I created my ClickOnce application witch will install a small windows form application that consists on a WebBrowser control... I need to pass some arguments (this is made per client instalation) in order to open it correctly...
as an example, let's say that I need arg(0) to be the url to open, if I generate a normal Setup I will end up with the .exe file and all I need to do is:
myWebBrowser.exe "http://www.google.com"
but because I'm using ClickOnce method, I'm ending up with
myWebBrowser.appref-ms
if I open it it contains as normal the URL and other parameters
http://www.myWebSite.com/My.WebBrowser/MyWebBrowser.application#My Web Browser.application, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=5f83fa0e3f8a8c2b, processorArchitecture=msil
and I can't pass arguments in it :(
What is the trick for this?

I found out about this blog post... I will try it and post my findings
You should be able to use query string like normal...
http://someserver/folder/some.application?a=b&c=d&e=f
The trick is how your app looks for those arguments (plus it must have url arguments enabled in the publish properties) - you should check System.Deployment.Application.ApplicationDeployment.IsNetworkDeployed - if set, look at either AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetupInformation.ActivationArguments.ActivationData (the first item in the array) or (simpler) the ActivationUri of the current deployment.

I have a project based on the Chris Hammond, Christoc, module template. I have a ton of code that I use to access data an external database. In my repositories I change the database from the default to whichever I need for that particular object. I do so with code that looks like this:
using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance(MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY))
{
var rep = ctx.GetRepository<Product>();
products = rep.Get().ToList();
}
The default database is switched in the call to .Instance(). The repositories are used by my custom DNN modules. The repository is part of the solution that contains multiple custom modules. When I compile and install using the Extensions part of DNN, everything works well. In the code above, MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY is found in a file MyModuleSettingsBase.cs file of my module solution. It is set to a simple string like "ProductDatabase". In the solution for the base DNN install (not the module solution), within the web.config file, there is a value in <connectionStrings> with name="ProductDatabase" which contains the actual connection string. This all links up fine on the DNN website.
Now I am writing a console application that does some monitoring of the site. I want to access the database to check values in the product table. I would like to reuse all of the repository code I have written. In an attempt to do so, I added a reference to the MyModules.dll file so I would only have one copy of the base code. This works to give me access to all the objects and the associated repositories but when I attempt to query data it fails. When debugging I can see that it fails on the line:
using (IDataContext ctx = DataContext.Instance(MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY))
When viewed in a debugger, the string value MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY is correctly set to "ProductDatabase" but the code is unable to link this with the actual connection string. I don't know where it would be checking for the connections string when running from my console application. I attempted to put a <connectionStrings> section into my App.config file but this didn't do the trick.
Is it possible to have MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY map to the connection string in an external application which references the DLL?
If so, where can I set the value of my connection string so it matches up to the key value stored in MyModuleSettingsBase.DATABASE_CONNECTION_STRING_KEY?
I was faced similar problem 3 months ago, at that time I want to use DNN core libraries in my console application but I was failed.
I placed my queries in DNN official forum website and I got a valid response from Wes Tatters (DNN MVP).
Here is the post link: Reference URL
As your requirement of monitoring, I suggest you to create DNN Schedule Application. You can schedule it within DNN (Host->AdvancedSettings->Schedule), even good point is that you can use your repositories (DNN Libraries) in that schedule application.
I hope it solved your problem. Let me know if you have any questions.
I'd like to execute a file in a subsite. Both the parent and sub site are web apps. I don't want to redirect to the sub site file. I'm trying to execute the sub file using Server.Execute() but it isn't working.
The main URL is:
http://mysite.com/subsite
Virtual path to file in subsite: ~/subsite/subfile.aspx
When I access http://mainsite.com/subsite/subfile.aspx, it works fine. When I do
Server.Execute("~/subsite/subfile.aspx")
from the parent site, I get:
Could not load type 'Subsite.SubFile'.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I'm pretty sure server.execute doesn't cross application boundaries. I'm not 100% certain of that; but given the error message it seems likely.
Basically the error is saying that it can't locate (or load) the assembly that the Subsite.SubFile class is defined in.
I can think of two possible solutions.
Copy the assemblies for the Subsite into the main sites bin folder. This might work because the main site could then locate the assembly and execute the code. There are obvious drawbacks here. Such as needing to have all of the config information from the subsite copied into the main sites web.config. Also, any assemblies with the same name would be problematic; and, of course, needing to deploy the subsite on top of the main site every time there is an update...
Instead of doing a server.execute; use the HttpRequest class to make a regular http call to the sub site and then parse the response and write back to the browser what you need.
In my project i will be having an link like
Download
I want the users to download files of different types. The file will be in the root folder. When i am clicking on the link it is displaying an error. This is the plugin to install in the chrome. If the user download this link and open then it will automatically add to the chrome.
How can i do this.
The file is not even downloading.
This isn't a valid path:
~/hello world.crx
The ~ character is for use server-side to denote the root of the application. Client-side it has no meaning. The browser doesn't know what the root of the application is (or what the application is at all), it's just sending requests to resources at addresses. And it doesn't know what to do with that address.
You'll need to either use some server-side logic to translate that path into a browser-useable path, or manually make it a relative or absolute path.
If the ASP.NET MVC Framework isn't translating this for you then you're probably using a version that requires a little more manual work for it. Try something like:
Download
(Note: This assumes the use of the Razor view engine. If you're not using that then you'll want to use whatever your view engine equivalent is.)
What you need to do is set up a directory online, where you can host the file.
I also see that in your aref you don't want to type the full path so denote it with a /hello_world.crx, but make sure that you've set up a base href:
<base href="http://yourdomain.com/something/">
Try renaming the file to remove any spaces e.g. "hello_world.crx" and then change the name in the link code to match.
if a webpage and the downloadable file is in the same location
(i.e)
SampleFolder->Download.html
SampleFolder->hello world.crx
then try the below
download
If the webpage and the downloadable file in different location
(i.e)
SampleFolder->Download.html
SampleFolder->Downloads->hello world.crx
then try the below
download
When using WebResource.axd you will see two parameters being passed in the query string. Usually looks something like this:
WebResource.axd?d=9H3mkymBtDwEocEoKm-S4A2&t=634093400273197793
I have run into an issue where I need a permanent link to the resource in question. Recently the link I was using stopped working. What would cause these ids to change? Rebooting the server? Recompiling the code? Is there anyway to make these ids permanent?
Background -
As part of a site monitoring service we are subscribed to, we have "recorded" several sets of user actions for our website. For example, we recorded the process of logging into the site. The monitoring is now saying that the user login process fails (it's working fine) because it cannot find the WebResource.axd with the ids it recorded.
This page provides all the information on the makeup of the URL
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910442
The "d" stands for the requested Web Resource
Something worth noting is that you don't need to have the timestamp (t) parameter there to call the resource. Try it on your own site, view the source and grab a webresource.axd url and navigate to the it, remove the t
I need a little help with the C# example program of Google-Drive...
I used this so-called "tutorial"/"example":
https://developers.google.com/drive/examples/dotnet
And the code from here:
https://code.google.com/p/google-drive-sdk-samples/source/checkout
I uploaded my (only slightly modified) sourcecode here in case anybody doesn't have Mercurial (I didn't have Mercurial and no admin rights to install it either, and Mercurial is the only way to get the sourcecode...):
http://verzend.be/elt0k13enraw/DrEdit.rar.html
I always get
"Ressource cannot be found"
Requested URL: /oauth2callback
I don't find this astonishing, as no oauth2callback controller or handler is implemented...
I tried adding a Controller called oauth2callbackController and redirecting to another action in oauth2callbackController.Index, doing
return new RedirectResult("/about/about");
But that only creates a NULL-reference exception.
So i figured, maybe the wrong controller and redirected to
return new RedirectResult("/drive/Index");
But that only creates an infinite loop of redirect -> allow -> redirect - allow -> etc.
BTW, the config to change the API key + REDIRECT_URI is in
Models\ClientCredentials.cs
Note:
The problem aren't my modifications.
The sample also didn't work unmodified, with the exact same error.
All I did was removing EntityFramwork references, and throwing "Not implemented exception" when a method using entity was called.
Edit:
Additional information:
What I really wanted to do in the first place is to write a console service that exports my database, LZMA-compresses the exported content, encrypts that with OpenPGP, and uploads the database of my server to Google drive every day at 24:00 o'clock, without any user input.
I got export working without a problem, i got the LZMA compression working without a problem, I got the encryption with PGP working without a problem.
After the end of the working day (grrrr), when I was at home, I was even able to download the example-code with the mercurial installed on my Linux-machine at home, and bring it on the windows machine using SMB...
But now I can't get the sample for the Google-drive SDK working...
And moreover, what I really need is an example for a console service/daemon, not a web-application.
When I created the API key, I saw one could create a key for a service, but there is no example on how to write a Google-Drive service (console application), and no useful documentation as well (yea there is a reference, but it's only a reference, IntelliSense provides about the same)...
When configuring your app in the API Access tab of the APIs Console, you had to set the root (/) of your web server as the redirect URI and not /oauth2callback.
Assuming that your app is published at www.example.com, just go back to the APIs Console and set it to www.example.com instead of www.example.com/oauth2callback
