I've seen quite a few examples of XMPP clients in .Net, and I've seen quite a few servers in various languages, but I'm looking for a .Net version (opensource if possible) of a XMPP server. It doesn't particularly have to be stable, or full of features, I just want something that works a little. Reliability is not really an issue.
Here are some that I found:
http://code.google.com/p/goodwarejabber/downloads/list (a bit old...)
EDIT: Note the comment below by the author of jabber-net, noting that jabber-net is not for writing servers:
http://code.google.com/p/jabber-net/wiki/FAQ_License
As an alternative, take a look at this SO question:
Jabber-net integration
or at these libraries:
http://code.google.com/p/jabber-net/
that would allow you to create your own (if that is an option for you).
You can download and take a look at trial version of MatriX library. It contains a sample on how to implement your own server.

Download the MatriX for .NET version.
You could ask the support forum for help actually

I am a beginner and I am very confused about the.net version so please let me know if is there any issue learning concepts of c#.net and asp.net with version 3.5 and 4.0 and if companies are working on it or not and if these all concepts are outdated or not. please help me I got stuck here can I learn from this and work with the organization or not?😥😥
Fundamentally? No; however, with the age of these tools, it becomes increasingly hard to
get the tooling working
get good examples that work
get help
get up-to-date auxiliary libraries to help you work
(and of course it is Windows only)
3.5 SP1 was 2008; in software terms, that's pretty ancient. Is there a market? Sure: some companies (for various reasons) have not or can not migrate to more recent technologies. But for learning? I'd probably say "use .NET 7" as the default - it'll solve all of the points above.

I've built a robust system that has many core functions that might actually get mess to use if I keep on expanding the code - therefore I decided to implement a scripting language and ability for program to read scripts from external files.
My first idea was to use C# by default, but then I've remembered how easy and readable Lua was, so I went with that - sadly, I can't find a simple yet effective library that would allow me to incorporate lua into my software.
tl;dr — is there a simple library one could use to implement lua and thus make usage of software built-in functions way easier? What are your thoughts and opinions on that?
First, there's MoonSharp.
I did experiments with it a while ago. Ultimately, I found it unsuitable for my needs, but it was straightforward to make use of.
Edit: dug up my GitHub repo where I tried this out.

I am looking forward to build a web Based RDP client for one of my projects. Unfortunately, I could find only one Open Source project for this i.e. Guacamole.
I tried to go through the documentation, but It was written in some alien language. I am a C#/ASP.net/jQuery developer and the documentation is pretty confusing to me.
I did not find any install package for Windows in the documentation, neither I found any compiling methods for windows.
Is there any alternative to Guacamole for windows ? I'd prefer C# based back end over HTML5.
If not, please tell me about windows documentation of Guacamole.
Any help would be highly apppreciated..!!
Thank you..!

I found a great walk-through for Sync Framework here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb726010.aspx
But, it is using Sync Framework version 1. I would like to use version 2 of the Sync Framework, as it appears to be much simpler to implement. But, I can't find a single tutorial on it. I have been looking for a while, and I am usually pretty good at finding obscure stuff when I need it. Can someone point me to a good walk-through for version 2 of Sync Framework, similar to the one I reference above?
Thanks for whatever you can provide.
the tutorial you referenced above should still apply to either 2.0 or 2.1 as the SqlCeClientSyncProvider/DbServerSyncProvider (commonly referred to as offline providers) hasnt really changed that much from v1.
if you're not synchronizing devices, you might want to look at the newer SqlCeSyncProvider/SqlSyncProvider: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb902853(v=SQL.110).aspx
likewise, these tutorials are actually included in the documentation that get's installed when you install Sync Framework

I am an experienced software developer in other less common technologies, and now need to ramp up C# skills with VS2010. As an experienced developer, I understand the syntax and language of C# quite quickly.
However, developing windows and web applications with C# is somewhat foreign to me. Can someone please recommend/refer me to relevant hobby projects that take around a couple of weeks each that help familiarise developers with the most common API's and approaches to building web and/or windows applications. Thanks.
Codeplex is a great resource where you can find projects that want help and join them. See a list of openings.
I have a project which could use some help refactoring, documenting. It's on SourceForge. Have you tried looking there for Help Wanted listings?
