If possible please guide me or reference a place where I can solve this deployment issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance.
In order to successfully launch your project on a deployment server you should ensure that your application has a Deployment Package to be installed on the server.
Deployment Considerations can be found here:
You have a lot of things you need to consider, but Entity Framework does have a lot of choices and flexibility. Some of your choices:
Click Once Security and Deployment
Windows Installer Deployment
What Is a ClickOnce Application?
A ClickOnce application is any Windows Presentation Foundation
(.xbap), Windows Forms (.exe), console application (.exe), or Office
solution (.dll) published using ClickOnce technology. You can publish
a ClickOnce application in three different ways: from a Web page, from
a network file share, or from media such as a CD-ROM. A ClickOnce
application can be installed on an end user's computer and run locally
even when the computer is offline, or it can be run in an online-only
mode without permanently installing anything on the end user's
computer. For more information, see Choosing a ClickOnce Deployment
Strategy.
ClickOnce applications can be self-updating; they can check for newer
versions as they become available and automatically replace any
updated files. The developer can specify the update behavior; a
network administrator can also control update strategies, for example,
marking an update as mandatory. Updates can also be rolled back to an
earlier version by the end user or by an administrator. For more
information, see Choosing a ClickOnce Update Strategy.
Because ClickOnce applications are isolated, installing or running a
ClickOnce application cannot break existing applications. ClickOnce
applications are self-contained; each ClickOnce application is
installed to and run from a secure per-user, per-application cache.
ClickOnce applications run in the Internet or Intranet security zones.
If necessary, the application can request elevated security
permissions. For more information, see Securing ClickOnce
Applications.
How does a Windows Installer Deployment work?
Windows Installer
deployment enables you to create installer packages to be distributed
to users; the user runs the setup file and steps through a wizard to
install the application. This is accomplished by adding a Setup
project to your solution. When built, the project creates a setup file
that you distribute to users; the user runs the setup file and steps
through a wizard to install the application.
That is a brief description of a few ways, you can find examples here: Once you actually have your host load your deployment package it should run without any issues. Hopefully this points you in the correct direction.
I am new to .NET application.
I have developed the application on 32 bit OS with Visual Studio 2008.
The application required the Microsoft.Interop services and for PDF services to open PDF files and MS Office files.
It also required SQL Express for database operations.
The application works fine on 32bit OS.
Then I created the setup for 64 bit OS, I added a new Setup project with wizard in Visual
Studio 2010 and select the Primary output and Localized resources.
But it does not included the Resources folder to the Application folder.
I set the target machine 64x and build the project, also before building give the prerequisites to the project which is Windows Installer 3.1, and .net framework 4.0, I have used the .net framwork 3.5 in the application.
Then I ran the setup, which executed successfully.
But when I tried to run the application it gave the message "Application has stoped working. Finding for the solution from the web.." and it closed.
Then I saw that there was no resources folder so I just copied the resources folder to the application where it was installed. Then the application worked fine.
So I created the setup again but this time I also provided the Resources folder to the application folder. Built the Setup and tried to run the application but the same message is prompted to me as it was giving before "Application has stopped working...", so I looked for the resource folder and all the required files which were there.
Creating a separate 64-bit version makes no sense in your case.
You have dependencies to 32-bit components; as a consequence, all1 your assemblies must be compiled to the x86 target platform and be installed using a 32-bit MSI.
If you get an "Application has stopped working..." error, this indicates that an exception occurred that has not been handled by your process. You can get the stack trace e.g. from the event log.
1 In fact, at the least the entry assembly must have an x86 target platform, and all other assemblies must have either an x86 or AnyCPU target platform.
Check you have changed the platform target to x64 or AnyCPU in your project -> Build Properties
hey friends thanks for answering my question. Finally doing a lot of things I found that it was converting the sql database to 2008 while creating the setup. And I was setting the sql express 2005 on the client machine. Then I changed the sql server 2005 to sql express 2008 and run the setup. Then I found that at the first time the exe required all the rights to convert so I tried the setup Run as Administrator and bingo the setup works for 2 different pc..
The only thing is required that at first time I need to run the application as Administrator.
Thanks for help I
