How to highlight a MenuFlyoutItem which is clicked/selected in UWP?

How to highlight a MenuFlyoutItem which is clicked/selected in UWP? - c#

In the old wp 8.1 it used to automatically highlight the selected/clicked item in the flyout. But in the case of a MenuFlyout this is not happening in the new UWP.
How to achieve it in this scenario.

Always visible toolbar item labels on UWP/Xamarin

I'd like to configure the toolbar on UWP/Xamarin such that labels underneath toolbar items were always visible (see: uwp commandbar always show label, bottom image).
The problem is that the application is written in Xamarin Forms and the toolbar seem to be integral part of the page, so the only solution, which comest to my mind would be to write some kind of custom renderer for page and try to access the command bar from there. Or is there any simpler solution?

You have no need custom renderer, Derive from the source code. The ToolbarItem was renderer with AppBarButton in uwp platform. So you could use Justin XL provided AppBarButton style in the uwp App.Xaml file, For making the style global, please remove x:key value and then set AppBarThemeCompactHeight as 60. Get Textblock value from selected ListBoxItem Template

Does anybody know how I can extract the textblock text out of a listboxitem that has been generated at runtime?
I have a ListBoxItem that I custom made that contains a SymbolIcon and a textBlock.
I just need the textBlock value.

ListBox has a default selection behavior that depends on what the items source is (the type that's used for ItemsSource). So the SelectedItem is the type of your Model class, so you can get the text of the TextBlock from your selected model.
For example, your model class Name is Model, then you can get the text using the following code,

How do you change the Style of the PivotHeaderItem(s) within a Pivot

I have looked at Apply PivotItemHeader style to PivotItem in UWP but I haven't been able to apply the suggestions to my code.
I'm trying to change the Style of the PivotHeaderItem(s) within a Pivot based on whether or not the device is Desktop or Mobile. I have 2 explicit styles in my Resource Dictionary.

I've tried to put the code:

within different parts of the Pivot code, but I only receive errors.
If I remove one of the styles from my Resource Dictionary and change the other style to implicit (remove the x:Key) the style is applied correctly and I receive no errors.
In short, I think my problem is that I don't know how to x:name a PivotHeaderItem.

How to make header of selected pivot bold in a Pivot in UWP?

I have a pivot with a header template, in this pivot.
The condition here is I would like to make the textblock bold only if the pivot is selected.
I tried editing the Pivot style but no as I couldn't find what to change there.

Get the PivotHeaderItem template from %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\DesignTime\CommonConfiguration\Neutral\UAP\10.0.10240.0\Generic\generic.xaml
Use it to style your PivotHeaderItem
Edit the Selected VisualState to add this Setter:

But i don't know how to achieve this in Windows Phone 8 because it doesn't

in C# you can easily use
ListBox.ItemTemplate = (DataTemplate)this.Resources["yourkeytemplate"];
dont forget to declare your template in resource XAML
