Remove Underline from HyperlinkButton in UWP XAML - c#

I need to remove the underline in the content of HyperLinkButton.
TextDecorations does not exist in this XAML element.
<HyperlinkButton x:Name="BtnTeste"
Width="100" Height="50" BorderThickness="1"
HorizontalAlignment="Center"
Foreground="Black" Background="#ffffff"
NavigateUri="www.google.com"
Content="Execute" />

This underline is not exposed inside the HyperlinkButton style. Fortunately, you can easily override its ContentTemplate to get rid of it.
<HyperlinkButton Content="my link">
<HyperlinkButton.ContentTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<TextBlock Text="{Binding}" />
</DataTemplate>
</HyperlinkButton.ContentTemplate>
</HyperlinkButton>

Just make like this:
<HyperlinkButton>
<TextBlock Text="Blahblah" />
</HyperlinkButton>

To change the appearance of the button you have to apply a different template. The default template can be found in MSDN. To remove the underline you have to change the TextDecoration property of the "UnderlineTextBlock" in the template from "Underline" to "None".
<Style TargetType="HyperlinkButton">
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#FF73A9D8" />
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="2,0,2,0"/>
<Setter Property="Cursor" Value="Hand"/>

You can apply the template by declaring it as a resource of your page and referencing it from your button.
Declaring a new style:
<Page.Resources>
<Style x:Key="NoUnderlineHyperlinkButtonStyle" TargetType="HyperlinkButton">
<!--template from above here-->
</Style>
</Page.Resources>
Referencing it:
<HyperlinkButton Style="{StaticResource NoUnderlineHyperlinkButtonStyle}">No Underline!</HyperlinkButton>

Use style:
<HyperlinkButton Content="link" Style="{ThemeResource TextBlockButtonStyle}"/>

Partial border around Textbox

In this screenshot from the Spotify app on my phone, you can see that they did something that looks like a partial border on the bottom left and right sides. I can't find any specific property to emulate that, so can someone explain to me how they did it?
I've tried playing with border radius, but unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't think it's that simple. Do they just have a custom shape underneath it or something?
A better approach is to restyle the TextBox to have two left and right Rectangles on the side and one on the bottom to mimic the half border look.
<Rectangle x:Name="BottomLine" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Grid.Row="1" Grid.RowSpan="1" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Height="2" Fill="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" />
<Rectangle x:Name="LeftVerticalLine" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Height="4" Margin="0,0,0,2" Grid.Row="1" Stretch="Fill" UseLayoutRounding="True" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="2" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,1" Fill="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}">
<Rectangle.RenderTransform>
<CompositeTransform />
</Rectangle.RenderTransform>
</Rectangle>
<Rectangle x:Name="RightVerticalLine" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Height="4" Margin="0,0,0,2" Grid.Row="1" Stretch="Fill" UseLayoutRounding="True" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Width="2" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,1" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Fill="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}">
<Rectangle.RenderTransform>
<CompositeTransform />
</Rectangle.RenderTransform>
</Rectangle>
Why is it better? Because since they are now components of the TextBox template, you can apply animations to visual states for better user experience.
For example, I want to use ScaleTransform to scale up the left and right Rectangles when the TextBox is in Focused mode to tell users that they are currently interacting with this control.
Here's the full style. :)

You can achieve that using a LinearGradientBrush, and four GradientStop points :
<TextBox Background="WhiteSmoke" BorderThickness="3" Height="50" Width="200" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center">
<TextBox.BorderBrush>
<LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="1,1" StartPoint="1,0">
<GradientStop Color="White" Offset="0"/>
<GradientStop Color="White" Offset="0.75"/>
<GradientStop Color="Green" Offset="0.75"/>
<GradientStop Color="Green" Offset="1"/>
</LinearGradientBrush>
</TextBox.BorderBrush>
</TextBox>
and here the result

How to create a row of buttons with single active button at a time

My first question!
I'm looking to create a single row of text-filled buttons in XAML (kind of like this, but without the icons: http://bootsnipp.com/img/screenshots/0f277634083d2f5fd6c1bb54688da5b9b39bbc26.png), one of which can be selected at a time, similar to radio buttons. The RadioButton control has the right functionality, but the wrong aesthetic, and none of the styles or templates I've made seem to work correctly.
Is there any other control that would provide me with a way to create this row of buttons that keeps the functionality of the RadioButton? Or is there a way to template out the RadioButton so it looks like a text filled button?
Thanks!
Designing custom templates is hard :-), especially if you want to deal correctly with all possible state transitions (you can't change the same property of an object across different groups). Here's one I threw together for you though; there are a couple of TODOs if you want to change simple stuff (if you're more adventurous you can change other things, too).
First, the XAML: Paste this into your page, replacing everything except the opening and closing tags of the PhoneApplicationPage itself. You can also move the Resources to your App.xaml file if you want to use the style elsewhere:
<phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
<Style x:Key="TabControl" TargetType="RadioButton">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<!--TODO: Change this BorderBrush if you want a different colour-->
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="#4060ff"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMedium}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilyNormal}"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="RadioButton">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Visibility" Storyboard.TargetName="PressedBorder">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Visible"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Visibility" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentBorder">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Collapsed"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Visibility" Storyboard.TargetName="DisabledBorder">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Visible"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="CheckedBorder">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="CheckedBorder">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>

<!--TODO: Change this Margin if you don't like the big gaps between things-->

</Grid>
<CheckBox x:Name="toggle" Content="show disabled" Checked="toggle_Checked" Unchecked="toggle_Unchecked"/>
</StackPanel>
</Grid>
Now a little bit of code to show enable / disable state:
private void toggle_Checked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
foreach (var control in container.Children)
(control as RadioButton).IsEnabled = false;
}
private void toggle_Unchecked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
foreach (var control in container.Children)
(control as RadioButton).IsEnabled = true;
}

RadioButton customization

I've been trying to customize a radio button on my wp-app, but cant really get the hang of this. I want to change the normal radio button aspect with a image for checked, and another for unchecked.
So far i just have teh default template:

<Setter Property="Template">

Can someone point me out in the right direction?

I have a Windows 8.1 application with a Settings Flyout.
I am trying to extend the SettingsFlyout so as to modify the top header part of it to consist of a TextBox instead of the title as shown below
As you can see in the above UI, there is no Title.
But looks like the Title property is taken by default in SettingsFlyout.
How do I override this?
I would be very glad if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in Advance.
You could change the style/template of the flyout, but you shouldn't do that. In case you really need to - this is the default one I extracted with Blend.

List Box data template with style - On tap change the background color

I am working on Windows Phone 8 application, I have List box with Items in it, for the items i have used DataTemplate, now i have a style as well which i have applied to List as ItemContainerStyle.
Basically this is how it is , i have a list item with default color say grey,now when i tap on that item the color grey should change to red, so that it indicates to user that he has selected that item.
My code works but its not applying as background, instead its being applied as foreground.
List box :
<ListBox Name="listBox"
HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"
ItemTemplate="{StaticResource DefaultTemplate}"
ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListBoxItemStyle}"/>
Data template:
<DataTemplate x:Key="DefaultTemplate">
<Border
Background="#e3e8f0"
Margin="0,2,0,0"
VerticalAlignment="Stretch"
HorizontalAlignment="Stretch">
<Grid Width="Auto"
HorizontalAlignment="Center"
VerticalAlignment="Center">
<TextBlock
Text="{Binding Path=Text}"
HorizontalAlignment="Center"
Padding="10,25,10,25"
TextWrapping="Wrap"
MinHeight="80"
VerticalAlignment="Center"
TextAlignment="Center"
Style="{StaticResource TextStyle}"
Foreground="Black"/>
</Grid>
</Border>
</DataTemplate>
ListBoxItemStyle:
<Style x:Key="ListBoxItemStyle" TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="0"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalAlignment}">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>

</VisualState>

</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer"

<Rectangle x:Name="fillColor" Fill="#d2f2f9" IsHitTestVisible="False" RadiusY="1" RadiusX="1" Margin="0,3" Opacity="0"/>
<Rectangle x:Name="fillColor2" Fill="#d2f2f9" IsHitTestVisible="False" RadiusY="1" RadiusX="1" Margin="0,3" Opacity="0"/>
<Rectangle x:Name="FocusVisualElement" RadiusY="1" RadiusX="1" StrokeThickness="1" Visibility="Collapsed" Margin="0,3"/>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
You don't need to override ControlTemplate for that. Override system highlight brush for your ListBox by placing it under ListBox resources if all you want is to change highlight brush for your listBox.
<ListBox>
<ListBox.Resources>
<SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}"
Color="Red"/>
</ListBox.Resources>
</ListBox>
Update: Okay, since you didn't specify explicitly that you are using Silverlight which is a subset of WPF framework, not all of its API is the same.
For windows phone you want to do something like this
<Style x:Key="ListBoxItemStyle1" TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="0"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="0"/>
<Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Left"/>
<Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Top"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="ListBoxItem">
<Border x:Name="LayoutRoot" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalAlignment}">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="LayoutRoot">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource TransparentBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<DoubleAnimation Duration="0" To=".5" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Opacity" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer"/>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="SelectionStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Unselected"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Selected">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames
Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground"
Duration="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<SolidColorBrush Color="White"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames
Storyboard.TargetName="border"
Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background"
Duration="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<SolidColorBrush Color="YellowGreen"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<StackPanel x:Name="border" Orientation="Horizontal">
<CheckBox x:Name="checkBox" IsChecked="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent},
Path=IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}" DataContext="{TemplateBinding
IsSelected}" Visibility="{Binding Converter={StaticResource
BooleanToVisibilityConverter}}"
HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding
HorizontalContentAlignment}"/>
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ontentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}"
Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding
Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding
HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}"
VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding
VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</StackPanel>
</Border>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
then set the style for the ListBox
<ListBox x:Name="databoundListBox" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListBoxItemStyle1}" SelectionMode="Multiple"/>
