Developing a silverlight page in already existing web application for previewing video files. When I create a asp.net application locally and add silverlight application on the solution it works perfectly. But while I am trying to include into already existing project it throws this error. I have not deployed into the IIS. this happens while debugging.
Check the path to your xap file in your webpage. It should be something like:
/ClientBin/my.xap
Also ensure that your xap file is actually in the ClientBin folder. In the web application Properties, choose the Silverlight Applications tab and add the silverlight project to the list.
Although probably not applicable in your case, this can also occur if you are using iis and haven't registered the correct mime type for .xap files. It should be set to application/x-silverlight-app.
This is little same with another answer, but I give my detailed solution with image of setting.
In my case, one of my aspx page will load Zip and Xap files under ClientBin Folder, normally it'll load 20 Zip/Xap files under ClientBin\,
But I found that when building/publishing the project, the Zip/Xap files are NOT output to ClientBin\, that is ClientBin folder is nearly empty.
So my solution is to let the Zip/Xap files output to ClientBin\, to do this, the setting way can see this article:

Besides here is the screenshot of my setting, that is Right click at your Silverlight project > Properties > Silverlight Application, and you can click the Add button to add content,

I added an excel File (template.xlsx) to the project resources as an embedded resource. In my code I want to save that file to disk.
On Windows it works well with:
File.WriteAllBytes("test.xlsx", Properties.Resources.template);
But in my Xamarin.Forms project exactly the same line does not work because "Properties" is unknown in the current context.
I searched half a day in the net but all hints I got don't work either or confuse me even more. It seems I am missing an essential piece of base knowledge here. Could somebody tell me if I can easily access an embeded File in Xamarin similar like I do on Windows?
The difference I can see in the two test projects is:
In the project explorer of the windows project I can see Properties->Resources.resx. However, the template file is not located there but in Resources->template.xlsx
In the project explorer of the Xamarin project there is no Resources.resx in the Properties folder.
My file is again located under Resources->template.xlsx
You have to read that file in your code and then use it to write that file to file storage (application sandbox) of the platform. You can save files to that location, although you may not easily be able to access that file outside the scope of the app (say from another application).
I have a problem with a web form project.
The project is set to use the local IIS web server to run the application.
In the form, I have a file upload control defined in the aspx markup page.
However, when I try to upload a file, the program always thinks that the file is located in the IIS Express folder, whatever the location of the file actually is.
I have tried to change the settings to make it use the visual studio development server but I hit the same issue. The program then always thought that the file to upload was in the development server folder.
How can I fix that?
Thank you.
My solution in in c# has two projects. Each in their own seperate folder. I can change the first folder name containing the first project and it does not affect the program. I can open and run it with no complains. However, when I change the second project folder name it gives the following warning:
One or more projects in the solution could not be loaded for the following reason(s):
The project file or web has been moved, renamed or is not on your computer.
These projects will be labled as unavailable in Solution Explorer. Expand the node to show the reason the project could not be loaded.
When I expand the node it says:
The project file or web cannot be found.
I have just renamed the folder. Where can I access the path to change this?
I have tried making a new project with the correct name. This seems to work but I now encounter another problem. Since this is a Windows Mobile application, when I debug I get the deploy box asking which mobile device I would like to run my solution on. I pick the Windows Mobile 6 Professional Emulator. The emulator comes up but after about 4 seconds I get another deploy box coming up asking me the same thing. I pick the same device and my program runs on the second emulator with no problems. I have no clue why Inow get a second deploy box. When all I done was make a new project and copy the classes from the old one to the new one.
Can someone please tell me what happend and what I can do in both cases.
Thank you in advance.
Either remove the project from the solution and re-add it, or open up the solution file in a text editor and change the path there.
You may want to check the path information in the solution file and verify that path information against the real path on the file system?
I've got an application that I'm moving over to ClickOnce and the app has a moderately sized data folder with hundreds of files that I need to inlcude in the deployment. The folder needs to be in the same place relative to the EXE after deployment. I've seen several suggestions on how to do this but there doesn't seem to be a agreed upon method for doing this.
Any suggestions would be great -
Thanks!
One good way of doing this is:
Create a folder under the app in VS name e.g. "datafiles"
Add all files to that folder using Add as link in the dialog box after selecting Add existing item on the folder
Mark all files as Copy if newer (Copy to output directory property)
Make sure the build action is content
--> when you publish the files will be put in that folder and be a part of the application installation
Good luck!
After deployment, all files marked as data are placed in the ApplicationDeployment.DataDirectory folder. I know of no way to change this. You could copy the data files during the first run of your app, but this approach will not survive any upgrades that include data file changes.
Alternatively if you have control over the location of the data folder during development, you can place in the same relative (to the app folder) location as will be specified after deployment.

These two articles provide methods of doing this. Between the two of thing you can find one that works for you. The one that worked for me was:
With a project selected in Solution Explorer, on the Project menu,
click Properties. Click the Publish tab. Click the Application Files
button to open the Application Files dialog box. In the Application
Files dialog box, select the file that you wish to mark as data. In
the Publish Status field, select Data File from the drop-down list.
I have a folder that contains ASPX code and its codebehind (C#) as well as a solution file. The compiled version of the application resides in the inetpub directory.
Whenever I open the solution in Visual Studio, VS warns me that it is attempting to open a precompiled website and asks me if I want to continue. If I click NO it does nothing, but If I click yes it shows me the ASPX files in the inetpub directory.
How do I make the solution work with that code in the directory that it is in (ie with the aspx and codebehind)?
Thanks
Sounds like this solution was created by going to File->Open->Web Site and then saved afterward. In orther words, this is not the original solution file.
I suggest simply creating a new solution. Add the exisitng .csproj if appropriate (ie, you have a Web Application Project), or the existing web site from the directory your code is in.
Before you open your solution try opening your .sln file in Notepad or some other editor and double check that your web site path is right.
Debug.AspNetCompiler.VirtualPath = "/Url..."
Debug.AspNetCompiler.PhysicalPath = "Physical Path from the solution file\"
Debug.AspNetCompiler.TargetPath = "PrecompiledWeb\this might be the same as your physical path?\"
