C# WPF Animated label content is not being shown - c#

I am trying to animate the content of a label in order to do:
Loading
Loading.
Loading..
Loading...
again:
Loading
Loading.
Loading..
Loading...
and so on like in this example.
Below the code:
<Label Grid.Row="2" x:Name="CurrentTask"
FontFamily="Microsoft Sans Serif" FontSize="18" FontStyle="Italic" FontWeight="Bold"
Foreground="White" Content="Loading">
<Label.Template>
<ControlTemplate>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False">
<Trigger.EnterActions>
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="PART_Content" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Content" Duration="00:00:00.8" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value="Loading"/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.2" Value="Loading."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.4" Value="Loading.."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.6" Value="Loading..."/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</Trigger.EnterActions>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Label.Template>
</Label>
The problem is that label content is not visible in the wpf window. It is not being shown. What am I doing wrong?
Also in the lines of type:
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value="Loading"/>
Instead of hard-coding the value I would like to concatenate the label content to the dots, how can I do this? I do not want to repeat the "Loading" string in each DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.
UPDATE:
Instead of raise trigger on IsEnabled=True, I have used label.loaded as below for example in the case of applying label style:
<Label Grid.Row="2" x:Name="CurrentTask"
FontFamily="Microsoft Sans Serif" FontSize="18" FontStyle="Italic"
Foreground="White" Content="Loading">
<Label.Style>
<Style TargetType="Label">
<Style.Triggers>
<EventTrigger RoutedEvent="Label.Loaded">
<EventTrigger.Actions>
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Content" Duration="00:00:00.8" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value="Loading"/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.2" Value="Loading."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.4" Value="Loading.."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.6" Value="Loading..."/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</EventTrigger.Actions>
</EventTrigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
</Label.Style>
</Label>

Besides the Triggers, your ControlTemplate is empty, so obviously nothing is shown.
You could add a ContentPresenter, and also remove the Storyboard.TargetName. It looks also odd that your Trigger acts on IsEnabled set to false.
<Label.Template>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Label">
<ContentPresenter/>
<ControlTemplate.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Trigger.EnterActions>
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Content" Duration="00:00:00.8" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value="Loading"/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.2" Value="Loading."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.4" Value="Loading.."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.6" Value="Loading..."/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</Trigger.EnterActions>
</Trigger>
</ControlTemplate.Triggers>
</ControlTemplate>
</Label.Template>
However, what you actually might want to have is a Style Trigger instead of a ControlTemplate Trigger:
<Label ...>
<Label.Style>
<Style TargetType="Label">
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Trigger.EnterActions>
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Content" Duration="00:00:00.8" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value="Loading"/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.2" Value="Loading."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.4" Value="Loading.."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.6" Value="Loading..."/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</Trigger.EnterActions>
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
</Label.Style>
</Label>
For the repeated "Loading" string in the Content, just use two Labels, one with a fixed "Loading" string, the other with the dots, and adjust their Padding. Or better, two TextBlocks:
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<TextBlock Text="Loading"/>
<TextBlock>
<TextBlock.Style>
<Style TargetType="TextBlock">
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="True">
<Trigger.EnterActions>
<BeginStoryboard>
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Text" Duration="00:00:00.8" RepeatBehavior="Forever">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.0" Value=""/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.2" Value="."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.4" Value=".."/>
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.6" Value="..."/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</BeginStoryboard>
</Trigger.EnterActions>
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
</TextBlock.Style>
</TextBlock>
</StackPanel>

Get Textblock value from selected ListBoxItem Template

Does anybody know how I can extract the textblock text out of a listboxitem that has been generated at runtime?
I have a ListBoxItem that I custom made that contains a SymbolIcon and a textBlock.
I just need the textBlock value.
private void AlbumSongList_SelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e)
{
var selected = AlbumSongList.SelectedItem as ListBoxItem;
DataTemplate template = selected.ContentTemplate;
Debug.WriteLine("You have selected the song: " + selected.ToString());

Here is the custom control that contains the textblock

Again, if you see the "Textblock" that has a text binding source of Sing, that is what I need the text value of.
ListBox has a default selection behavior that depends on what the items source is (the type that's used for ItemsSource). So the SelectedItem is the type of your Model class, so you can get the text of the TextBlock from your selected model.
For example, your model class Name is Model, then you can get the text using the following code,
private void ListBox_SelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e)
{
var selected = AlbumSongList.SelectedItem as Model;
Debug.WriteLine("You have selected the song: Song Number is {0}, and Song is {1}",
selected.SongNumber, selected.Song);
}

On mouseEnter button style in UWP c#

I am beginner in UWP c# programming. So I have a menu with some button that I wanna change those style. I change default style.But I can't change onMouseEnter styles. I found codes like this after I googled :
<Style x:Key="ButtonStyle" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Orange" />
<Style.Triggers>
<Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Red"/>
</Trigger>
</Style.Triggers>
</Style>
But it seems Style.Triggers doesn't support in UWP. Would you help me please?
But it seems Style.Triggers doesn't support in UWP.
Yes you are right. In UWP, we need to use the built-in VisualStateManager.
I don't know how did you implement your menu, but if you want to change the background of Button when it get mouse-over, pressed or some other states, you can modify the default template style of Buttons. Modify the VisualState which is named PointerOver like this:
<VisualState x:Name="PointerOver">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Red" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentPresenter">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource ButtonBorderBrushPointerOver}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentPresenter">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{ThemeResource ButtonForegroundPointerOver}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<PointerUpThemeAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
Then you can apply this template using StaticResource and the key of this style for example like this:
<Button Content="Button 1" Style="{StaticResource ButtonStyle}" />

Button Foreground color change on Pressed

I am writing a Windows 10 UWP App. I created a button which contains stackpanel with two textblocks. I want to change foreground of these textblocks on pressed.
I modified Default Button Style. so, on clicking of this button, BorderBrush is changing but foreground of textblocks is not.
<Button Command="{Binding}" Style="{StaticResource Button|SecondaryPurpleButtonStyle}" >
<Button.Content>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<TextBlock Margin="4" Style="{StaticResource TextBlock|MenuIconTextBlockStyle}" Foreground="{StaticResource Color|BrandLogoPurpleSolidColorBrush}"
Text="" />
<TextBlock Style="{StaticResource ThemedBodyTextBlockStyle}" Foreground="{StaticResource Color|BrandLogoPurpleSolidColorBrush}"
Margin="4" Text="Add to Shortlist" />
</StackPanel>
</Button.Content>
</Button>
Style:
<Style x:Key="Button|SecondaryPurpleButtonStyle"
TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" />
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource Color|BrandLogoPurpleSolidColorBrush}" />
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource Color|BrandLogoPurpleSolidColorBrush}" />
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{ThemeResource ButtonBorderThemeThickness}" />
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="8,4,8,4" />
<Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Left" />
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center" />
<Setter Property="VerticalAlignment" Value="Center" />
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{ThemeResource ContentControlThemeFontFamily}" />
<Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Normal" />
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{ThemeResource ControlContentThemeFontSize}" />
<Setter Property="UseSystemFocusVisuals" Value="True" />
<Setter Property="Template">

<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">

</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="ContentPresenter"

</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<PointerDownThemeAnimation Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid" />
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="RootGrid"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0"
Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlBackgroundBaseLowBrush}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="ContentPresenter"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0"
Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlDisabledBaseLowBrush}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="ContentPresenter"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0"
Value="{ThemeResource SystemControlDisabledTransparentBrush}" />
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
In your XAML code, you have set TextBlock's Foreground property to {StaticResource Color|BrandLogoPurpleSolidColorBrush} explicitly. So the foreground won't change.
To make sure the foreground of textblocks can be changed as BorderBrush, please delete Foreground property in your TextBlock and also make sure you didn't set Foreground property in TextBlock's style.
<Button Command="{Binding}" Style="{StaticResource Button|SecondaryPurpleButtonStyle}" >
<Button.Content>
<StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal">
<TextBlock Margin="4" Style="{StaticResource TextBlock|MenuIconTextBlockStyle}" Text="" />
<TextBlock Style="{StaticResource ThemedBodyTextBlockStyle}" Margin="4" Text="Add to Shortlist" />
</StackPanel>
</Button.Content>
</Button>
So that the TextBlocks in Button.Content will use ContentPresenter's Foreground which can be changed in different VisualStates.

How to make header of selected pivot bold in a Pivot in UWP?

I have a pivot with a header template, in this pivot.
The condition here is I would like to make the textblock bold only if the pivot is selected.
I tried editing the Pivot style but no as I couldn't find what to change there.
<Pivot x:Name="mainContentPivot" Grid.Row="1"
ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource CategoriesPivotItemsStyle}"
>
<Pivot.HeaderTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<StackPanel>
<TextBlock Text="{Binding TitleHeaders}" FontSize="16" />
</StackPanel>
</DataTemplate>
</Pivot.HeaderTemplate>
</Pivot>
Any clues as to how to achieve this,
Thanks.
You need to do the following:
Get the PivotHeaderItem template from %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\DesignTime\CommonConfiguration\Neutral\UAP\10.0.10240.0\Generic\generic.xaml
Use it to style your PivotHeaderItem
Edit the Selected VisualState to add this Setter:
<Setter Target="ContentPresenter.FontWeight" Value="Bold" />
Get back to me if you need any help.
The code is here for you:
<Pivot>
